    I can understand why you're so excited about these tools. I hope they iron out the kinks.

      I’m sure they will! Building apps is HARD, and making a vtt great is literally impossible

    I've used the Mothership Companion app and it is sooo beautiful and easy to use. That said, yes, the fact it fights against you on homebrew makes it imperfect. Freehand drawing would be nice too. In the future, having community features allowing users to share homebrew rules, maps and the like would take this to the next level.

      EXACTLY because the game system itself is not that way at all

    I use alchemy for the 'scenic' and sound effect parts of mothership. It works well.
    But I think now that online sessions are a thing and group rolls, im going to be using the mothership app alongside the visuals in alchemy. thanks for your video!

    I think it is very clean, easy/simple to use, and a fast application. It's quite a nice option to have. I'm sure they'd love to add more features to the App, but such things are expensive and time-consuming as they inevitably lead to more bugs and performance concerns. -Frankly, I am impressed that they have as many features in the App currently, as they do, given the small market share they're working with.

      Yeah I find the thing wildly impressive and I cannot wait for future updates

    Would love to know who constructed/programmed the app. In the future I’d like to develop a VTT for ttrpgs using playing cards.

      This is DOPE, and all the info about it can be found on the MOSH discord!

    I'm digging the Mothership app for what it is, but don't know that I'll use it in games much. I want them to keep adding to it though, as I'm excited about where they can go with it. I'll second your call for third party product integration. On the subject of third party stuff, if you ever want to give a review to some of those, I'd for sure watch!

      In person I would be fine with players having phone characters? But we’ll see when I start testing it in games

    Do you think there is much benefit to using the app for in-person sessions?

    • @minimoose7890
      @minimoose7890 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      I've used it in-person for character-sheets and dice rolling. I found it very useful to quickly use the App to give a player the character-sheet to take over an NPC when their original character died during the session.

      I think people always having their character sheets on them is AWESOME

    I’ve been using the app for a while. The one thing I can say is that it needs a new panic system that is editable, you can edit the weapons and add custom weapons so I don’t know why you couldn’t add a panic system like that. 🤷‍♂️

    Love Mothership but, as a GM I am still a bit confused about the skill system. Why do you end up having a higher chance of success at advanced skills, than you do on more basic skills? Can someone clarify how this makes sense?

    • @MilesAwayGames
      @MilesAwayGames  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I mean "sense" and game mechanics rarely mesh well, but I justify it that the benefit from a doctorate level education (which is what the game aligns those skills to in fictional parity) is much more effective at improving your ability than a vhs training course on asteroid mining.
      But...
      There's an opportunity for a mod here. you've given me an idea.

    • @Daniel-Strain
      @Daniel-Strain 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@MilesAwayGames Yes, but if I have a doctorate in hyperspace (+20), why am I only a +10 in mathematics. It has the effect of making all the basic skills harder than the advanced skills to succeed at. Or maybe I'm misunderstanding how it's supposed to be played? Thanks!

    • @MilesAwayGames
      @MilesAwayGames  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @ no you have it right, and this is why we always need more games because that makes PERFECT sense to me!

    • @Daniel-Strain
      @Daniel-Strain 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@MilesAwayGames Thanks again for the response. Sorry, I am just trying to understand you meaning: Do you mean it makes sense that one with a doctorate in hyperspace would be better at that than mathematics? If so, I agree too, but why can't I get a +20 in mathematics with a degree in that? What I was getting at was that the lower level skills end up being harder because their bonus is smaller - even if I proceed onward to higher level skills.

    yo ... can someone over at that company just pay a developer like a few hundred or whatever and make an official 1E sheet for Roll20 or Foundry? Like there is no VTT support for this game aside from this phone app. Most people don't want to play on thier phones, they want to play on a computer based VTT. Phone seems fun if you're playing live and just want to bring over your phone instead of your your notebooks but look ... this is a weird competion thing where they are controlling people's access to online play and I am a big backer of Mothership but this is corporate powergrabby behavior more akin to WoTC being dodgy with licensing and such.

    • @MilesAwayGames

      I agree. I am honestly very pleased with the recent fad of all games on all platforms, because consumer choice is awesome. It did exist but it was… terrible.
