SX-R 1500 Broke Down

- Trying to figure out an issue we were having on the Kawasaki SXR 1500. It had a rough idle. Inconsistent power loss where it would run fairly normal then little to no power. The ski felt as if it had something in the pump due to a slightly increased vibration and loss of power. First thing we checked was the pump but no obstructions and continuous rough idle. Next ride out(this ride) the ski felt as if was getting better but still had intermittent issue. Mid ride we swap spark plugs and find out what happens next! Thanks for watching!
Spark plugs: 60% of the time they work every time
Its amazing how plugs go so quickly in skis. New set of plugs are like Viagra to these things. Got a lot more Pep now!
@@john.french alot more pep 😂 its scary going full speed again. SX-R has New meaning to being called 🚀 rocket lol
Last year when my RXTX was bogging down and topping out at like 58 it was the plugs. Center plug looked FOUL.
@@badm0t0rf1ng3r dang the weird part was the plugs looked fine but they ohm’d out being out of spec. Crazy how much plugs can change how it runs. SX-R is back to 🚀speed.
Good video, spark plugs seem to wear down fast on all jetskis
@@dennissorokin3872 appreciate it! Was really surprised! They didn’t look bad but testing them with meter and ohming them out a few were bad 😳 as always thanks for watching 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
@dennissorokin3872 My 2017 still has original plugs, fuel pump and filter. Plugs are not an issue often, I own a not super busy race shop but I do a good amount of work; I have not changed a bad plug on a machine in ages with the exception of Polaris snowmobiles, they should come with 20 packs. This is not a usual issue with most other machines.
@@Floatsorrolls1 Did you ever have them out before? If so did you ever drop one of them?
I have a moto when it come to spark plugs. Drop it once, drop it twice... The second time you drop it is in a garbage can. Noting wrecks a spark plug faster then a sharp impact.
@ Never had them out. Thats makes sense though. I mean we do use the skis alot so i guess it was probably due for a tune up. Just glad it wasn’t the $600 fuel pump lol
@@Floatsorrolls1 I agree on being glad it was not the fuel pump, also you can get better fuel pumps out there that slip in for way less money, the one out of the Kawasaki Mule. Jet Ski Jim made a video about another alternative.
I think I will at least look at my fuel filter this year. I put about a tank of gas through my machine about 4 times a week in the summer. Strange that it was plugs as they do not often go bad but glad it was a cheap fix.
