This report is biased. They ask the landlord hard questions about his income, but they don’t inquire about the tenant’s welfare income, disability checks, possible tax returns for her dependents, etc…
@Chaka Green The "seven fathers" may have been a guess, or may just have been hyperbole. But it is a family of 7, that was in the report. But however many fathers, does she have a job? Did she? What about child support, is she collecting that? It is no dispute that now she has more children than she can afford. But we don't know how/what she was doing each time she chose to have a child.
700 for housing 7 people is way below market value. In dallas I’m paying 1200 for one bedroom apt. No way that housing unit can be maintained properly with that many tenets .
It's a her problem. An individuals plight and personal responsibility for social services should never fall on a landlord. It is the government that needs to step in, whether or not she can apply for more affordable housing funds.
@Kimberly Nicholson: No No Kimberly . that isn't right. the laws of local governments need to be changed. maybe she did get 2thousand dollars for stimulus payment. she gave it to the slumlord who on purpose did not give them or her a recipe . paying cash is not at all a good idea. the way I understand this if they tried to give a money order the slumlord WILL NOT ACCEPT THE PAYMENT. You can't beat $700/month. The landlord can hardly have anything left after paying property taxes, utilities, and other expenses that come with owning a property. And then when your tenants don't pay, how can he do the repair?
I agree. She shouldn't have signed the lease. She doesn't even pay rent and expect him to fix it. The fact that he even provided an option to get it fixed and he'll deduct it was so kind of him. As its harder for this Govt to steal whats yours & you don't have a cap on how much you charge for your services
They can't and with that cheap of rent, the should facilitate their own minor repairs. Also I noticed some of the pictures the media is posting is showing dirty faucets, sinks, etc., that is the Tenant's fault if they live in dirt and filth, not the Landlords......
Normally I would be on the tenant’s side, but damn she owes $3625 in back rent. How do you expect your landlords to fork out couple more grands to fix everything, when you already owe him $3625.
Let me guess, the fathers of all her children don't pay child support? 7 kids, wow! At what point did you think it was a bad idea to have more children? Never? The tenants falsely accused him of robbery, the police put him in jail, and his home is robbed the same day. Suspicious? Damn, this guy needs to sue the police for falsely imprisonment, and damages due to it.
Right, and someone needs to make sense out of all of this because she stated the rent is $700 Well, she has to be on some sort of welfare, if not, she's been collecting pandemic unemployment weekly...on top of that, stimulus checks have been sent out. Not to mention, she said both her mother and brother who are disabled live with her. Full disability pays $800 to $1800 per month... Somethings not making sense here.
@@pablomarquez-gonzalez7946 You said that like I just posted the full theory of relativity formula. No, i'm just using common sense, as well as everything i just stated is open public record. Now is it possible her mother and brother are disabled with no income? Sure, that's a possibility, but that would also be pretty odd because if they are disabled, then there's no reason for them not to be on disability like millions of others disabled. I also know people with children can get welfare, i also know that pandemic unemployment has ran for over a year across the country, as well as stimulus checks sent out.
That's NOT what's going on here. Apparently they've been living like this well before covid even hit or any eviction moratoriums can into play. The A/C doesn't work properly because the return filter is clogged, that's why the black fuss is coming out of the vent! Darcy, did you tell the tenant that she is responsible for changing the filter on a regular basis? Nope! It must be the fault of the landlord right Darcy!
So it sounds like she received a nice tax return the earlier part of the year. She’s a caretaker of two disabled adults with three children. Why did she not make a down payment on something much better.
Because she believes the gravy train may move on. And the sympathy may run out. Where was she before the gov't seized the landlord's property's and make laws that force us to be uncompensated unwilling providers of bad tenants that 1. If they do not pay rents, then where do you think the small landlord to get money to repair to pay property tax., the mortgage? If all the small landlord all gone, where do theses people live? Do the local gov will solve these problem?
Or, or. Somebody else who plans to live there could buy it, pay the mortgage, fix it up, and save money cause the landlord wouldn't have to get their cut and the tenant wouldn't have their hands tied on repairs. First of all, stop trying to insult a person when they're experiencing hardship, as if you & everyone in your family has lived in perfect circumstances without nary a controversy with a landlord to speak of. Ms. Campbell explained exactly what happened to that sink, and if you had any kind of basic analytic & interpretive skills, the condition of that home should have communicated to you the extremely poor state of disrepair that would precipitate such damage.
