    The real question is:
Does the world need to believe that a man had to be crucified and then rise from the dead?
    No.

Fact of this nature is acknowledged by people across the world when the doctrine and the narrative is cemented over and over for centuries in all institutions. Unfortunately the illusion is regarded as truth. Its a tool that has controlled human mind for centuries. Its pure stupidity for people to think that a man born of flesh was resurrected and went to heaven and that he raised people from the dead. That's pure blasphemy. I think there was a lost translation somewhere and/or someone wanted to continue with this doctrine of manipulation. Its sad that people have adopted the principle of paralysis of analysis when it comes to this dogma.

IMHO, the main problem is that crucified criminals were never placed in a tomb. They were likely left on the cross to rot , then dumped in a mass grave. If the Romans wanted to keep people from taking the body, they would simply post a couple of guards to keep watch.

It is the believer who has to justify his belief
If I would say Leprechauns exist, would I ask you to disprove that ?
No, It's up to me to prove they do, Afterall I made the claim
But go ahead, Explain to this
      18
The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
19 Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.
20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals.
But for Adam no suitable helper was found.
What was the original plan ?
Adams mate was to be a Dog,Sheep,Etc ?
Not to Adams liking, Hence plan B
21 So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs[g] and then closed up the place with flesh.
22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
      Genesis 2:18-22
      While I'm at it
Why would a "loving God" save Lot from Sodom and Gomorrah
2 “My lords,” he said, “please turn aside to your servant’s house. You can wash your feet and spend the night and then go on your way early in the morning.”
“No,” they answered, “we will spend the night in the square.”
3 But he insisted so strongly that they did go with him and entered his house. He prepared a meal for them, baking bread without yeast, and they ate.
4 Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom-both young and old-surrounded the house.
5 They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.”
6 Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him
7 and said, “No, my friends. Don’t do this wicked thing.
8 Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don’t do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof.”
      Genesis 19: 2 - 8 KJV
Yeah, That's what every decent Father would do
      And read on
      pillar of salt ? really
Then incest between Papa and his daughters, Wow
      That's the Christians worldview ?
      Really, Wow

I don't think one should come to a conclusion after one video. Its easy enough to listen to one man argue their side, and agree with them...UNTIL you hear their opponent which will argue in the opposite direction, and may have his own good arguments. One should deduce after looking at all sides, then continue to recheck each sides' views, facts presented, their conclusions, and then lastly one's own perspective, ensuring one is seeing it correctly, at least as correctly as possible.
Also, it may take time to weed out inconsistencies in one's own viewpoint, so that's why continual re-view is important. Things don't look as they seem.
All that said, I am considering Dan's arguments.

Jesus was Jewish and he never intended to have anything to do with people who were not Jewish.
Jesus said, "I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel." Matthew 15:24
It is wrong to say otherwise.

  • @wowojeejee
    @wowojeejee 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

There is not one written eyewitness account of Jesus during his lifetime. Strange since he was famous at birth, because wise men expected to see the future king of Jews who was born from a virgin married mother. Every leading Christian scholar since Erasmus, five hundred years ago, has maintained that the gospels were originally written in Greek from 70 to 140 CE (Mark after the year 70, Luke about 110, Matthew about 130, and John no earlier than 140 CE). This proves that they were not written by Christ's apostles, disciples or by any of the early Christians.
Others say: “There is no proof of the Gospels existing before 130 CE”
Jesus is depicted as hugely popular in the gospels. Yet he is unrecorded by non-Biblical historians.
Paul was the first one to write about Jesus around 60CE; but he, like everyone else, never saw Jesus. He experienced a vision of the resurrected Jesus. All myth! Seek the truth!

And when they grow up, for many of them it is hard to shake it off. Even intelligent people put their reasoning abilities and critical thinking skills on hold as soon as their religion comes into play because of brainwashing at a very vulnerable age.

One True Faith, many people have subjected themselves to horrible things for what they believed. Think about modern day cults with tragic endings, and immoral wars that people believed were just wars, so they were willing to suffer and die for the cause.
Do you believe everything you read? I mean, **Jesus didn't even write anything down himself,** and the authors of the gospels didn't claim to be eye-witnesses of Jesus.
Historians tell us the gospels were written 40 - 70 years after Jesus died, and all we have are **copies-of-copies-of-copies-of-copies**
The names, such as Mark and Mathew were assigned to those books because we don't know who the authors where.
Today, a world leader or other famous person can be heard and 'witnessed' around the globe in a video. **God failed to appear to every individual despite being all powerful.**
Check out books or lectures by Richard Carrier.

