You can get salvaged freighter modules by simply pirate raiding other freighters lol they carry them in the cargo pods. you can even save scum it by landing at a space station, saving, loading your save and flying back out. It will spawn a fresh set of freighters to raid every time. Waaaaaay faster too.
Correct. And let me add that if you do this after already reaching the highest standing with the local species (Gek/Korvax/Vy'keen), then attacking the freighters will not hurt your standing... GGF
You *can* get salvaged freighter upgrades as well from other sources. You have it as what is classified as a common reward for freighter expeditions but these are countered by the long mission times, Rare has it in crashed freighter cargo boxes, from Nexus and station mission boards (Higher chance with higher standing with the station faction), Pirate mission boards, and in freighter cargo pods if you plan to go for a more pirate playthrough, though this is the rarest methiod.
It's amazing how I always think I've mentioned everything, and good people like yourself come and remind me of the other ways to get the stuff. Highly appreciated (not being cynical, really). I will add this information to the pinned comment. Thank you! GGF
I've been doing frigate expeditions for months(literally launched them every day) and never got upgrades for freighter, not even once. I got salvaged frigate modules and cargo bulkheads, but not freighter upgrades.
I know the problem with the weapon of Neutron Canon and Plasma Launcher, and both can not be used. Instead use Geology Canon. As soon as it touches anything it explodes like a nuke. Problem with using it in some situations is it would make craters in planets and that would make some mad. But in derelicts that’s no issue. I use Geo Canon to take out walkers in 10 seconds. I’m surprised most talk about Plasma Launcher over Geo Canon as not only does the Geo Canon activate instantly on any surface touch, but it has better blast radius and damage. I can’t tell you how many sentinels I scraped with it. And if anyone is wondering how I scrap walkers with it I use a Blaze Javelin to stun them and repeatedly nuke it.
As promised in my other reply, I went ahead and tested the use of Geology Cannon on derelict freighters. In short - it's awesome but very dangerous. You need to be much farther from the blast in order to be sure that you are safe. I managed to kill myself 5 times in one derelict freighter! 😳 Nonetheless, the suggestion is more than valid - it is really good. The damage dealt when far away from the target is absolutely nuts, wreaking havoc and removing threats very quickly. So thank you for that, and this information will now go into the pinned comment. GGF
Thanks for the link to the S class upgrades. I only got C ones so far and NO EVEN ONE freighter module... It is one of the most boring element of the game. I can only force myself to do one for several days... so I have more locators than needed. For me, the best ways to get freighter modules are missions on stations and pods from crashed freighters. Still, I get only 10-12 so far, so I have still a lot to find.
No 2 derelicts are the same, so the spoiler claim does not really apply. I run the derelict in very system I visit to Check the Class, If it's S Class, I run it till I get a hyperdrive module, that tells me if it's worth posting location/galaxy online.@@goodguysfree
I've done 4 of these so far and as long as you have thermal shielding and loads of spare batteries there is little to be worried about. I have 2 questions though. 1. Can I use the same system every time as the one I have used so far dives "s" class rewards. 2. How do I locate other systems that give "s" class items. I know of the co-ordinate exchange but haven't a clue how to search it instead of endlessly scrolling through all of the posts.
Actually both questions are answered in the video and in the description... 1. If you do the same system again, the delicious freighter will look the same, and you'll get another S class upgrade at the end. The type of upgrade will change, though. 2. In the description, there's a link to a Google drive document with coordinates for other systems where you will get S class upgrades when you run a derelict freighter... You need to get an Emergency Broadcast Receiver (usually for 5 million units at the scrap dealer's on a space station, or sometimes for free from Iteration: Helios on the Anomaly), then activate it, and start your Pulse engine, until you find it. GGF
Check your difficulty settings. If you have "On-foot combat" set to None or "Space combat" set to None, you will see this behavior - you could find derelicts with the same horrific nests, but when you blast them, nothing hatches. GGF
