Wow, great video! Thanks for posting, and thank you for including the bit about how we managed to get the word "an(d)" into the game. Memory was SUPER tight back then; we literally would trim sounds down byte by byte.
The quality of the research is amazing, I didn't know how they got the "and" sound effect and I didn't know wreck n ball had video footage, absolutely stunning video
great recap! something i noticed when watching the Wreckin' Ball demonstration myself - after the Williams suits see the cloth taken off, the first clear remark made by people in the room is "this is fifty-cent pinball." i think that's a very telling sign of how concerned the industry was about the shift from 25-cent pricing to 50-cent pricing, and how the playfield extending into the backbox could be seen as *a gimmick that was interesting enough for players to accept the higher price.* (i hadn't heard about the dollar-bill acceptor before this, but i'm guessing that Pat got hold of one for Wreckin' Ball just to reinforce this very point during the pitch!)
Thanks! That’s a very good observation. This game really does feel like a shifting point into the 90s golden age. Technology and innovation was being pushed like never before. It still feels like a lot when I have to put a dollar in for a single game 😅
Actually, there are two ways to beat the King of the Hill: You described the first way: Lock one of the two balls into the Time Lock(similar to Road Kings). Shoot the other ball up the Banzai Hill. Shoot the ball to the upkicker, then use the flipper to hit the Captive Ball. If you collect the A-B-C targets during Multiball, hitting the Captive Ball scores 1 Million plus an extra ball. The other way that you didn't mention: During Multiball, light the Red Hot, Blue Beard, Yellow Belly and the Green Machine targets, then shoot the Ramp to collect 1 Million.
Another I played irl. Real quarter muncher and way too busy for me. I tended to focus on the staples like Mars Attacks (probably my all time favorite) and other Williams 90s stuff. Pat Lawlor seems to be my favorite designer.
I always thought this was a very interesting start for Pat Lawlor who to this day is my favorite pinball designer. I would really like to try that game on location if I were to ever find one, good luck in that though
You beat me to the punch! I've had the idea to film an informative special about Banzai Run for a while now (I'm lucky enough to own a nice example of the game). But... your video covers everything! And what a great video you have made. Very informative. Very well researched, written and edited. This was a joy to watch. Thank you. Ps. Big chuckle when you said 'Bram Stroker'. :D
I used to play this game all the time at a local pinball arcade! It was a league favorite and I would always shout the call outs! They got rid of the game a few years ago, would love to play one again.
Great series of videos you got here man, I got a few tables myself including a Big Guns like you showed in the vid. Would love to see a video on Centaur, that's one of the ones I really like.
Great work done here mate. Would you be able to share a link of the video where they talk about the speech being cleverly altered. Id love to hear that lecture in full.
Latest & Last Climb Available Pinball Machine. (Too Much Electronic Lamp.) I saw 30 years before this machine. (Climb Disable Will 12 Lamps Available Twice After Beat Rival, Then Multiball.) Current Pinball Series, Digital Screen Mode. (Past 1 Million is too high score.)
A few years later Williams casino games division came out with slot machines with a vertical pinball gimmick. Having played it, I'm not sure if having any pinball skills was beneficial.

Great video as always! Can we get a video on Black Hole next?
I am impressed you managed to dig out footage from the prototype presentation
BEST HISTORY OF PINBALL YET! Awesome job Kevin.
Thank You , this was a treat. Great research.
Thanks Cory!
This is my favorite pinball game of all time. It's addicting. I would always go to one place in New Jersey to play it when I was younger.
This is really amazing how it was looking better compared to other pinball cabinets that I was looking for…
Great videos Kevin, do you have plans to do more? Theres so many great pinball machines out there, sure hope you find the time to cover some others.
Yes more to come! I’ve just taken a break

I would really love to see a video about the history of the machine: bride of pinbot. If you want you could do the whole pinbot trilogy in a video!
love the video, although i was completely lost on the cows joke
edit: ah williams recurring easter egg

I just posted a Mars Attacks video!

Too collectable to be run on location

Love this game. The only issue I have with it is I have a tendency to lose track of the ball with the checkerboard pattern on the playfield lol.
Great vid as always Kevin, keep them coming. Tales of the Arabian Nights, Theatre of Magic, or Cirqus Voltaire on the horizon?
or Medival Madness, or Attack from Mars
I randomly found a Tales of the arabian nights on location at the college I was going to at the time. Very fun game and not easy to find to play

Just discovered your channel and became a subscriber. Any details on Star Trek TNG? Thanks.
hope you continue making this videos.. love these :D
Stern catacomb from 1981 has a playfield in the backbox. Guess you missed that one.
Huh I guess that’s true. Maybe it would be better to say flippable with the same pinball?

Banzai Run is coming out on Pinball FX this week so prepare for some extra traffic as new player get introduced to the table.
12:32 I'm the true source of the Pinball Arcade video. Farsight did make this in Pinball Arcade, but the video footage is improperly sourced.
Ah thank you!
Cannot wait for the next video. Legendary channel.
Great work done here mate.

@@KevinCarrington all good :D happy to help!
So glad I bought this on Pinball Arcade before Zen studios took over. One of my favorite ones for sure...Would love to play it in real life someday :)
Great video, as usual.
It is also possible to enter the hill using the top right flipper.
Amazing game and a great video.. 👍
