What a great find! You had to love the 80's and it's gorgeous women with powerful voices... Ann & Nancy Wilson, Pat Benatar, Grace Slick, Stevie Nicks, Patty Smyth, etc. I sure miss this stuff. *sigh*
I go back to her earliest work and had moved on musically in the last ten years, never having seen this video before. I started tearing up remembering how truly great she was! I hadn't felt that rush of rock and roll for a long time, thanks so much to the poster!
In 1987 and 1988 I was a cab driver here in Augusta Georgia and evolved with a woman who did love me but not enough to live with me, and Patty Smyth's tape played a lot during this time.. I stumble across this video this morning and it just cut me to the quick. All the sudden I'm driving a '79 Checker A-10 and my heart is just gutted from my failed relationship. And I'm shaking my fist at god or anyone else who isn't listening...ISN'T IT ENOUGH?
Fan since 82. I was playing in bands for a living at the time and joined a band with a girl lead singer. We played all the MTV stuff, including lots of Scandal. Loved PS's singing from the first note on.
I cant say enough about her performance. Look how she just walks out and start blowing that song out! NoOne does that anymore... singers these days are sooooooooo spoid! KUDOS Patty!
Man what a kick ass voice...I have always liked her music and songs. Not many females could sing this good live..Maybe Ann Wilson of Heart but besides these two I can't think of any..She is a hottie also.I never saw this clip before and just looked at the clip of her singing Whole Lotta Love by Zepplin live on Letterman and all I can say is Holly Shit.....Thanks to TH-cam and the Poster I got to see this.
Great song and performance from Patty Live the album and recently replaced scratched up vinyl on CD and it sounds awesome Dave clearly happy she was on Heh, awesome clip Thanks
Always loved this album, her first without the Scandal moniker. This is a Danny Wilde tune from a couple years earlier and his album called "Isn't it Enough" which also is pretty good. Great song and Patty had one of the best female voices in rock history.
❤❤❤ MY 2ND BLUE JEAN JACKET WOMAN TODAY. LOL OTHER WAS MY SPIRITUAL FRIEND, INEZ FROM IRELAND. THEN....COMES MY HEAVENLY FELICIA 🌹🌹🌹 I AM SO BLESSED TO HAVE THESE PROVERBD 31:10 WOMEN IN MY 🧬🧬🧬
Pat Benetar, Patty Smith, Ann Wilson, Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Melissa Etheridge....women sure knew how to rock back in the day. Now all you see is pop tarts.
She's always doing Vegas shows these days at good-size casinos. And she doesn't look like she's aged morethan five years. That's a Hooters guitarist playing with the band here. The whole 1987 Patty Smyth album, Never Enough, was done with The Hooters as her backing band. Like you needed another reason to like this.
May interest you all to know that at least one of the musicians in this band, drummer Anton Fig, also performed with Patty on the album that Dave holds up at the beginning. He definitely knew the song.
You're correct - that's Rick DiFonzo from Philly's The A's. Lots of connections in the Philly scene, Patty to The A's and The Hooters, The Hooters to Joan Osbourne and Cyndi Lauper, Lauper to the late Robert Hazard (he wrote Girls Just Wanna Have Fun). Also a lot of Eric Bazilian and Rob Hyman songwriting credits on songs from those others. DiFonzo also did a stint with Roger Waters (Pink Floyd) for a while and played on the Live Wall Concert, or whatever it was called.
nice, thanks for the video, she sounds really good live, and so dose daves band... david ' a wonder woman and a fabulous babe' i wonder if he was trying to be funny for if that just came out, oh well
One of the most under rated voices in Rock, she was a powerhouse. Imagine if she'd sung with Van Halen (she was asked but turned Eddie down) Dio, Black Sabbath, or Metallica. Fucking brilliant voice on an amazing tune!
I look at the sheer fire in her eyes when she’s singing this song. What passion! No autotune. Straight up live. Love you, Patty. Always will. ☺️❤️
This was from a time when rock singers actually rocked! Yeah Patty!
The all time greatest female vocalist I've ever heard. Shes the one. I love her voice
I agree, she's in my top 5 artists.
What rubbish, she's an average vocalist!
Yes, she's one of the best for sure.
Nice. She's still incredible. As a female bass player and lead singer, it means so much to see real "soul" poured into the music. Live on, chick!
2:55 got chills watching the Patty and the band bringing it home!! What a performance!
Love everything Patty sings.Shes so pretty
Yeah she can do no wrong musically.
Hi Bunny, how are you?
Wow, she really rocks.
Oh yes.
Yup. Have known that for many years.
The whole attitude, from another Patty 🙄!
The woman kicks ass, plain and simple. What a voice!
She makes you feel it, that's for damn sure. Amazing voice.
What a cutie !!❤❤
I never heard her just “talk” in an interview. DAM, what a sexy voice ! So good to see live performance, such a powerful singer !
What a great find! You had to love the 80's and it's gorgeous women with powerful voices... Ann & Nancy Wilson, Pat Benatar, Grace Slick, Stevie Nicks, Patty Smyth, etc.
I sure miss this stuff. *sigh*
I love her outfit, it's so cute, the 80's rocked.
One of the greatest female rock vocalists of all time!
Hi Kim, how are you doing today
That WAS a powerful performance. Loved it.
OMG! Can we please have the 80's back!!!!
I love her madly! What a ball of fire! Gorgeous voice! Thanks Patty! Wow!
Ball of fire!
I go back to her earliest work and had moved on musically in the last ten years, never having seen this video before. I started tearing up remembering how truly great she was! I hadn't felt that rush of rock and roll for a long time, thanks so much to the poster!
So cool to read all these positive comments about Patty and Scandal. They were so underrated.
from the era when people actually sang in their live performances
NO GREAT MUSIC LIKE THIS IN 2021 TRAGIC.......
Aint that right!
So correct.
Why would anyone want to change that? It felt so good! It’s good we have these recordings to hear still 💓
ROCK N ROLL HALL OF FAME Material...........VOTE FOR "SCANDAL" Featuring Patty Smyth!!!
I have always been a fan!!
For Definitely, can I vote more than 1 time???? 🌹🌟🎤
The music of the 80,s and the women that sang it. Nothing today comes near it.
She and Ann Wilson are the best female rock singers to me.
Patty has pipes! When she was in her prime in the 80's she could have easily blown away the best from American Idol.
She was awesome
Wow!! Patti looked amazing there!! Great singer and person, I hear she is a real sweetheart!!😁😁❤️❤️
❤❤❤ JOHN'S BEAUTIFUL WIFE AND A SPECIAL FRIEND OF FELICIA AND KENNY HOLLEY 🌹🌹🌹
Love the Patty Smyth hop
In 1987 and 1988 I was a cab driver here in Augusta Georgia and evolved with a woman who did love me but not enough to live with me, and Patty Smyth's tape played a lot during this time.. Beautiful voice from a beautiful lady.
Wow, that was really impressive. Such a powerful voice!
Love the way she sings with an attitude
Twice the musical talent of anyone out there. Back when music told a story.
She really intensifies the song. A very strong performance for appearing on late night TV. She's great!
What a ballsy, badass woman! In your face rock and roll! Love it!
I remember jamming to Patty Smyth on MTV, always thought she was hot!
Fan since 82. I was playing in bands for a living at the time and joined a band with a girl lead singer. We played all the MTV stuff, including lots of Scandal. Loved PS's singing from the first note on.
That onstage volume had to be LOUD, yet Patty still rocks the vocals clean and strong!
Whata HOT performance! Gotta love this lady.
Patty still looks good today and still sings with a real voice of attitude....... : )
Great you tube find for me.Patty thanks for all the memories and I will use a REO song keep pushing on.

