  • In 2011, an ancient temple in Kerala, the Padmanabhaswamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram, made headlines when vast treasures were discovered in secret vaults under the temple. Gold, silver, gems and jewels on a scale that boggles the mind were stored in them. How did the treasure get there? Just how much wealth is there? And who does it all belong to now? This is the story of the richest temple in the world.

    Greetings from Quebec, Canada! I wanted to share my heartfelt admiration for the enchanting country of India. During my visit, I was mesmerized by the diverse and breathtaking landscapes, the rich and flavorful cuisine, the vibrant culture, and above all, the real treasure isn't the magnificient Padmanabhaswany temple but the sincere kindness displayed by the people. My time in India left an everlasting impression on me, and I feel truly grateful for the wonderful experiences I had 🙏. I miss India so much, especially Kerala 😉.

    I lived my whole life in Trivandrum,it may not be as developed as Kochi but this royal city and its treasures are hidden in plain sight.This temple is in the heart of the city but if you have an eye for architecture you will see it’s ancient forts and walls which find its way through modern buildings,oddly placed random palaces and ancient houses ,community of multiple generations Tamil Brahmin priests and the whispers of it’s treasures and myths.Unlike Mysore kings ,Travancore kings were humble ,they never lead a lavish lifestyle or spent money on majestic palaces .India had many rich kingdoms but got looted by invaders but Travancore got lucky with their treasures.

      Don’t you think it wrong to use the word “Muslim” ? As a Muslim in India I admire these places and respect them . Muslim refers to the followers of Islam . I am surrounded by many Hindus here in south and we are like a family. You using “those Muslims “ feels disrespectful towards us. Sure , the people who looted OUR India were Muslims but that doesn’t mean that you classify it in such a way .
      I am sorry , I didn’t want to offend anyone , just trying to express my feeling .

      Unlike the Portuguese, Dutch and the French, the British never messed up with religion. They were very shrewd to not understand the ramifications of that. Thrippadi Daanam was a political masterstroke by King Marthana Varma. By doing so he ensured that the gargantuan wealth is safely secure in the vaults under the sanctum Sanctorum of the temple. Access to the temple was only to the Hindus anyways. He was quite powerful on the military front too. In fact the only European Navy to be defeated is the Dutch Navy by Travancore ( The Battle of Colachel) Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan could only defeat the princely state of Cochin but not Travancore. The British was not aware of the magnitude of the wealth present in the Temple. Such was the secrecy that was maintained. The wealth belongs to the Lord. The status quo should not be altered.

    • @sreejithsiva7885
      @sreejithsiva7885 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Travancore was a princilly state , British didn't had a complete control on this kingdom, it was ruled independently by the Maharaja of Travancore. Hence British couldn't mess up over here.

    • @iambackwithabang
      @iambackwithabang ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sreejithsiva7885or the British never knew what was inside probably....they might have thought looking at the humble Travancore King's who were never into flashy lifestyle unlike other Kingdoms in India and thought there is nothing much to loot other than the basic taxation on pepper etc...the British behaved very differently with the Kerala kingdoms...they were a bit harsher on northern Kerala kingdoms...but we're pretty much happier with south Kerala kingdoms ( there were many kingdoms inside current Kerala which were all made into one to form current state of Kerala). I am sure the British saw nothing worth stealing in Kerala other than spices....😂😂😂😂 Had they ever knows 😂😂😂😂😂 kudos to the people of erstwhile Travancore who took the secret to their death bed and never ousted the royal secret. Else everything would have been sitting on the British royal crown jewels or in the British museum now 😂

      @@iambackwithabang can't say that they didn't loot anything from Kerala, even today we have many Kerala artifacts in the British museum including the ivory throne of victoria and etc 🥴🥴🤣🤣... I think British never got a chance to loot, cuz this land was already looted by the Portuguese and Dutch , could be that was the reason why the native kings started to hide their treasures , not sure yet ... 🙃🙃

    Marthanda Varma expanded his kingdom through bloody wars and conquests.
    Before Marthanda Varma, when an invading army conquers a kingdom, that kingdom becomes the vassal state for the conqueror king.
    But Marthanda Varma during his conquests killed the Royal Family of the kingdoms he captured and looted all their wealth and treasures. Because of this, the commoners in these conquered lands did not accept him as a legitimate ruler and was considered a tyrant.
    For their approval, Marthanda Varma started donating all his wealth to the temple and justified his conquests as a will of God.
    Politics!

    Even the same is true for Jagannatha temple, serpent gods remain guard the treasury vaults of lord Jagannath, under whose sole suzerainty lies Odisha.
    Lord Jagannath is the Supreme diety of Odisha for aeons and our Odia culture is pure Vaishnavaite, with some lord Shiva and Devi temples.
    We had trade relationships with South-east Asian countries, Persia and Ming China too. These wealth gets accumulated in the Jagannath temple, in the vaults which are used to adorn lord Jagannath everyday( only 2 are open, rest are closed due to mysterious deaths of trespassers).

    When it comes to precious metals this temple might have the most assets. But the catholic church is the biggest landowner. Most if their assets is in real estate and their income is from rent and lease.
    The vatican has acquired land all over the world as a strategically move. Even in India they own significant land.

      The temple houses an 18 foot long statue of the main deity, Lord Padmanabhaswamy. I say 18 feet “long” instead of tall because the statue is supine/laying down. The necklace is to drape over statue as a garland.

    While true, it is this kind of information that attracted foreigners, for thousands of years, to invade India. In many ways they are today, trying a regime change in India and getting rid of Sanathana Dharma. The mention of wealth will accelerate events.
    This video will also do the same. They have not changed.