      Well possibly,
Which "belief" is more rational and logical???
Two people, one Christian the other Atheist, are walking through an apple orchard coming upon 300 apples "perfectly" in a row and "evenly" spaced apart.
The atheist concludes "nice accident" and continues walking. Obviously, not thinking anything more about it - as that is how he/she is brainwashed by "secular" society and his/her education to believe.
On the other hand, the Christian sees the exact same 300 apples "perfectly" in a row and "evenly" spaced apart, and concludes "WHO IN THE WORLD DID THAT?"
Which has a more rational and logical conclusion???
Logically, behind "order" is an "orderer". Behind every "building" you see is a "builder" you cannot see.
Behind an intelligent "design" is a intelligent "designer". Behind something that is "moving" there is a "mover" - that caused it to move.
Now, let’s raise the "accident" odds. For me to write this post I have 3 Billion DNA "perfectly" in a row and "evenly" spaced apart and for you to read this post you have 3 Billion DNA "perfectly" in a row and "evenly" spaced apart, so over 6 Billion DNA working. Now, is that just a random "chance" and "accident" to have 6 Billion DNA in a "row" to carry on this conversation???
Is that really a logical and rational conclusion???
Please get to KNOW the supreme "orderer" of this universe, and what He expects out of your life to find "TRUE LIFE" ITSELF.
Now, I recommend you watch former atheist Lee Strobel's "Case for the Creator", then read Josh McDowell's "Evidence Demands a Verdict".
Follow the "Evidence", facts and "TRUTH" right into the ONE and ONLY established Church of Jesus Christ being the ONE HOLY CATHOLIC AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH.
May GOD open your eyes and heart guiding you to TRUTH HIMSELF Jesus Christ (John 14:6).

    • @Well_possibly
      @Well_possibly 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

One True Faith, I'm up for a polite dialog if you are. You and I have likely been exposed to different things, so we can probably learn from each other.
Regarding your post, your wrote, in part:
"Which has a more rational and logical conclusion???....Behind every "building" you see is a "builder" you cannot see."
Let's not forget snowflakes. They can be beautiful and look designed, yet they are 'built' naturally. Crystals is another example.
I am an atheist, but with enough evidence, of course I would accept a creator played a role.
Personally, I try to avoid choosing between only two options, such as:1) We had no creator.
      OR
      2) YHWH is the creator.
**Why YHWH out of the thousands of gods, or even an unrevealed god/deity?
If I knew we had a creator, there would still be much work to be done to prove any specific holy book is correct and that the creator has specific characteristics, such as being omniscient, omnipotent, loving, or vengeful.
Regarding the Bible, the Bible itself shows it is NOT trustworthy. It is full of contradictions and is about a vile, baby killing god, just for two examples.
No offense intended. I'm fine with religious people. I just take a logical approach to holy books, and any book, for that matter.
Anyway, I'm open, if you would like to discuss anything.

He shall LIE WITH YOUR WIVES in broad daylight. You have done this deed in secret, but I will bring it about in the presence of all Israel, and with the sun looking down.' " (2 Samuel 12:11)

Jesus is very cold to a certain woman who is not Jewish - HE calls her 'a dog' :
"It is not right to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs. - Jesus, Matthew 15:26
In other words, “Go away. I’m only here to help the Jews.”
If you think that’s a distortion of his meaning, it isn’t. Jesus comes right out and says it:
"I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel" - Jesus, Matthew 15:24

Millions believe that you have an immortal soul that either goes to heaven or hell when you die. Yet the words “immortal soul” are nowhere to be found in your Bible. Think for a moment, if you already have an immortal soul then why do you need God? You already have something that lives forever inside of you, why would you need a relationship with God? The concept and teaching of the immortality of the soul do not come from the Bible! Philosophers like Plato and Socrates came up with the concept as they speculated about the state of the dead. What does the Bible really say about immortality?

Jesus endorsed all of the killing in the Old Testament
“...the scripture cannot be broken.” -- John 10:35
This is why Peter eagerly killed people as a result:
"...Just outside that door are the young men who buried your husband, Ananais and they will carry you out, too.' Instantly, the wife of Ananais fell to the floor and died."
Peter shows no forgiveness or loving of the neighbor. No turning of the other cheek.

