I found this channel a year ago, when I watched how to tie the FG knot. I've learned a lot from you guys and it's helped put some big bull Red's on my line. I appreciate you both and always look forward to the next helpful video.
I use this knot for attaching my tippet to my leader and I use a half knot for my flys it’s has never let me down and if “it” has its has been my mistake as the angler for being lazy cheers for help mate I used to do a half blood knot and use my as the eye of the hook if you will then I used to just thread my tippet through then lock off the original knot then repeat this looks a lot faster. 🎣
notice one line is on top of the other. the one on top must wrap over the top and the one on the bottom must wrap the opposite direction. the way they are laying show how they must continue when warping. you wind up with one tag going up and the other going down. be sure the tags don't pull out of the loop but tighten pulling the line and leader not the tags.
Interested why you think it matters which way the turns go? Those are 2 independent knots, the direction of the wraps have nothing to do with strength. I've even seen people pull the tags out the same side, which doesn't seem to degrade the knot significantly.
What about using the Blood Knot for tying leader to braid? Grog at Animated Knots said specifically not to use it for this purpose but I don't see the downside, and its symmetrical tag-free ends seem to work in its favor. I find that the extending aft tags on an FG catch on the guides when reeling in, particularly more noticeable with higher-test leaders.
I tested this knot myself against the uni knot and FG in similar line diameters. And my results are a little different then Salt Strong’s (keep in mind, I have learned most of my knots from them and all my personal results are the same except this one.) the FG won hands down. But the blood knot beat the uni every time. Reminder: knots were tested in similar line diameter. With all 3 types of line mono, fluro and braid. And in all configurations. Mono- mono. Mono- fluro. mono to braid fluro to fluro. Fluro to braid etc etc theses results are mine own test. But done very similar to theirs.

Could you use two different colored lines?
And don't skip the middle tightening/straitening.
And you did it using line one might use to catch a fish! Smaller stuff harder to ty.

Can I use the same line to tie together?
Yes. This blood knot is very good for connecting two lines of the same diameter too, so that's a good used case for it.

Can it be tied with braid to mono?
Yes. It is tougher to tie, but it still is a solid knot for braid to mono. Make sure to do more wraps with the braid tag to make sure it doesn't slip.
