The cr920 is using magazines made by Checkmate, who also makes the mags for Shield Arms. What Shadow did was essentially take a frame the same width of the 43x and made it as short as the 43 frame. Then Checkmate made shorter magazines than th S15, and this makes it the perfect size and capacity for edc.
I've been saying this. I didn't know it was the same magazine manufacturer. I hope these work better then the S15. If they get a good reputation I might cut a 43x frame short to use the cr920 magazines
It's just a 43x cut short with a metal magazine and some Gucci flare. Rumor has it checkmate makes the s15 and cr920 metal magazines. And the s15 works in the cr920, and the 43/43x slide works.
I look forward to hearing how it shoots compared to the 43X. I spent a year comparing a P365 to a 43X (both with optics), and ended up with the P365. But I keep hearing this shoots super nice. **Make sure yours doesn't have the "butt-barrel" which they're replacing for free, and hopefully you won't have the trigger issue that others on YT have had. :)
Yeah, I checked to make sure this didn’t have the butt barrel the minute I picked it up. So should be reliable. It seems like shadow system has great customer service. So if I do have any issues I’m confident they will take care of the issue. Being a smaller company compared to Glock or sig, they have to go above and beyond for their customers. Are you considering getting cr920 over the p365?
I have a MR920 and love it. I'm really interested in this...BUT...the proprietary mags is a real problem for me. Not sure yet, currently sticking with my 43x for summer carry
I hear you, I guess the question is how many mags do you need. It comes with two mags, one for flush fit (10 rounds) and extended (13 rounds). For me 1 additional mag is all I need for EDC but if your avid range shooter I can see where you may want more mags. If you use shield arms with your 43x to get you to 15rounds you have to use a proprietary magazine and they are pricey. Shadow arms magazine pricing is actually not too bad but they probably will have supply shortages on it until the company grows more.
@@OdenTactical I do go to the range a lot and usually save my shield mags for there. I just like the interchangeable aspect of Glock mags with my 19, 920, AR9 and P80 builds. It would be nice to have the same functionality with my 43x. As far as when I carry, 2 mags is what I roll with anyway and they are the glock mags. I'm being picky I know and probably just being this way to try and talk myself out of another purchase 🤣. I love what Shadow Systems has been doing tho so I'll more than likely get one before the year is over with 🤦🏽
I never sell guns only collect them. there might’ve been one or two firearms I regret buying but nowadays I rent, I shoot, if I like I buy. Reliable guns like Glocks SIGs and many other’s I never sell. I’ve shot my friends CR920 nice piece. I’m just more proficient with my Sigg 365X
Budget plays a role in me making decision to sell, part of my pitch to my wife to drop $1100 on a cr920 and a $1200 on a dr920 is that I would sell some of my other firearms. And I’m ok doing that because I don’t necessarily need a ton of guns sitting in a drawer not being utilized (except when I decide to go to range). Also even if I go to range I would like to spend my time with the gun that I carry everyday and the gun that is my home defense rather than a collection of firearms. Also my thought process is I would rather one loaded and decked out gun that has all the bells and whistles over a whole bunch of basic stock guns. When TH-cam makes me a millionaire, I’ll buy it all back jk, lol
@@OdenTactical I know that’s right. I used to have a bigger collection of guns until my wife found out they weren’t $100 each, like I originally I told her so.
Nice video, well done. Just need a better mic on you. They aren't even expensive these days. That audio was hard to endure tbh. Look forward to future reviews with that fixed.
Shadow systems has been a company for around 6 years and has not worked out all the kinks and issues. Glock has been around for over 40 years and is tried and true. SS looks pretty.. Glock works Everytime.
Your right that just because it is a WPS gun doesn’t make it better BUT the stippling work, improved magazine capacity over the 43 and 43x (with Glock mag) does make it a better firearm!
I personally would stick with Glock because it does have proven track record with reliability and also would just stick with oem mag.. too many videos out there that shows shadow systems malfunctions out the box for me to even get one. I believe if you pick a firearm it should function flawless out the box
Tbh, My glocks have jammed just like any other Gun. I understand that Glock has a great track record and in terms of reliability it’s definitely up there. I use to swear by Glock and refuse to look at any other gun besides Glock because it’s known as the words most reliable hand gun. But Glock is not the end all be all. OEM mag for Glock 43x is 10 rounds, That’s not that great when a hellcat can get 13 rounds with smaller grip. I think shadow systems has created a great product that comes with everything someone can possibly want on their Glock and not have to pay the hefty price tag to get it done. Shadow systems has proven that their customer service is top notch and if you have any issues with reliability or performance they will take care of you without charge. They are an ambitious growing company that listens to their customers. They addressed the barrel issue that was causing jams by sending everyone who has older barrel the new improved barrel for no charge.
@@OdenTactical I agree with what you are saying but just as I stated for my personal self I would would stick with glock just because of track record. I personally have never had jams or malfunctions in my glock and I’ve ran thousands and thousands of rounds using all oem parts. People tend to run into issues when they start upgrading with after market parts. Just like what I was stating I agree that shadow system is a great company who is very good with customer service and their engineering their firearms but like you said they had to replace the barrels of all the firearms that was sent out and depending on sales and how much many bought it. Those people are using those firearm as a self defense tool and will run into those issues it was having out the box.. people lives are depending on those tools and that’s just too many that have gone out to have issues with the barrel. That all boils down too track record.. shadow system is a great company and I believe in the future they will have that track record but for myself ile wait till that time.
Saw Palmetto has better mags. Shield had an opportunity twice to get their mags right yet they still make excuses. The palmetto mags are flawless. Little expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Hey! back again becuase I figured id ask some more about gear. I was thinking about getting the timney trigger but had a few people say it was amazing and others say its not because its not drop safe. just wanted to know your opinion. I plan on putting it on my CC but now I'm unsure about it being safe.
Tbh I’ve never heard of Timney triggers, I just looked it up and it seems good. I like the fact that they have safety still on their trigger. I might have people jump at my throat for what I’m about to say but I’m actually a fan of keeping the trigger stock with a 4-5lb pull. I find it to be a small safety in itself to not be too light to pull. I carry one in the chamber appendix so a hair trigger doesn’t exactly make me feel comfortable not that anything would happen.
@@OdenTactical I want to keep the trigger I have but it has a lot of take up and it’s gritty and idk why. It almost feels like it has two walls now and I’m really not liking it anymore.

Assuming that you want to restore trigger to how it felt when you first received it. Although if you go with the trigger your talking about you should be fine, this is probably not the best advice, so take what I’m about to say with a grain of salt but I personally have never dropped my fire arm in the 6 years I’ve been carrying.
