The previous comments saying that you spend your time frivolously are ridiculous! The reason you have one of the best medical student channels is because it is REAL. I highly doubt anyone is 100% efficient all the time. There are ups and downs in such an intense line of study and the fact you document those moments is what makes your content so relatable. I think you are doing an amazing job and I can completely relate to being mere points away from an A.
Paused the video to write this: America, you are so strong. The reason I respect you and this channel so much is that you are so real and transparent. Most med bloggers never share this side of med school that are grades . Love you. Another A on the way soon.❤️
Ugh, omg I feel this so much! I'm a massive perfectionist (and i'm not saying this to brag, being like this is awful and I legit have a problem and I get massive anxiety attacks when my schooling grades don't go the way i hope them to) and I got a 79% on my pharmacology class....it was my most difficult class and it killed me, I was depressed for a week cos I never feel happy with anything unless its an A grade. I wish I wasn't like this because it's awful. Seeing America cry and reading your comments makes me feel for all of you. So I feel this 100%. I want to say that you can all do this, and I'm rooting for all of you.
I'm a pre-med student right now and watch your videos whenever I'm feeling discouraged about school. Your videos help me stay motivated when I get discouraged so thank you!
Omgosh...I've watched SO many med student vlogs: this video, hands down, BEST EVER! Thank you so much for being honest, and REAL, and showing the emotional side of working so hard in med school. (I have 2 years before I'll be applying to med school: I'm 35 yrs old now...so I'm ambivalent about doing this so late in life...but I'm hoping it works out (fingers crossed). Much love and blessings!! :)
Premed student here. It makes me feel so much better and gives me hope to see a med student that studies hard and also makes time for friends and fun. Plus, you seem genuinely happy and not like a zombie, unlike most other med school vloggers I've seen. Subbed! :)
I love your vlogs and await them eagerly each Saturday. This week's vlog was particularly real, which is what I love about your videos. I hope you have an easier time in the future dealing with the stresses of medical school. Seeing you cry over that B brought back my own memories of getting really upset over grades. Stay strong, America.
Watching your vlogs again and OMG this just proves you can do anything if you study hard. Not getting that one A did not stop you from becoming a surgeon. 👏🏽👏🏽💞
That speech/talk at the end is probably the most realistic and inspiring thing I've ever heard. You are an amazing person and I truly admire your positivity. You're someone I look up to and thank you so so much for doing these vlogs and talking to us, you have no idea how much this means to me and all your viewers
It's okay! It happens. One of my best exam grades in a course was when I studied the least, and one of my worst exam grades was when I studied the most. As long as you did your best and can change things to do better next time, it's okay!
Oh my goodness America... I almost had a heart attack when you were calmly and quietly talking about your rice to you shouting "ROCKETS WIN!! We're moving on!! We're moving on!!". 😂
I completely understand your little talk. I've had those thoughts too! I graduated with a bachelor's degree and for the last year I've been working on taking the pre reqs for nursing school. There's been times where I've worked full time, part time and been a student since I don't receive financial aid anymore since I graduated. It's been so challenging and at the beginning it was so easy to think, "I'll be happier when I'm in nursing school!" or "I'll be happy when I'm finally a nurse." It was on the hardest days that I had realize the beauty in the struggle. In those moments is when you realize how much you want to be a doctor (or a nurse for myself). I love watching your vlogs because you're real. You really try to have balance in all aspects of your life and I love that!
This was the video I needed to watch right now! I am studying for a subject I find so hard to understand, but this motivates me to keep on going and do the best I can!
You didn't get an A at that test, and I'm really happy about how you realized how the world didn't end because of it and how not having an A in one test won't make you a bad doctor or anything awful. I really did understand your words, happiness is a state of mind,, its not something you should fulfill with something or objects, rather than just a choice of and a way of living and I'm really happy you found happiness! I really love your videos, thanks for inspiring me! oh btw I love those dresses.
I watch your videos all the time and even though I'm only in high school, I understand the anger when you get a B...but I love how you gave a nice inspirational speech later on on how it wasn't worth stressing over and your world isn't ending and you will still be great... I really have to learn to do that lol..keep vlogging!
I needed this video more than you could ever imagine. I just finished up my first semester of undergrad as a bio pre-med student and I was feeling pretty hopeless just because I didn't make the grades I wanted. Thank you for sharing your struggles as well. It makes me feel a little less alone in this. :)
