    I've heard good ole Mr Pete mention you in a few of his video's but this is my first watch! I have to say, the fact that you sell these cutters, but still make a video on how we can make our own is something people should appreciate. Great video & will definitely be watching some more

    I first saw that Mitutoyo Digimatic micrometer on your channel, Randy. I finally blew cobwebs from my wallet and got one. It's easy-to-read, coolant proof, it switches mm/inch, has a ratchet thimble and is much faster moving than the old style. I'll never go back.

    WNMG are so terrifically popular now it's about all I use anymore for General turning. I've been getting them from a good vendor in China for real cheap and they're good ones too.
    I also use a lot of 4140 or 5150 for the ease of heat treating.
    Great video

    Shattered my illusions, Randy. I thought you were making them out of military grade direct nuke hit quantium-cobalt hardened surplus bolts! Randy that was awesome. A few puzzling questions. I'm sure the shaft was HSS, but when you drilled and tapped the hole for the carbide cutter was that a Cobalt bit and how did you power feed a 440 tap without breaking it???

    • @RRINTHESHOP

    You might consider offsetting the hole say 0.005 towards the centre. This will give a camming effect from the screw head on the insert forcing it into the cutter body stabilising the insert.This is common practice on commercial milling cutters.

    • @RRINTHESHOP
      @RRINTHESHOP  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The inserts are tight. If you go that much on this insert it will break when you install or when you use the tool.

    • @RRINTHESHOP
      @RRINTHESHOP  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      CNC would be much faster. This year so far I have baerly been able to keep up with demand.
      Just having a CNC lathe would be great, I could make the entire scribe and turn the Dovetail cutters.
      I think I lot of folks like that they are all made on manual machines and that I am the one making them.
      I am afraid of having a website.

      Parallel yes, but about 0.030 offset from the cutting edge. Thanks for watching.

    Yes but how to do if we only have a Lathe? I get it holding the cuter in the chuck . But what's the best position in the post ?

    An excellent video, I follow doubleboost and he got me interested. Question: What is the depth of cut? Is it 1/2 diameter + thickness of insert?
