I don’t think the money was an incentive. She doesn’t seem the money hungry type. She’s turned down plenty of roles that would’ve paid stupidly well. I think it’s fair that she was over her role as Jane “the love interest” who had a little side role. She’s Natalie fucking Portman, she shouldn’t have to turn down other opportunities for a year for such a small and pretty insignificant role. This new Thor is much more exciting for her, very feminist forward and a lot of character development.
I used to badmouth the idea of Gal Gadot being Wonder Woman ("Could they have picked a skinnier actress?"). But with special FX and the right costume, she kind of pulled it off. I believed her as Wonder Woman. So I think they can something similar to Natalie Thorwoman.
The Jane Foster Mighty Thor storyline was FANTASTIC! Also more than a little emotionally tragic. I hope they follow that storyline and really let Natalie show off her acting chops. PLEASE, if you are not familiar with the Jane Foster Thor story, PLEASE get it and read it. You will be amazed at how good it is. Incredibly talented art too. I know the movies don't follow the comic storylines, but this one, they really should.