This is my favorite video of yours so far. I agree with your concept of being happy 😃 I think you really inspired me to be keep working towards my dream and enjoy the process even disappointments. Thank you America I think you’ll be an amazing surgeon because you are amazing and beautiful human being.
I seriously love you so much America! I can see you are growing. It was hard seeing you get emotional, but I am so glad you realized that the B is perfectly fine and will not hinder your goals. I can definitely relate because it took me a while to learn to not be so hard on myself. You are an inspiration to so many people. Keep on keepin' on, my girl! 🤓💕
my notion of what you were saying is that the journey is just as important as the destination and life doesn't "start" when you become a doctor or whatever career one is aspiring to be; people feel more "stable" because of a more stable income, etc. and that could make one feel happier but it also could not. I personally think I'll be happier when I'm more stable, but that's just me.
I know this is a year ago but I love what you were saying here. I think what you meant was we always think the future will make us so much happier but we forget that we are living in that future that we once thought years ago was so much better, still not as happy as we thought we would be. I am reading this book called Flow and it really connects to what you’re saying. I think that’s why you’re so much happier and human than a lot of med students...you know and love where you are NOW. You’re real and understand life isn’t always easy and that you can’t just blame it on med school.
You're my favorite med vlogger, literally! U'r so real when it comes to conveying how a med student's life really is. I'm a 3rd year and i find your vids very inspiring. Yeaa med school IS tough, but we're tougher. I'm going through the hardest time of my life right now yet i find peace and motivation in watching your vlogs. Keep doing what you're doing, stay true to yourself and who you are. I've been a subscriber since the beginning of your first vids. Best of luck america! Cheers from saudi arabia.
I remember those days in nursing school. Has a 3.982 going into clinical and couldn’t pull an A no matter how hard I tried. We had to maintain an 84 average. I did work full time and went to school full time and I was 39 at the time. You are so inspiring and truthful. I have no doubt you will touch future med students and you will go far. I hope you continue with your videos. Best of luck.
YOU ARE AWESOME! Yes, totally understood what you meant in the last part. Your vlog seriously gave me so much motivation to push through finals this week, so thank you! Good luck with all your exams and keep working hard. :)
I love you so much America. This video really helped me through my problems this week. Because like you know, we are twins, and we are exactly alike down to the way we think and pressure ourselves. You are doing to be a great doctor, and you make me feel confident that I'm going to be a great physical therapist! I LOVE YOU!
I absolutely love your positive mindset and how real you are America! Not many people would show the vulnerable sides of themselves for all to see, but you really bare it all. I have to say that I totally agree with your words on finding happiness in your present state. I’ve also had those thoughts lately and came to a similar conclusion. Also, wow that quote couldn’t have come at a better time 😅
I have been commenting on all your vlogs but I just found your channel and I love your vlogs so much. I start medical school in the fall, and I'm trying to brace myself for all the ups and downs I'm about to face (although I know there is no way to really be prepared for it). I appreciate you speaking on enjoying life regardless of what stage your in. As a premed it's easy to say to myself "ill be so much happier when I'm in med school cause I'll have direction and will be fulfilling my purpose!" and it's probably partially true, but I know it will come with its own set of challenges that I've never faced before. Anyways, just wanna say thanks for being so honest and positive in your videos! Keep up the good work!
I love your videos so much. love your energy and positivity. Even though medical school is difficult, you make it seem so easy with your courage and personality. you definitely give me hope as a pre med student that it's gonna be okay. Thank you so much.
I love all your videos! They inspire me and make me want to pursue medicine. Thanks for giving us all an insight into your busy yet fun life. All love to you❤️❤️
12:20 Omg America this is exactly what I need at the moment! I had a failure in my last test despite my hard effort and I'm having another tomorrow and I didn't study as much as I wanted to! We need time to take care of ourselves sometimes not only focus on the studies!
I can't wait till you become a doctor and watching you on your beautiful journey!! You are one of the realist people I have seen, good luck!! (PS yes Rockets!! )
I'm not even a med student and I watch your videos. I like your spirit and your vision towards life. I wish to have a friend like you. you are not jus a bookworm studying all day and knowing nothing about real life. the way you live, the way you handle your life make me envious and proud at the same time. by the way I'm from other side of the world so :)) yeah you are a celebrity now !
Oh my god what you went through with being one point away from an A literally happened to me with biochemistry. The EXACT same thing and there was nothing I could do. I talked to the professor and he was stubborn as hell so I was stuck with a B on my transcript in one of the most essential classes to get into PA school. Fortunately, It all worked out and I am now a PA-S in my top choice program.
