I certainly learned a lot from watching your videos, so thanks Biffa :) (also the buildings in the middle of the roundabouts hurt my soul)
I went back to one of my first ones after a year of playing and mastering some mods and design work. It was definitely an interesting experience in seeing what I didn't understand, knowing ways to fix it now, etc. A lot owed to Biffa, natch.
I just finished watching the first 36 videos making this city and I swear I was yelling at the screen as if it was a football match since I originally started watching you a year ago with the "fix your city" series. The weird road down the river was one that you'd put in hoping citizens would move into the empty riverbed after you built the dam, and left it there after deleting the dam. It was fun watching 2015 Biffa learn how to use the bendy-road tool - it create a lot of wonky roads. It was so much fun to watch and see 2015 versus 2020. I love your laughter and there was something about "flippin' chickens". That made me lose it.. I think I sprayed my martini across the room. Your C&S videos are truly fun to watch.
I wish CS had a multiplayer mode! I always tend to fixate on a few projects, and never effectively expand into train and boat networks. I’d love to have someone designing a city with me, sharing ideas together and building off of one another.
I am not sure that I will ever play this game again, because my computer is so bad right now, but for the last year or so I have been using thee videos as basically ASMR while doing homework for continuing teacher education courses, daily marking and report card writing. The comment of at 16:49 of "mmm, I need a sip of tea, my eyes are starting to twitch now " MIGHT be the most 2020 comment of all time it made me smile after a very long day. SO thank you for that and for keeping me company over the last year and a bit.
This was fun!! Everyone had a first city, and everyone was just trying to get a population growing, and with a little luck (because we had no skill yet), making some money. I really liked seeing your own fascination with 6 lane roads hoping more lanes would ease traffic. You started just like we did!! Bravo Biffa for being brave enough to show us this, and then fix it too. Well done. 😊☺ 👏👏👏👏👏
The optimal number of lanes in a roundabout is the same number as the number of Exits (-1). Also, changing the road going in to the same number of lanes, it (I use asymmetric roads here) helps with flow. So a four road roundabout works best with a 3 lanes, a 3 road roundabout works well with just 2 lanes. If you put a 3 lane road going into a four road/3 lane roundabout, you can actually see where the car will go before it even gets on the roundabout. If you have one way roads going in/out, just count the exits, not the entrances.
Oh wow, all those 6-lane roads bring back the memories... I used to think they were the cure for bad traffic, and then I discovered your TH-cam channel.
You know, considering you had no mods and that it was your first city, that wasn't half bad. My first several cities died before I ever got anywhere close to that many people. Thank you for the fun episode Biffa! :D
This was awesome to watch. I started a few weeks go watching this city from episode 1. i couldn't believe some of the things you were doing in this early build, it was crazy. Glad to see you went back to fix it.
20:22 Just what is that intersection lol. First thing I learnt form traffic manager: options -> remove all traffic lights. It works nice indeed. This city is, as exected, bad because of a beginner but my first city was pretty much like this. I started this game in 2019 from Vanilla so I have a little idea of how it could work once I learnt about the workshop and stuff but back in the day in 2015...I feel pity for those poor souls who struggled a ton back in the day.
I wish I had kept my first city! It's amazing how much someone can learn, even from a short time, and how your cities can improve so much! This was a great video!
After about 8 months of watching your videos I went back to my first city and sorted the traffic mess there, too. Wasn't quite 8%, was running in the 30s, but now we're cooking in the mid 80s with only one or two unavoidable hot spots. This stuff works. =)
Biffa, I like your problem solving episodes best, my sister likes your building episodes best. I watch them all, but pay more attention during the fixing. Loved this one!
hey Biffa, your videos not only make me a better Cities Skylines player, and give me something to binge watch while snacking, but you also reduced my fear of multi-lane roads in real life, you know what they say, you are scared by what you don't understand. and now i do understand them.
This brightened up my day. So many shocking road connections going nowhere or doing the same thing. Absolutely loved it. 😄 And the disbelief in what you had created, "What was I thinking?"
This is a brave episode to post, haha! I actually pulled my first city of my old PC before giving it away. Thinking of doing the same thing. Like you, my city was... ahem... broken.
This was such a great idea. I really enjoyed it and hope that you go back to the ghost of Biffa past many more times! The progress in your city building is now and then is stunning!
