I understand what this is, but I also know too many people in their 70s and 80s who regret not planning ahead because they didn't thing they would live that long and now life is very tough for them. My partner and I are thinking ahead so that we don't have to get into those tough situations when we can't do anything to improve or fix anything.

( while some of them bastards make millions ) been. working almost 50 years.in the hot southwestern US.sun . yeah it can get cold too I ain't looking back . no fear

On the flip side. At age 65 with no savings, likely the minimal SSI benefit, and only 15.5K TH-cam subs to foot the bill when the inevitable emergency arises. Father time is undefeated. I guess we'll see how Scottie handles it. Hopefully being irresponsible for an entire lifetime works out for him. I know I wouldn't attempt it.

The people that spend a lot of time alone are the most talkative people when they have an audience. IE truck drivers at a restaurant, Scotty at a coffee shop, A preacher with a parsonage. It goes on and on.

my rent is really great for now. but im living in los angeles on the coast, so my rent could go at any time, especially after my old landlord passes away and his kid takes over. i’m planning on going nomad when i turn 67 and retire in 4.5 years. slowly getting rid of everything. might maintain a small storage unit for some things. who knows. thats the plan anyway. got a road glide and a 1200 sportster-not sure which one ill use, probably both, keep one in storage, trade off. who knows.
Spend less, earn more, and you will be happier. You can quit everything and travel the country on your motorcycle, but you can also just minimise your lifestyle and expenses right where you are. Once you’re living on 20% to 30% of your income you will feel the same freedom. You can change jobs anytime you want, and work as much or as little as you want.
