It is, such a tragedy. I stood on the stone for two reasons, I was placing a coin on it, and the other, you begin to sink into the saturated sand in that location 🤙
I have missed you my friend here in Canada. Just saw your new video flash up and expelled a "yeeeessssss!!!!!" as if I had just won a big pile of cash. Thank you for taking me home to Britain.
Hey Chris, how are you buddy? That’s very nice of you to say, you’ve made my morning 😀. I’ve put a few videos up recently, I don’t know if you’ve seen those also 🤙
Good grief, no, TH-cam didn't bounce them into my homescreen!!!! Working on them now my friend with a glass of something strong. Thank you for all you do and taking me back to the British Isles from the wintery tundra of Canada.@@mackieoutdoors9410
@@chrisharrison277 thank you for all your support Chris, it’s very much appreciated. I have a video I’ll be posting soon on William Wallace, watch out for that one 🤙
@@mackieoutdoors9410 wow, can't wait. My introduction to Scottish history as a English person was admittedly post-Braveheart and going to visit the Wallace monument with my Dad in Stirling and that horrific 'statue' of Mel Gibson. Be T the magic and real history never left me. 3 month ago I got back to the UK with my 9 yr old daughter and we climbed the monument and I spoke to her of the true history of beautiful Scotland. I can't wait for your video my friend.
@@chrisharrison277 I think many people found an interest in history following the movie Braveheart. Although the movie was inaccurate historically, it did spark interest in all aspects of history throughout the world. I’m glad that you enjoy my videos, my hope was that it would bring people to my channel with the same interests as myself. I also have a tiktok channel called mackie outdoors, it’s full of snippets from my various videos. If your interested, I’ll see you there and say hi. My fb page is Dene Mackie if you’d like to add yourself as a friend 🤙
So sad that these clearly innocent women were put through such torment because they were ‘different’ for want of a better word. I have never heard of this lovely lady til now but it’s of special significance to me as having taken much interest in my family history and being knowledgeable about how many of us ‘Adie’s’ there are, the possibility of being a relative of hers seems fairly high 🤗 that’s fine by me. I shall be looking in to it I think.
@@mackieoutdoors9410 lived there for a few years. Some interesting pirate and plague graves etc kicking about up that way. There is a wedding venue there also and across from the entrance to it is a very interesting ruin of an old church and graveyard. On the road past Crombie there is also a graveyard that a certain Burke & Hare are meant to have frequented. Great video as always and well notes about the university recreating Lilas face. The grave was made out of a certain stone due to particular beliefs about the properties of it and it was positioned in such a way that if she rose from the dead she wouldn’t be able to make the shore. Strange and brutal times!
@@scribblesdoodles I’ll need to re-visit the village. I was there to film the grave, but from what you’ve told me, I’ll definitely be back buddy. Thanks for the info, much appreciated 🤙
The name “Witch” was given to her because that was what she was accused of being. I clearly state in the video that she was innocent, and that anyone accused of being a Witch was also innocent. The historical records have her grave named as the “Only known grave of a Witch in Scotland” and with a critical eye, you can read the documents and see that in unenlightened times, she was seen as such. In my video, I give the back story and then the truth.
Tragic story. They can't harm her anymore. Thank you for telling a little of her story. I don't think i would've stood on that stone though...

Did you take a wander up the wee hill nearby to the old graveyard? 🪦
No I didn’t. Are you a local?

There's a mosaic in the Cowgate where the last "witch" was burnt in Dundee.
Horrible history fact
Imagine being killed for made up “witchcraft”, dead for years and still being referred to as a witch by a dude on TH-cam