The mainstream view among Bible scholars is actually that the Gospels were written in the first century. It's not just the view among conservatives as Dan Barker claims.
Bart Ehrman, who is a leading agnostic Bible scholar, writes that ~70 AD is the most widely accepted date for the gospel of Mark; 80-85 AD for Matthew and Luke; and about 95 AD for the gospel of John. He seems to agree with those dates pretty much.
Maurice Casey, another nonbeliever Bible scholar, actually tends to date the Gospels earlier. He makes various arguments in his book _Jesus of Nazareth_ that the gospel of Mark is from ~40 AD.
Maurice Casey also says the gospel of John is not considered historical. Jesus had become theologized by that time, and the gospel of John presents him in terms of later Christian theology and myth. It tends to be conservative Christians who think the gospel of John is historical.
Dating the Gospels to the 2nd century AD is an opinion that tends to come from nonbelievers who want to minimize them as historical evidence. This is kind of strange because miracle stories about Jesus don't imply Christianity is true. There are lots of miracle stories that Christians don't believe.

Well, some Bible scholars think there are eyewitness accounts embedded in the Gospels, that may have been written soon after the events happened. Maurice Casey (a nonbeliever Bible scholar) thinks the Gospel of Matthew may contain written material from Jesus' disciple, Matthew the tax collector. (not that he wrote the whole Gospel) Maybe tax collectors would have been more likely to be literate.
But the Gospels have a lot of contradictions and exaggerated miracle stories, so clearly a great deal was added later.

@8:13: The same kind of mind rot which causes religion also causes statism. Taxes are theft justified by all kinds of poorly justified mysticism (e.g. we agreed to it by social contract, we owe it to ourselves, it pays for the roads -- do the math , it is our "obligation", pay our "fair share" -- and how do you calculate this?). At the end of the day, most people pay taxes because of the social mysticism of this sort. A minority of skeptics like me pay because we will be locked up if we don't. If there is a person who can rationally justify paying it, then I have yet to meet this person. Many people think they can, but they always fall into emotionalism and collectivist thought (e.g. it must be right because "we" all agree) at the end.
So my opinion is this: If some religious mystic idiot finds a loophole around the statist mystic tax system, then good for him. He is still a mystic idiot, but the taxes are still theft justified by other mystics. He has done an ethical action for unethical reasons.

Did the first organism arise from non living material by a random causation?

    • @Penningtontj
      @Penningtontj 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

There's a surprising amount to unpack to answer this question, and some of it depends on what you mean. For starters, when you say "material" do you mean matter? Because there's no such thing as "living matter" or "non living matter". It's just matter, that is in a living system or not. A carbon atom is a carbon atom, regardless of whether it came from a human, a tree, a diamond, whatever.
The first organisms would have formed from organic compounds, which do occur naturally (even out in space). How they formed is not entirely known at this point, but it wouldn't have been a one time event, there wouldn't have been a clunk changeover from organic compounds to organisms. It would have happened over time, with plenty of variability and almost certainly a number of what we'd think of as false starts.
As for "random", well, if you mean undirected by a thinking mind then yes. But the chemical structures that formed those first organisms would have still operated as the chemicals they always were, as they still do, and their behavior is based on their conditions and chemical structure so it's deterministic- so no.
The problem is that your question is built on misunderstandings. If the foundations of your questions are flawed, then the questions are always going to be unstable.

Why does Jesus give this extra power to Peter to kill? It is an even stronger power than God gives to Himself!
No one in Leviticus can die without a stoning being done by humans - yet Jesus gives special power to stop a beating heart to Peter!
And if Peter can judge does this make him equal to Jesus?

