You can turn the selector knob on the filter to close first. Then remove the cap and attach a hose to it. Then put the selector switch on back wash and turn the pump on reverse the steps to put it back to filter

You should be using a hose attachment to drain the water away from the pump/pool

Thanks. I plugged in my pump when doing this and it turned my tank into a fire hydrant lol. The water was so powerful it almost blew the pool over. I have a different pump than the one in this video, so that's most likely the problem.

When you rinse, wait til the sand in the bubble by the gauge is clear, then your pressure should be exactly as it should. If you still also have the hose adapter that came with your upgraded outlet, use that to hook your vacuum hose to and attach at your pump drain when backwashing to drain away from your electric.

So, my pool was filthy, been vacuuming it, back washed and back washed... pressure still too high... replaced hoses, and seals, pressure is still up... so I decided to look IN the sand filter, and the sand is pretty littered, but also the grid on the bottom of the valve is pretty crammed fill of debris. could this be causing the increased pressure - looking for a video to tell me how to clean that thing. - so when you take off the valve head, from the sand containing reservoir, that thing is filthy, are you following my description - I guess I should locate the manual, and see if that tells me anything... its about 5 -6 years old - on its second batch of new sand.

Great video! I JUST got my intex 32x16 pool set up. I added 320 lbs of salt to it yesterday and got INTO the pool to help dissolve the crystals. I ran the filter pump only for 12hrs as instructed and at 24 hrs will kick on the salt pump. Manual says filter will auto turn on at the same time every day, dont understand how it knows the hour i turned it on at since it doesn't have a clock but anyways, my question to you, how often should the filters be running? Everyday? How many hours?

ggg's fan the sand filters the water your pressure issues could be caused by air in your line open the top knob on the leaf catcher until the air escapes and water starts to flow out tighten and try again also when backwashing run on backwash for at least 30 seconds then run on rinse for one minute and until there is no sand in the sight glass if you are using both return lines you can close one I either filter from the top ( skimmer basket connected ) or from the middle of the pool I get better flow that way than with both on at the same time

Is it normal to lose some filtermedium (in my case glass) during a backwash?
First when I got a sandfilter, i got myself talked in to use zeolyte. After messing around for a couple of months to get the water clear using all sorts of expensive products, I decided to switch from zeolyte to glass. Water is perfectly clear now only using chlorine.
First time I performed a backwash after filling the filter with glass, it lost a handful of that glass while backwashing. I notice that the loss of glass is reducing as I perform more backwashes. Two possibilities: 1. a part of the glass is to fine causing slipping through the exhaust collector of the sandfilter. 2. My outlet collector is broken.
I don't have any glass particles in my pool during filtering, and I never touched the valve of the sandfilter while the pump was running. So there must be another reason...

Hello, recently bought a intex sand filter with intex sand, it's the newest one 2019/2020 1200GPH. Ive done what instructions said, but when I turn the pulley to filter, sand comes out into the pool, even though I have done a backwash till clear, also the handle/pulley is so hard to pull around and I do compress down the leaver too, feels like the spring is too tight or over sized. Hope someone can help please.

If you have a intex sand filter you need to get a spider gasket. If you take the entire top of the filter off and loosen the screws the top will come off and the gasket is on the underside. I had to Google spider gasket to find mine it was like 6.00 but the shipping was around 10-15.00 its crazy

And what about a grounding wire? Just sayin'......ZAP!!! Ooops. Too late.Oh...and I see you didn't flush your filter and that sight glass afterwards until it was clear (about 10-20 seconds).
