      Ragnarock was a fun movie, but it was not a particularly good movie. The jokes undermined any dramatic moments the movie should've had, and, for a movie so focused on death and destruction, it really didn't seem to care about any of it. The story and the tone were diametrically opposed in a way that's just really frustrating. Jojo Rabbit had a much better handle on balancing tone and story.

    • @Perserra
      @Perserra 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I hope this movie is a little less fun than Ragnarok. For a movie literally about the end of a civilization, it had way too many jokes. If Love and Thunder has like half, or two-thirds, as many jokes, it will be much better for it.

    We could change the title of this video to “Natalie Portman Uncomfortably Talks About Taika Waititi for 15 Seconds” but that also wouldn’t describe what’s worth watching in the video. Nat talks Taika at 3:55 but don’t skip to there. Really. Literally everything else in the interview is more interesting than that.

    The movie is based on Jason Aaron's second half run on Thor. Where Jane becomes Thor (it's not a TITLE. It's a NAME.), and well.....um...the book had good art....and sold well...but umm....it wasn't..really that well recieved. There was a lot of "What?! A woman!?" stuff in there, and textbook neo-fem stuff in there....and many readers felt angered, and insulted. (oh, and there's a part where Jane Thor tells Thor to "Calm thine tits". Now...this is seen as empowering and cute...BUT if it was the other way around...it's sexist, and people would want Jason Aaron's head on a spike! So it's only sexist...WHEN MEN DO IT?) when readers complained about this, they were called "women haters", "Sexists", "Racists" and such by the writers and editors. Yes, I read a little of it...and it was...not as strong as I hoped. It was kind of predictable, it seemed to try too hard...

Young Millennials and Gen Z had their first full blown election experience back in 2016, so we were instantly introduced to all of the bullshit. So a lot of us took that experience and have been working to try and make things better for the future. Gen Z especially is doing so much work on the activism front(s), it's incredible.

      I've never read the comics but what I've heard is the hammer just requires someone to be righteous, not physically strong. So she won't have to look any different to wield it or use it's strength. I assume they'll give her some body suit with nods to Thor's signature look but not make her any more buff.

      @@turbulentbeauty They had a recent issue a few months ago where a garage owner in his 60s or 80s (hard to tell) picked up the hammer and transformed to young and muscle bound. I think even in the comic series that had Jane pick up the hammer she transformed to much more muscular. Mind you she was super frail and fighting cancer so big transformation.

      I didn't understand it to be about fame but rather young kids have a hard time seeing a parent in a different context. For example a toddler may be sad if they see their mom pretend to be someone else's wife and other kid's mother in a movie. They may think their mom has a second family. And of course she also has some roles that are too mature content wise for a small child.

    She is not Thor. Thor is his name not his title. This always gets my goat when a character's name is somehow confused with his title. He is God of Thunder and his name is Thor. Calling her Thor just because she carries the Hammer now is just silly. That is why they call another character Beta Ray Bill. They don't call him Thor

      Um, it's been both a name and a title since the days of Eric Masterson carrying the hammer in the 80s and 90s, and it was even addressed within the Goddess of Thunder run as to why Jane was being called Thor. So maybe do your research before you start complaining about something that was very clearly explained in the comics on multiple occasions?

Lol obviously everyone knows masterson was called Thor such as others who wielded the hammer. But why exactly? You’re doing what everyone who doesn’t know what they’re talking about does. making a well-known factual claim but leaving out the evidence to actually answer the question at hand. May I ask if you even read the Thor comics besides the Jane Foster ones? Or is your best friend google giving you this information?

    • @LaFemmeFictionale

       @Raven ! 1) In Thor Vol 4 #4, Thor Odinson specifically said that he'd lost the right to call himself Thor, while the then-unknown Jane was worthy of it. He started going by his patronymic while she used the Thor mantle up until her death (and subsequent resurrection).
      2) The entire point of the hammer's enchantment is that it transforms its wielders into Thor while still letting them retain their own identity. That's been the deal since the very first Journey into Mystery appearance of Donald Blake. It would have been weirder if Jane *hadn't* called herself Thor while wielding Mjolnir. Basic comic logic.
      3)I have a 4 part video series detailing the history of Jane Foster across movies, tv, and comics, including a video that features Jane Foster comic aficionado Rosalind Mosis covering the comic history. So, in order to get screenshots for that video, I read basically the majority of the comics featuring Thor Odinson and Jane Foster. And even crap like the Matt Fraction run and its horrific ending for Donald Blake.
      4) Calm your tits and kiss my shiny uru hammer, gatekeeper.