I cant say enough about her performance. Look how she just walks out and start blowing that song out! NoOne does that anymore... singers these days are sooooooooo spoid! KUDOS Patty!

I love her speaking voice, and everything else about her :)

I remember watching this late night
Attitude and no Auto tune.
Miss those days
Always loved this album, her first without the Scandal moniker. This is a Danny Wilde tune from a couple years earlier and his album called "Isn't it Enough" which also is pretty good. Great song and Patty had one of the best female voices in rock history.
what a great gem. bought this album in Baumholder Germany in 1986. such a great album
No wonder EVH wanted her to be the singer....❤
Powderkeg rocker - such vocals and energy with her band!
MMMMM , my babysitter .
You from The Beach?
If that is live, its amazing
Disregard that fool Letterman, and this is one of the greatest vocal performances you'll ever see. TOP 100 SONGS OF ALL TIME.
she is sooo good. no pretensions needed. just sang the song with lots of energy.
❤❤❤ MY 2ND BLUE JEAN JACKET WOMAN TODAY. LOL OTHER WAS MY SPIRITUAL FRIEND, INEZ FROM IRELAND. THEN....COMES MY HEAVENLY FELICIA 🌹🌹🌹 I AM SO BLESSED TO HAVE THESE PROVERBD 31:10 WOMEN IN MY 🧬🧬🧬

Hi 👋, how are you doing today
Janis Joplin. Grace Slick. Kate Bush. Pat Benatar - and Patty Smyth - the greatest rock chick vocalists EVER!
you forgot stevie nicks, ann wilson, cyndi lauper,
@@billdlyaegra9394 Stevie is good. Cyndi very good. Ann is incredible yes!
Had a BIG crush on Patty back in high school. Man I love YOU TUBE! That IS how it's done. Effortless...
Danny Wilde (Great Buildings, Rembrandts) tune.
Pat Benetar, Patty Smith, Ann Wilson, Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Melissa Etheridge....women sure knew how to rock back in the day. Now all you see is pop tarts.
Patty nails it again
That whole album rocks
She's always doing Vegas shows these days at good-size casinos. And she doesn't look like she's aged morethan five years.

PATTY IS A GREAT ARTIST WOW 11-20-24
Patty, I still love you. Isn't that enough ?
No Wonder that Van Halen wanted her to replace that hack David Lee Roth before they picked Sammy!!! She Is Amazing!!
You may not have liked Diamond Dave, but his singing wasn't all that bad. They did sell tons of records.
Sammy Hager has a great personality and good 🎸 🎸 guitar player. Patty a sensational singer 👏!
Fender Jazz Bass with a Valley Arts Bass Neck!!! Sweetness indeed!
May interest you all to know that at least one of the musicians in this band, drummer Anton Fig, also performed with Patty on the album that Dave holds up at the beginning. He definitely knew the song.
She was the BOSS here.
one of the sexiest voices I have heard

This performance is 💥
WOW!!! Patty You kick ass on so many levels !!! HOT HOT HOT!! You make my blood a boilin!! LOL!!
Anton Fig on the drums, ladies and gentleman!
I thought that was Anton Zip. :)
her thanksgiving appearance at the spectrum in philly on thankgiving in 87 with the hooters was awesome
This is a Danny Wilde song as in the Rembrandt’s. She over cooks it a little bit but that just might be me, I heard the Danny Wilde version first.
One of the most under rated voices in Rock, she was a powerhouse. Imagine if she'd sung with Van Halen (she was asked but turned Eddie down) Dio, Black Sabbath, or Metallica. Fucking brilliant voice on an amazing tune!
Love her
Still don't know how the stage didn't burst into flames!