Why I no longer believe in Jesus or in his resurrection: a simple reason why Jesus' tomb was empty!
If I were Joseph of Arimathea, what do you think I would do if after taking Jesus down from the cross, I found that he was still alive albeit in a coma? The answer is simple: I would stage a mock burial as I can't possibly hand him back to the authorities to be crucified a second time. For this I would need help from James (Jesus' brother). The body I bore covered in linen to the cave-tomb wasn't a dead Jesus but his living brother, James! Meantime, I would have my friend Nicodemus tend to Jesus' wounds in some secret place! James would then let himself out of the cave-tomb sometime in the night! Incidentally, this was why the cave was chosen for a tomb as burying James in the ground would have killed him! This is the secret that Joseph of Arimathea, Nicodemus, James, Mary (Jesus' mother) and Jesus took with them to their graves! This also accounts for Jesus meeting Saul on the road to Damascus, resulting in the latter's conversion. Sadly, in fleeing Israel, Jesus was leaving his disciples in the lurch! But how do I know that it was James who took Jesus' place in the cave-tomb? Here's the evidence - straight from the bible itself!
    1. James never spoke of Jesus' virgin birth, miracles and ascension to heaven! Like Jesus, James preached no gospel! All that Jesus allegedly preached in the Gospel of John (which was the last of the 4 gospels written) were works of poetic imagination as many of these key teachings were not mentioned in the other 3 gospels! For instant, the raising of Lazarus from the dead was never mentioned in the other 3 gospels!
    2. James preached that "faith (i.e. faith in Jesus) without works is dead." This is a sharp contrast to what Peter, John and Paul preached i.e. one is not saved by works but by faith alone.
    3. James warned of Christians whose tongues are like the rudder of ships i.e. they make mountains of molehills. He was referring to Peter, John and Paul and their claims that Jesus rose from the dead!
    4. If Jesus was in the tomb, he would have been too grievously hurt, nor have the strength, to roll away the stone! It would take a person free of serious injuries to do that.
    5. In the Book of Acts, Peter and Paul, rejecting the need for Gentile believers to be circumcised, criticized James for teaching that Gentile believers should be circumcised and abstain from blood and food offered to idols i.e. James was a devout follower adherent of Judaic practices.
    6. Jesus himself said that he came to fulfill the law, and not to destroy it i.e. he too sought to fulfill Judaic laws.
    7. Jesus was crucified not because he preached he was the Son of God (he in all probability never did - it was the gospel writers who proclaimed him to be the Son of God since they believed God raised him from the dead) but because he was critical of the hypocrisy and corruption of the pharisees and Sanhedrin.
    8. Jesus' own family did not believe that he was the messiah or son of God. See John 7:5
    9. On many occasions Jesus had to hide each time the Jews sought to harm him. After his so-called resurrection, he fled Israel for good (and met Saul on the road to Damascus) and was never seen or heard of again in the land of Israel.
    10. If indeed Jesus was the way, the truth and the life, billions of unbelievers would go to hell. How then can one say that God is merciful when He doesn't seem to understand what forgiveness is! James and Jesus understood this better than the 4 unknown gospel writers, Peter, Paul and John.
    11. Jesus could perform no miracles: Mark 6:5 - And he could there do no mighty work. Matthew 13:58: “And he did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief.” All of Jesus' miracles are myths!
    12. Matthew 10:34-36 - "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household." Matthew 10:34-36 are heinous understatements Jesus made: As the purported Son of God, he did not foresee how his teachings would lead to the Holy Crusades and contribute to the Church's 1500 years of burning of people they consider heretics, apostates, blasphemers, and no less, the Jews for killing Jesus.
    13. The gospel of Jesus was the gospel of Paul! He wrote most of the New Testament and his doctrines determine the doctrines in the 4 gospels.
    14. The council at Nicaea chose the books that now make up the New Testaments. It rejected several other gospels, not least those that do not emphasize or speak of Jesus' resurrection.
    15. Biblical characters in the Old Testament resorted to violence, trickery or deception to achieve their desired goals e.g. Kane killed Abel; Jacob deceived Isaac into believing he was Esau; Laban tricked Jacob into marrying Leah; David sent Uriah Heep into the thickest part of a battle so he would be killed and he could then marry Bathsheba; Peter and Paul offered money to the church at Jerusalem in the hope that James (then the leader at the church of Jerusalem) would be more amendable to their belief that Gentile could be part of the church without having to undergo Judaic rites (e.g. be circumcised) but James firmly rejected the offer! This circumcision requirement is recorded in Acts 15. My point is: who knows Jesus better and whose version of the gospel should one follow to be saved - James or Paul?
    16. After taking Jesus down from the cross, Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus had to think of an ingenious way to save Jesus upon finding that he was still alive! Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus are 2 men in the New Testament you would want for friends! However, I couldn't help but wonder: is Joseph of Arimathea the itinerant Joseph of Bethlehem, Nazareth and Capernaum for who else may claim Jesus' body unless he were a close relative if not the father?
    17. Look at the names of Jesus and his 4 brothers - James(aka Jacob); Joseph (aka Joses); Judah (aka Judas/Jude); Jesus (aka Joshua); and Simone. The order in which these names first appear in the book of Genesis suggests that James was the first-born; Joseph was the second; Judah was third; Jesus was fourth; and Simone, last! That would be the likely order when a Jew so wishes to name his 5 sons! If this is the case, then Jesus wasn't born of a virgin! In any case, human virgin birth has never before been witnessed.
    18. Acts 1:9 -11 says of Jesus that 'a cloud received him out of their sight' into heaven. This is a violation of the laws of gravity. Further, without rocket-assisted propulsion, I doubt if after near-2000 years, Jesus has made it beyond Pluto!
I am a born-again atheist. I seek only to know the truth. Years of pondering on the bible led me to my hypothesis that Jesus survived the cross. He would be appalled at what he and the Church had wittingly and/or unwittingly done!
    I rest my case.