This is quite interesting; in that I'd never heard of this game until Utube recommended your vids to me. Now though, I'm enjoying learning how it all works. Your voice helps too.😉😁
This is beautiful, Biffa, absolutely beautiful, although I had to laugh at you saying there were hardly any glitches, then spending the next five minutes going through several really funky glitches, lol. What the hell was that road doing, and all those random mass transit stops? 🤣
I'm having PTSD watching this, remembering my early days of CS trying to play it on PS4 without mods... or a mouse... or a keyboard.... This game right here is the sole reason my PS4 has not been turned on in two years - because I switched to PC forever.
This was one of the funniest episodes ever... great stuff!! Can we download this old city too? Would be nice to fix a Biffa city myself.. maybe we make a challenge out of it?
Biffa! I've recently been watching your Sipatea Citea and SipaGreenTea Citea series and was going to suggest you revisit those for the same reason! Some of the bits on Sipatea videos especially where you look at traffic that's clearly backing up all the way down the highway and go "it's busy but it's not backing up" :D
"Biffhattan" - love that! One of my first cities had an island section called "Andrewhattan" that looked almost identical to yours. Great minds think alike!
before the mass transit dlc we had 2 lane roads, 2 lane one-way, 4 lane, 6 lane, 6 lane one-way - all with/without grass and trees - and then 3 lane highway, and 1 lane highway ramp. It came (still do) with a premade roundabout, a highway T-junction, and a (terrible) highway cloverleaf junction. The game also had two or three revisions to how it manages traffic since launch (it was awful in the beginning), so road designs that would completely destroy your city originally can partially work now (depending on how terrible it is). The bus stop glitch is completely normal for original vanilla cities when you load them into the current game. They changed how busses work like a year or two after the game came out - which is why they now stop and wait at bus stops instead of immediately leaving - and somewhere along the way when they added more transport types it just broke the old saves and bus stops went all over the place. Actually impressed you could load a save this old at all. Many of them won't work at all and just spits out errors, but maybe it's because it's so old it's from before the major updates
This has to be the Best Video i have seen of yours and there is no way i could have ever thought that this city was one of your own, it was so enjoyable to watch, so tell us how many other horrors have you got hiding hiding up your sleeve we demand to know lol. Great video keep them coming .
I was thinking there were a *lot* of buses. I was almost expecting you to spend another episode on public and cargo transport alone. One thing I've noticed, at Biffhattan the one motorway just suddenly ends, I know there's not that much traffic there, but thanks to you we know it should be hooked up to the nearest motorway, all it needs is an intersection so they can make the 90° turn (there's plenty of empty space there to do that).
I'm actually at this stage now, my first city, totally vanilla on the pc, but I have the huge advantage of having watched many of Biffa's videos, so while i have ugly roads, and messy junctions the traffic flows. all thanks to Biffmeister
Looking at this ‘fix’ i forgot that it’s 2 years old, I couldn’t get my head around why you didn’t use all the recent additions to the game🙃 Also I couldn’t remember you used left handed driving back in the day. Glad you changed that.
All those roundabouts! It was literally a pick and drop all over those sections of the maps. Apparently you were anti-grid at the time. LOL. Madison Square was the first square that got demolished. Those highway junks turned out super weirdly - really creative solutions though.

I've been watching a few of your videos, not quite sure why, but they were nice and relaxing to watch. Made me think about Skylines again. I bought cities and played for a few hours, but got tired with traffic and the lacking management options. Looks like the modding community has come in and saved it a bit, so I may just have to give it a whirl again.

I've definitely deleted some of my first cities, so I cant really look back and retro fit it knowing what I know now. That being said, I like to think I started out okay because I had watched your videos before getting the game. Your videos have been crucial to me knowing how to play.
First a bit o'' fun, this city gives a whole new meaning to getting around 'bout town! :D Second, kudo's to you, be able to adjust to left and right sided traffic so quickly! Very agile mind.
I am amazed at the fact that those were just minor changes. Each time I used to have traffic problems I just ripped everything out and started building roads from the beggining
Im really curious when he says "no one way roads" especially at 3:37 because...there were one lane roads...he shows it right there with the on ramp and the 4 lane road going into a 2 lane road...which is all one way.
That was great. You should do an ultimate walking city/public transit challenge with this save game. There is lots of room and the roundabout suburbs would be a walking Mecca.
Awesome video. Would like for this one map to be a series. You always keep the integrity of the the way the cities were built but what if you was there to fix more then just the traffic. Not one tea themed area in the town. Even old Biffa wouldn’t approve of that.