You are so smart and inspiring. I find it amazing that you are doing so well in school while also enjoying life. I wish I had your brain when I was 22! I am binge watching all of your videos :-)
You are so incredible. I love your videos and you are such an inspiration to me. I'm starting college in the fall and I want to be a doctor too. I needed to hear all of this and just know that you are doing so amazing and you will be ok :) Thank you for being you and for being a great role model!!
I know what you mean about life...it is never easy and it definitely never gets easier....just have to be happy in the moment with what you are dealing with...keep going...you have a nice personality and I am sure things will fall into place for you...love your vlogs!! :) ❤️
Melina Kyriakou this was me last year!!!!! i was one mark away from meeting my entry requirements. i've made it into med school now!! don't give up, i almost did but it's entirely possible to be victorious through all of this! x
I WAS IN SHOCK WHEN YOU TALKED ABOUT THE GUY THAT HAD TO SEND MONEY TO HIS FAMILY BACK HOME LIKE WTFFFF poor guy I’d be tremendously stressed knowing my family could barely survive while also juggling med school omg
What she was trying to say is that it alleviates her to know that life won't be so bad in the future --the future is often time describe as being perfect when it's not-- because she has overcome difficulties that have prepared her and made her understand that happiness in life is having peace of mind.
Your videos are very inspirational, both educationally and emotionally. Don't label yourself based on a letter grade. You seem a very loving and caring person, which also makes a good doctor, not just A's. I liked and understood what you said towards the end... life is never going to be perfect but it's how we choose to live life that will make us live happier. You got this!!!!🙌🏻
The concept you're talking about actually has a term, it's called the Hedonic treadmill. It's the idea that happiness is only found in the next step/achievement in you're life, yet it's truly fulfilled. The grass isn't greener on the other side, it's greener where you water it!! Love you America!! 😁💕
you inspire me a lot and thanks for that, dont change, and yup life its always gonna be like that, life it is what you fight for too, and you work hard so you will get what you deserve =)
Don't cry because of notes! you can be the greatest in the medical field! just believe it, believe in yourself!!! Ignore the pain cause the pain will never stop.
Dear America I’m new at looking at your videos and they really motivate me and inspire me that I am not alone with my dreams. I’m not a medical student but I am currently working my way to be a school psychologist. A month ago I was rejected admission for grad school and I felt miserable. Sometimes I feel like why am I doing this? And I just want to give up but seeing your message about waking up for the future made me open a new perspective. Thank you:)
The basis of Buddhism is that all life is suffering, and that the only escape is to find nirvana, so your acceptance of acknowledging that life never gets better is a true statement
you're sooo amazing your philosophical tantrums resonate with me and you speak the utmost truth about life. amazing. I relate to you so much. wish we could be friends in real life. keep up the great videos
" It's about finding peace and happiness no matter where you are at that moment" --. We humans get so frustrated at the little things in life that we forget about what we do have. Thank you for the reminder :) :)
This happened to me on the TEAS (nursing school entrance exam). I needed an 85% or better to comfortably make it to nursing school, basically... However I ended up with an 84.7%... 0.3% away?! So now I wait anxiously for any school (especially my dream school) to consider me. I worked SO hard throughout all of my prereq's and studied so much for this exam... And to come up short by that much... UGH, man. I feel that disappointment so hard.
The previous comments saying that you spend your time frivolously are ridiculous! The reason you have one of the best medical student channels is because it is REAL. Awesome comment, agree :)
when america said: "How am i gonna be a surgeon" when she didnt get an A. AMERICA IF YOU'RE READING THIS. YOU'RE A SURGEON NOW. IM CRYINGGGGGGGG
Paused the video to write this:
America, you are so strong.
The reason I respect you and this channel so much is that you are so real and transparent. Most med bloggers never share this side of med school that are grades . Love you. Another A on the way soon.❤️
Girl I can not explain the amount of times I had those Bs or B+s that were less than a 0.02 point away from an A. PAINFUL.
Alia Elnaji I had an 89.9 in Ochem I and it was B+... literally the worst feeling!
I had an English professor who was out to get me for whatever reason and gave me a 99/100 on an essay. I was so fucking mad.
3 years later you are a SURGEON now.
I'm a pre-med student right now and watch your videos whenever I'm feeling discouraged about school. Your videos help me stay motivated when I get discouraged so thank you!
I cried with you because I know what it's like to just see everything crumble and be able to do nothing about it.
Kamal Aziz me too, may the power be with you🤘
thanks mate💕 sending love and luck to you!
When you revisit this in 2021 & America is rockin' it as a surgeon. Sis, you did it!

