The plane was bought new to Finnair in 1969 where it mostly flew across the Atlantic. In 1981 it and another similar DC-8 were sold to the French Air Force who upgraded the engine to CFM56s for military transport across the world. In 2005 it was sold to ATI and in 2015 to the present owner.
Oh, It did take off. Looked like they were just going for a drive around the English countryside in a 70 series DC-8. Beautiful airplane though. My first flight was onboard a United Airlines DC-8-63 series in "Friend-Ship" livery.

Good question, mate. My guess is that Samaritan's Purse operations specifications (Ops Specs) approved by the FAA prohibit intersection take-offs, requiring the use of full runway length.
Iv just tried to email you but your ip address is not available. I was HOPING if I asked if you would be so kind and video me greyfriars kirkyard and IF it still exists my greatgrandfathers house that was above it. The famous warlock. This area IS extremely important to my family. As the names in the whole story are all associated to a private group. Has been for many many decades. My family would be extremely grateful. Thing is if I could of emailed you you would of got my real name. It may be a Web addy. But it's not available.
