To me, this band is like the nature. Behind the mythic vocals and soul-waking bass, there's a clump of chaotic sounds/noises that are masterfully attuned. Just like the rain, earth quakes, thunder storms - sounds of the nature that are chaotic but harmonious. My poor attempt to put into words.

How Jonsí manages to bow a guitar still amazes me...Sigur Rós is awesome, even though it's all in Icelandic and I can't understand a single word they are saying.
+Emmy Powell It's not even normal Icelandic, or so I have heard. There's Hopelandic in it and some stuff he just made up. Hoppípolla for example should be Hoppa í Polla, but he kind of slurs words together...

I'm not going to lie, I had a tear rolling down my cheek by the end of Saeglopur. It's one of my favorites, but for some reason that performance got me!
I was there. Southside Festival in Germany. Portishead played right before. Oh, what a special night it was.
the last song is one of the best songs ever written. I've seen them in concert twice, once in Chicago in 2005 and once in St. Louis in 2013. I even met Jonsi briefly outside his studio in Mossfellsbaer in 2005. His boyfriend took a picture of us!

Remember seing them before the album Kveikur went out.. heard Hrfatinna, usually i don't get into song i don't know in a concert.. but this track, jeez it was intense.

Yes, it's called pickup scream. The guitar pickup is pretty much like a microphone, so you just have to set in the right way and sing into it.