How are you know?
I honestly look forward to your vlogs every Saturday!

Your vlogs/videos are the highlight of my week. Med school is intimidating in a lot of ways but you're such a huge inspiration

This was the video I needed to watch right now! I am studying for a subject I find so hard to understand, but this motivates me to keep on going and do the best I can!
I literally cried when u did. So much respect for the time and effort you put into your work. God bless
Americaaaa you are so intelligent and gorgeous and genuine, you're my favorite med school vlogger

I love your positivity. I think a way to say what you meant is that it's as easy to find happiness now as it will be as you reach your goals?
You made me cry!!! You have no idea how much I needed this motivation and how much this helped me!
Every single word you say is just so meaningful to me, i hope you know the good you do to people!
Thankyou so much, simply adore you! 😘💕
I love your videos. Thank you for being so open and for always keeping it real. We appreciate you!
This is my favorite video of yours so far. I agree with your concept of being happy 😃 I think you really inspired me to be keep working towards my dream and enjoy the process even disappointments. Thank you America I think you’ll be an amazing surgeon because you are amazing and beautiful human being.
The professor must be really petty if he's really going to give you a B because you are 0.21 points short of an A.
I cried with you, I needed to see this video so such America. Thank you ❤ just look how far you've come, you're inspirational.
I seriously love you so much America! I can see you are growing. It was hard seeing you get emotional, but I am so glad you realized that the B is perfectly fine and will not hinder your goals.
Hey, don't let that grade bring you down, you have lots of people that support, including me. Just do your best, we know you can do it!! :)
I LOVE YOU!
Love you, LeAnn!

Anyways, just wanna say thanks for being so honest and positive in your videos! Keep up the good work!
I love your vlogs America, keep being so kind and genuine
I love your videos so much. love your energy and positivity. Even though medical school is difficult, you make it seem so easy with your courage and personality. you definitely give me hope as a pre med student that it's gonna be okay. Thank you so much.
I love your determination America ! Keep hustling you'll get there!
Honestly this is exactly what I needed. Thank you

(PS yes Rockets!! )
I'm a sophomore in high school and you honestly inspire me so much!
Girl that quote you found its the universe telling you you are doing well
I love your realization!!! Gotta be happy no matter when you're in your life
I'm sure you're NOT the only one! Keep pushing! Love your videos!
I genuinely love your vlogs so much!! Keep up the great work America💕💕💪🏻💪🏻

Premed right here and definitely looking forward to med school! You project so much realness. New subbie 😊
I love how real you are in every vlog. I love you
I didn't get in med school for one point in hundred.... So now I have to wait one year to give the exams again ... So yeah it sucks ..
Melina Kyriakou I wish you the best! don't give up, we need you!
Melina Kyriakou this was me last year!!!!! i was one mark away from meeting my entry requirements. i've made it into med school now!! don't give up, i almost did but it's entirely possible to be victorious through all of this! x
Ash X what was your gpa and Mcat? Sorry if this is nosey and you probably won’t answer but I’m just wondering 😬

This is the realest med school channel and it’s refreshing. I’m not even a med student lol I’m an OT student 😆
I love your videos, America! I look up to you so much; you're strong, smart, and I have a ton of respect for you.
I can't even tell you how relatable that was. It's happened to me SO MANY TIMES when i was literally
You are an amazing young lady. Many blessings to you. I hope you achieve your desire of being a doctor. We need more good doctors.

Don't cry because of notes! you can be the greatest in the medical field! just believe it, believe in yourself!!! Ignore the pain cause the pain will never stop.
those 'enlightening' moments always seem to happen at the perfect time. y'know right when you need them.
OH MY GOSH
You are the best youtuber with the best personality!
This made me feel so much better right now after a crappy exam!
Thank you:)
The basis of Buddhism is that all life is suffering, and that the only escape is to find nirvana, so your acceptance of acknowledging that life never gets better is a true statement
you are so real and I love it!!
I look forward for your vlogs on the weekend!!!
I really needed this motivation, thank you hun!
Did you talk to your professor? Maybe they can give you a point if you explain your case!
Professors generally aren't allowed to do that. It sucks and I've tried too but their hands are truly tied...
you're sooo amazing your philosophical tantrums resonate with me and you speak the utmost truth about life. amazing. I relate to you so much. wish we could be friends in real life. keep up the great videos
" It's about finding peace and happiness no matter where you are at that moment" --. We humans get so frustrated at the little things in life that we forget about what we do have. Thank you for the reminder :) :)
Amen to that, girl!! Love your spirit x
Loved the talk 👌🏻
This happened to me on the TEAS (nursing school entrance exam). I needed an 85% or better to comfortably make it to nursing school, basically... However I ended up with an 84.7%... 0.3% away?! So now I wait anxiously for any school (especially my dream school) to consider me. I worked SO hard throughout all of my prereq's and studied so much for this exam... And to come up short by that much... UGH, man. I feel that disappointment so hard.
Thanks for keeping it real America 💖
God i love your vlogs ! keep up the good work and good luck with everything 😘
I love your vides! And yes I understood what you were talking about at the end of the video!!
Hi America thanks a lot for this video... it helps me so deep inside that can imagine!!! Bless weekend for us