But this isn’t something new. She even said the other tenant had issues too. The landlord knew the issues then. They get condemned they won’t get any money AND have to pay out of his pocket to fix things AND find new tenants. Not to mention in some places you don’t need to pay if landlord won’t fix issues. @@lilymd888 THE LAW IS: Nevada tenants are legally entitled to rental property that meets basic structural, health, and safety standards and is in good repair. If a landlord fails to take care of important maintenance, such as a leaky roof or a broken heater, you have several important legal rights, including:
the right to withhold rent until repairs are made the right to "repair and deduct"-that is, to hire a repair person to fix a serious defect that makes a unit unfit (or buy a replacement part or item and do it yourself) and deduct the cost from your rent. This unfortunately, is the consequences of welfare. That's a big reason why I stopped being a social worker. She has seven children, so as a social worker I would give her exorbitant money monthly. That being said, people with the attitude like hers, will never get off of welfare because they are entitled. It's the worst attitude and the attitude I continually kept getting, The longer they were on welfare. When they're on section A or government housing, they literally have to pay around 10% of the rent, so the maximum it would be would be$100- $300 if it was a high-end fancy place (which is very unlikely, as they're zoned)... So yes if she got a job for 8 to 10 hours a week her rent would be paid.... But instead of looking at that, she wants to whine and complain and get sympathy from everybody else.... Ken, I was an LSW at the women's shelter in Vegas and at salvation army(women's shelter),and many others.... and I have the answer for you. As a single mother, and now with the laws in effect,( a single father,) for every child you have, especially for women, because they can have a child a year, they get big money from us taxpayers and they live on that income. they have to pay taxes on their welfare also. So a single mother with four children would get about $38,000- to 53, 420 a year in Vegas(more if you are on the WIC program or if you are pregnant or just gave birth because taxpayers pay the hospital costs as well as all the unlimited doctors appointments) That's combined cash, rent, food, bus passes, medical (Mom and children) and they get a huge huge tax refund for every child they have. it's about 4 to 6 grand for every child they have while they're single. That's why it's hard to get them off at the system. they make more money off the system by not working. That's why we try to put them in school or trading classes or something and give them a skill and pay for it through the government also, that will get them an education that will pay more than $50,000 a year. I absolutely agree with you as I have many friends that are landlords, And I made a comment on this thread also about that it's asinine landlords are having to get go fund me's because their tenants wouldn't pay rent for two years(welfare recipients absolutely have no excuse, as they just have to make phone calls to the government that's paying the rent).... and their contribution to the rent is bare minimum 1 to $300.....now the moratorium's up, landlords houses are trashed beyond recognition, and they don't have any money or help to get their houses together... I really wish this new wage transparency law would actually include welfare recipients as well, because that is a form of income, and they have to pay taxes on it, so I think everyone should be aware of what welfare recipients actually get and that might change a lot of things and open a lot of people's eyes when they see the actual amounts..... I live next door to them. The landlord, is an idiot on a good day, so I know I will not get anything fixed through him. They were living there with his legal tenant, who was running a side hustle B & B, for anyone who could give her money towards her rent. Thus, she was bringing people in there for the last several years to live there who should not have been, without the knowledge of her 'no show up' landlord, who no matter how much the surrounding homeowners tried to talk to, made it clear that he did not want to hear anything that we had to say. About this landlord and tenant, the bottom line is, that landlord in this case is not a saint, and neither is the tenant (who needs to clean up once in awhile), especially with that many people in a one bedrm apt, which is illegal. NO one collects rent, for cash only, and if he does, he is bilking the IRS big time, and that judge knew it, which is something that none of commenters here picked up on. And yes, he has money-the sympathy well for both of them is completely dry on many levels. He could not own the home that he owned without money, period. I bet you there were no 'code' violations at his house, believe me and you can make book on that, and his taxes on the property are not behind either. Ms. L. Churchill