This video actually inspired me to take a look at my first one, one of the main issues with it is broken roundabouts. They're setup correct but cars disappear stops in the middle of it, even if I remove them and rebuilds them. No I'm not using despawning them.
Thanks for the video. As a continental european this video never managed to make much sense to me. Driving in the "wrong" side of the road made me confused, so had I been a car I would had disappeared - hehehe.
“We’re losing people” yes because they can actually get out of the city now that you’ve fixed a part of the horrendous traffic

This has to be the Best Video i have seen of yours and there is no way i could have ever thought that this city was one of your own, it was so enjoyable to watch, so tell us how many other horrors have you got hiding hiding up your sleeve we demand to know lol. Great video keep them coming .
Glad you enjoyed it!
This was such a great episode! Loved it
I'm actually at this stage now, my first city, totally vanilla on the pc, but I have the huge advantage of having watched many of Biffa's videos, so while i have ugly roads, and messy junctions the traffic flows. all thanks to Biffmeister
Thanks for freeing me from that traffic jam! Spending the past 5 years stuck on a motorway hasn't been easy...
It's funny to see how we evolve, the brain can sort itself out in 2, 3 years.
Doesn't matter how good the city is, I love watching and listening to Biffa! -- Horky borky, winky wonky Horray!
Thank you Mitch Rossow :-)
Looking at this ‘fix’ i forgot that it’s 2 years old, I couldn’t get my head around why you didn’t use all the recent additions to the game🙃
Also I couldn’t remember you used left handed driving back in the day. Glad you changed that.
:-)
"we don't need that elementary school, we have a hadron collider"
All those roundabouts! It was literally a pick and drop all over those sections of the maps. Apparently you were anti-grid at the time. LOL. Madison Square was the first square that got demolished. Those highway junks turned out super weirdly - really creative solutions though.
I think that submerged road on 1:55 is when you put a dam on the river, drained the river, built the road with houses and then removed the dam
heres the pov of a citizen in the city
citizen: Its been 3 weeks on the highway i haven't seen my children in forever
biffa: fix's roads
citizen: oh my wife in kids died cause the ambulance was stuck in traffic
The struggle was real this episode! It was nice to see the processes come together
I love that Biffa! Please relive anymore of your previous cities!
Indeed :-)
Thank you. I feel so much better about my crappy cities seeing your early effort.
Enjoy 😁
2015 Biffa: Tell me the best parts about the year 2020, 2020 Biffa!
2020 Biffa: Traffic Manager, Intersection adjustment mods, great workshop assets, Roundabout Builder -
2015 Biffa: Sorry to interrupt, but that's just all in the game. Tell me *all* the great things about 2020!
2020 Biffa: That's what I've *been* doing... By the way, here's a list of all the dates a Steam sale discounts C:S DLC... :-)
Paul Atrides = the Spice must Flow
Biffa = no The traffic must Flow
This may be the most entertaining Biffa video ever!!
Holy cow. I’ve never been here this early! You have some SUCH a long way since New Biffington. Wow. 😳
:-)
Was that a Teafart at 15:22?
Biffa criticizing weird highway junctions like gordon ramsay criticizes novelty food.
Such a good map to build the first city on. Build my first city on it as well and had so much fun with it
I've definitely deleted some of my first cities, so I cant really look back and retro fit it knowing what I know now.
Very agile mind.
when your dad leaves for smokes and chips but has a legit reason for never getting home
Happy Tuesday Biffa!!! Just started watching the video. You've come a long way in 5 years
Thank you shdwmage24 :-)
Just shrugging me shoulders. XD
Thanks for another good one!!
Well, I havent check you out since school start but its great to see you doing an amazing job still
I would love to see a serie where you will fix and beautify your old city and make them shine again. Like new mayor Biffa is taking over
Awesome video. Would like for this one map to be a series. You always keep the integrity of the the way the cities were built but what if you was there to fix more then just the traffic. Not one tea themed area in the town. Even old Biffa wouldn’t approve of that.
Love the fact that u was'nt using oneways on the roundabouts - half of them are two ways. WHOAH a scary thing to drive on :)
Great video as usual! Feels great that I don’t have to be ashamed for some of my cities anymore. 😂
You're playing it for FIVE years? That's amazing 😮
Old Biffa liked spaghetti!! Well done, nice fix!
This would be a brilliant series :O get people to find their old saves from back in the day and make traffic and cityplanning fixes on them :D
