@@Greg-ek7qhYES!!! Great time to be alive. Great music whether it was new wave or hair or pop. It was good, for the most part. Things are just to fucking heavy nowadays. I’m grateful to have been a teenager back in those days.
There was a time when, yes, MTV lost its way, but in the age of streaming and On-Demand, MTV can rot. It had its chance. Starting with "The Real World" and "Road Rules", "Remote Control" and "Ren & Stimpy" MTV began to "slow-boil the frog" until we realized the idiots forgot the "Music" part entirely. Even a decade ago, MTV going back to its roots would have been "Read Only Memory" while the Internet has provided us with "Random Access Memory". SCREW 'EM. Good riddance.
An embarrassment to Metal. Long hair is one thing. It is simply NOT cutting your hair short anymore regardless of insignificant peoples' insignificant opinion about how YOU choose to wear YOUR hair as a man. These bands had nothing to do with the hard rock roots of metal-Sabbath, Zeppelin, Purple, Uriah Heep, Blue Cheer and the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. The Glitz and Schmaltz was a waste of everybody's time. The stage clothes looked like BDSM/Gimp attire and the hair-styling products actually forced musicians to keep cutting damaged ends so that hair was never more than a few inches below the shoulders. Meanwhile, Death/Thrash Metal bands' hair was was to the elbows and only a few inches above the waist.
Knowing what I’ve learned regarding satanic symbolism in recent yrs to see that horrendous backdrop. 😱Poor Jani was consumed by the devil and his demons. Hope he is now at peace. 🙏🏼 gone too soon, so much talent. loved you man! 🥰
I saw Warrant around this same time at a little hole in the wall bar in Rome, New York, and they sounded and looked exactly like they do in this video. I remember the enormous buzz about the band when their first album was released. Those were the days.
Yes! This is when you got a PERFORMANCE! The band is really singing, playing their instruments, a little improvisation, and performing to the music. Not to mention the genius of frontman/singer/songwriter Jani Lane. Sadly, nothing like this today or ever again.
Every time we played in or near Orlando, I'd always go to his club. We became friends and he was the nicest person ever. It's always cool to see your heroes be awesome in person. RIP brother.
Truly amazing! I mean, I knew Warrant was great. But who knew MTV actually used to play music? And the band members were really playing their instruments.
I remember when music videos was ALL that MTV played. They said R&R would never die. Where are the bands now? It’s hookers & whores that can’t sing w auto tune and lip sync. A shame
MTV was Music Television 24/7. They hyped up that station well over a year. It premiered 12:00 am. We all waited patiently, and it did not disappoint. Everyone was up at midnight to see it. It was the Golden Age of the 80’s. The era of excess and decadence, sex, drugs and Rock-n Roll baby!! It was, by far, the best of my life. I feel sorry for the people that didn’t live through the 80’s, even though I’m old now 😳😵💫🥶😱😂!!

TheAllout1111 They did what glam rock did... have you ever wondered why it's called GLAM!? Glam wasn't about the music, it was about the saleability of the acts. Yes, you did have rare glimpses of proper music in there (despite the title track, the Cherry Pie album is actually quite good), but for the most part it was garbage.

Same here. There was a local college radio station 89.5 WSOU out of Seton Hall here in NJ who would play everything! One minute Metallica the next Stryper followed by maybe Anthrax and Poison. I lived it and I loved it
We may chuckle at this recording, but I'd ask those of you laughing to show me a contemporary performance where everyone is having a genuinely good time and not simply recording it with their "smart" phones to get a few desperate likes on the internet. Ironically, while the 80s are long gone, we're able to relive them through that same hated medium...
They couldn't record it at this year in rock history. But if given the technology, you everyone in the audience would have been. Same as today. I don't like or agree with it either. We held ip lighters damn it. And i didn't even smoke.
@@2TUFSS Spoken like someone who is experiencing severe pain in the hinder regions. Kinda like the guys from Warrant when in a room with corporate suits who decided what they would play and how they'd dress.

I love the way Jani moved his body with the music, his powerful spiritual voice and his sweet luscious eyes. I can't stop myself from watching every video of him but I'm also feeling really upset that I can't get to know more about him except from those flickering clips. Can any stars be compared to him so that I can imagine how lucky would I be if I was born back then?