Why is it so hard to comprehend that if the cash flow is cut off on a property (aka rent) the owner of the property can’t pay for repairs? There is such a willfully ignorant narrative about the crisis of the renters in the face of Covid, one that which leaves out the fact that landlords aren’t invincible to financial loss. I own three properties, and I am glad to say I do not lease them out to people, and instead list them on Airbnb.
I lived in a rental home for 3yrs, and it looked almost like it did the day I rented the place. Carpets had normal wear but i had no issues getting my sec dep back. These nasty people didn't pay rent and ruined the apt themselves. Her energy bill is $400 my a$$. I have my ac on almost day and night and it barely reached $250. This dirty woman is a damn liar!!!! I wonder how much welfare she receives wih 7 children, yet her baby daddys arent even around. People like this shouldnt breed

If she hasnt paid rent, why didn't she get repairs then? At least take the money and hire a person to fix some of the minor issues. The landlord is crap and so are the people he rents too,.
Sometimes between bills and kids you have to sacrifice bills. Like my mom struggled and she would rotate bills . Like pay some this month and the others next month.
That building needs to be demolished. Way too many expensive repairs needed, which the landlord is responsible for. That landlord is horrible --- and I'm sure he's a millionaire. Thanks to the DemonRats in the White House who don't care about humans.
I don’t mean to ask questions but I tend to question everything. If she has a disabled mother and brother like she claims then she should be receiving disability $ from the govt and if she has 2 other adults in the house how is it that she’s only looking for a 2 bedroom 🤔. Whenever she gets housing they would NEVER allow someone to live in an apt in that condition. It has to pass inspection every year and they wouldn’t allow a 2 bedroom for 3 adults and some number of children. Hopefully she figures something out.
who is they that wouldn't allow it? its not section 8 housing they just get money for being disabled. she should have kept paying since she never took a pay cut and then complained she would be on better footing.
@Franky Flowers ur right. There would be no “they” to judge how many people. Still I agree with the xtra money in disability she should have kept paying or at least paid most of it and worked out an arrangement or something. Shitty situation.
Also with 2 on disability she would have a lot of leverage for placement into a more adequate apt. Maybe this will work to her advantage in the long run. Hope so.
@@usmc72409 she probably wants to spend the least possible amount on a house. she gets enough for a better one but wants extra cash instead. id do that. id live in a trailer and keep as much money as possible.

Seven children, if she would work a job instead of having babies she could provide for herself. People put themselves in certain situations and then expect other people to solve their problems. Women on public assistance should be disqualified if they have a child while receiving assistance. Public assistance is for people needing temporary help, not those looking to live off the system permanently. We should not make excuses for lazy careless people.
What are all these people doing with their free money. They aren't paying their rent. If he is so bad then move. They must have bad rental credit if they moved there to begin with.
Before I started having numerous children, I think getting an education or job training might be a priority, so my children don’t grow up in such a sh!!ty environment. I’d also try to find a mate with some sort of growth potential. I feel sorry for the children, they will probably end up living the same way.
Why are you blaming her? You know she didn't create those babies by herself. At least she's trying to shelter them and advocate for their rights to a livable environment. Do you even wonder what their dad is doing to help?
@@ktrayn78 I blame her, because they are HER children. She made choices that led her to where she is. I don’t know where the father is, but of course he’s part of the problem. Do you think society should be responsible for paying for her decisions? I believe in holding people responsible for their own lives and the decisions they make. That said, I also believe people should have opportunities like free job skills training and basic education. I believe in giving people the skills to help themselves
Having been a landlord, I can say that many of these problems are the tenants fault. Leaving food is out is the source of her rat problem. Failing to wipe down moisture in the bathroom is the source of her bathroom mold and mildew problem. It takes 5 seconds with a screw driver to take off the vent grill, wash it in water, and stick a vacuum hose in there to suck up the dust. I once had a tenant that always took a shower in the bathtub with the shower curtain hanging OUTSIDE the tub, meaning the water would hit the curtain and run onto the bathroom floor instead of down the tub drain. Another brought in free Craigslist furniture which was infested with bedbugs and didn't say anything for 8 months as the infestation spread throughout the home. Tenants are complete idiots. They lack the intelligence to own their own home, which is why they rent and destroy other people's homes. Basic maintenance that they should be doing, like washing dishes and wiping surfaces....is beyond their comprehension. Take a look at her pigsty @2:45 and it is clear that she is the problem. The landlord most likely got tired of wasting money fixing things, only for the tenant to destroy it the following day.
That’s the catch - 22. They can afford to live their because landlords doesn’t spend money on proper management and maintenance. If someone comes in and runs it right they have to charge more or they will lose money.
I learned years ago. There was a Nevada law which if repairs are needed. After a month or 2 of documented dispute. A renter did not have to pay rent until repairs were completed. What happened to that law?

Two years ago before I threw in the towel and gave up renting out my house in NY because my tenant won't pay rent but keeps calling Department of Building to complain shits they caused and broke, while at the same time prevents me from entering the building. The fee from NYC was outrageous and I spent so much time off work to fix craps and going to DOB everytime for these fixes, and the tenant always wins the court refuses to see it from the landlords sides. Not all renters were assholes, my family rented more than ten years in the city before buying we were always responsible renters, we knew a lot of renters, we had never met anyone that could be so venomous and despicable as the renter we encountered, just every trick anyone can think of to make your life miserable she did it, she is the kind of people make you doubt humanity. In order to get her out, after more than 12 months, we finally got her out, and the back rents she owed us we opted to give up during the law suit in order to get her out quick. If we were to make her pay backrent during the eviction case it'd had taken much longer. Since then, we sold the house and moved out of NYC and moved South. I would assume that it is extremely difficult for a landlord to afford to make repairs to a unit when he/she is not receiving any rent from the tenant due to this covid pandemic. I'm sure that I heard the landlord say that he told the tenant to pay for any repairs she needed & he would deduct that portion of money from her rent & so with the money she's saved in not paying rent she should have enough to fix every issue in the apartment. I think that's a great idea & her best option in having her repair issues addressed & rectified. Sounds like a win-win plan.

Also the tax credits for children and in the last few months you got $250 every single month directly deposited into your account for every single child you have.... she should have received tons of cash in the last few months 😱

Get the money to landlords in a timely manner ,so that tenants don't get evicted. Governor, get that money to the landlords.
Before I started having numerous children, I think getting an education or job training might be a priority, so my children don’t grow up in such a sh!!ty environment. I’d also try to find a mate with some sort of growth potential. I feel sorry for the children, they will probably end up living the same way.
So true
totally right, have to think about the way kids are growing up
Once a slumlord always a slumlord! Period
Why are you blaming her? You know she didn't create those babies by herself. At least she's trying to shelter them and advocate for their rights to a livable environment. Do you even wonder what their dad is doing to help?

I blame her, because they are HER children.
Government regulations have made it impossible to build and own affordable housing.
There is likely much more to the story. They don't pay rent. Free loaders.
Perpetual victim
When I think of how horrible this world is I just want to cry.
Rent is cheaper in Las Vegas then pretty much the rest of the u.s.
if u can’t make it… u need to work more. I’m betting she doesn’t have a job
The mom ain’t starving either
I'm pretty sure it sounds to me that the apartment was a slum before she moved in and the tenants knew about it?
I have ran across some total dumps before when looking for a place to rent. If everything doesn't look right, GTFO
Yes, and rent should deposit in to court for that
@@diablo8317 That would work. The renter sending the rent to the court. The court holds the rent until the repairs are complete. Then they would receive that rent. If they don't do the repairs after a specified time frame. The the renter can move out and have those rental payments returned to them.
@@danor6812 at that time, it’s court decision.
She hasn’t paid rent in months. Did you watch the story?
@@hasenafarms6448 that why don’t understand what the point for this news, no paying rent, don’t want to move out, and keep complaining? I’m sure if she paying rent, she entitled for the law protection. Don’t complain if you break the law first
well when you have 7 people in a 1x1 i doubt this is all the landlords fault
Those so called apartments need to be condemned!!
Yes, start all over again.
That’s why we don’t have very low income housing anymore. You can condemn and demolish, but it won’t solve her issue. At least now she has the option of living in a cheapo slum. What is she gonna do when all available units are twice what she pays now? Be homeless?
The tenants need to be condemned
No the people living in them need condemned
Sure then they could live on the street
With those children she's been receiving monthly government assistance
Parents probably collecting disability too. The mom hid all the PS5s and iPhones before the news cameras showed up.
Single mom w/ seven kids... gross
Is that even legal if I did that s*** they would have already had CPS and all kinds of assholes at my door.
