Bio Oil has worked really well for me, but a dermatologist once told me that it's the act of rubbing your skin which actually gets rid of the stretch mark or scarring/pigmentation. She said Bio Oil is good as it acts as an emollient so that you're able to rub your skin.
Oh so is that's why it won't work for me... I just let it sit in and don't rub it hehe

With Bio oil you really have to be consistent, I have seen improvements with my childhood scars on my legs.

The dermatologist said the #1 thing to prevent stretch while pregnant is lots of water. I took that to heart when I was pregnant because I already had a ton from when I was younger. I'm happy to say it worked. I didn't get any. My sister was the opposite, she didn't have any before pregnancy but when she was pregnant she got some in her belly and I know she would say the doc told her she was always dehydrated
I drank 2L minimum a day and got 2 tiny feint white lines on one breast when pregnant. My mother drank in moderation, drank coffee and smoked with me, hey! It was the 70s lol and she didn't get stretch marks.
She said she just had warm baths and baby oil. Good genes and oils massaged in helped us I think.
I started dry brushing and using bio oil when I was 1 month postpartum. I use it right after I shower and my stretch marks are definitely lighter! I'm on my second bottle and I love the results so far

@@TassiaGovender it is better to use active ingredients formulated to put on your face for scarring and marks babe! AHA's and retinol work great. However, do not use them together as they could cause chemical burns!

What should we use
I had stretch marks in my thighs from constantly gaining and loosing weight. My aunt told me to soak them in baby oil while I was wet out of the shower and air dry for as long as I could. She did it during her pregnancy. They faded a lot for both of us. This is something to do religiously, though. It needs consistency to work.

This helped lessen the appearance of my self harm scars as well as stretch marks. It doesn’t erase everything but it definitely helped me boost my confidence. It took about a year of using Bio Oil everyday to fade the scars and marks to get to the point where I was comfortable with them. However I must say: Bio Oil DOESN’T ELIMINATE STRETCH MARKS. It just makes them less noticeable. Also, I’m sending peace and love to anyone who is battling mental illness. I’ve been there and it gets better

I got a lot during puberty (my butt lol) but none during pregnancy. I used the palmers lotion with bio oil on top.

@@alwaysalexisxo8259 I am not sure if the Palmer’s lotion and bio oil prevented me from getting stretch marks when I was pregnant but I used them and did not get any new stretch marks. The old ones I have from puberty is still there.
I remember trying to use bio oil in college to help my stretch marks from puberty and it did not help.

I have scars from surgeries and both a plastic surgeon and a dermatologist told me to use silicone scar sheets for a year or so. For “bendy” areas, they said use the roll-on silicone gel. Silicone is safe, they said, and there are a bunch of studies confirming that it works in many situations.
Have you noticed a difference with silicone sheets? My doctor also recommended these to me
Sam L Absolutely. I’m 2.5 months out from one major surgery and already see the pink getting lighter and the scars getting more flat!
Sam L definitely use them! I work in healthcare working predominantly with people after hand and wrist surgery and we recommend silicone to everyone. It has so much evidence supporting its effectiveness, and very safe to use also. Everyone who I give it to in my clinic comes back and has noticeably improved scars! :)

The best oil for stretch marks and scars is Uriage Cica-Oil. It’s been tested as safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding (no retinol) and there are no allergens or synthetic ingredients/fragrance. So clean and it works! Great price too and better packaging

Yes I’m pretty sure Dr Dray answered a QnA once saying centella asictaica (cica) is one of the only ingredients with some evidence supporting its effectiveness for treatment of stretch marks!
Bio-oil always makes me break out... I like argon oil.

Susan took all the claims of the product and basically nullified them one by one. A true queen. Period.
I got stretch marks in 6 grade when I grew quickly and then stopped growing. So I used it in high-school to get rid of the ones around my hips and thighs. Definitely went from being immediately visually noticeable to my trying to find them in good lighting. I could feel it a little but I had to try and find them whereas before they were Definitely popping. I love this stuff, right now the Palmers tummy butter and massage lotion for stretch marks is really helping in avoiding them on my belly.
When I was 11-12 I developed early and I had terrible stretch marks they were dark purple and red I used this product and palmers stretch mark cream and they are soooo faded now only 2 years later
I have many small dark spots/scars on my arms and legs from over-scratching contact dermatitis/eczema. and bio oil has helped me a lot with fading those dark scars! they healed completely and my skin color is back to normal.
how long did it take?
z it depends, I can see small improvements on some of my scars in just one week. For them to disappear completely would probably take 2-4 weeks (in my case), with 2x usage per day
I've tried using it during pregnancy to prevent stretchmarks, and I still got stretchmarks 😂 and then I tried using it post-partum, nothing happened, my stretchmarks are pretty much there 😂 then I tried using it to treat my acne-scars on my face and it broke me out 🤣 I bought this on 2017 because it was so popular and I have little knowledge about skincare 🙈 so glad now that I have found Susan Yara and Mixed Makeup!
I would definitely like recommendations in a more affordable price range. There are many people who get stretch marks in various parts of their body thus needing more product. Has anyone tried Strivectin? I wish she wouldve mentioned cocoa butter but then again that's probably just a moisturizing product

If I ever get my hands on this I would use it in my whole body and my face! Though I just hope mom would let me buy one. She doesn't want me to use anything like these because I'm still only 16 and that I'll have to wait until I'm 18 but I can't wait! My stretch marks, scars, dark spots, and pimples lowers my confidence everyday that I don't even want to look at my self in the mirror! I am so jealous of my friends who have their moms allow them to use any products.

@@lemi8928 That’s sad. She sounds like she doesn’t care at all. Try to talk to your friends maybe they can help. Idk what your allowance is but why don’t you try to get some drugstore products ? You just need a Vitamin C, Retinol, Sunscreen and a benzoyl peroxide wash at least those helped me.

Also, I've been talking with my friends about it, like which products would suit my skin cuz I don't want my pimples to worsen. Guess I should wait till I'm 18 then, 2 year more to go! Wohoo😑

It worked for me. After I gained 97 lbs. from a twin pregnancy (the weight gain was all belly, too), and lost the same amount of weight rapidly after giving birth, I did not have a single stretch mark. I applied Bio-Oil religiously throughout my pregnancy and there was no way that I should have ended up with zero stretch mark, not after gaining and losing so much weight in a short period. If it were a small amount of weight, I would have credited genetic, but with 97 lbs.? Definitely the oil.
I’m so glad you’re doing this video. Weirdly enough my dr and dermatologist both recommended this to me to help heal my MRSA scars from this summer (the scars are horrible). I used it at night but it was heavy and sticky and I noticed no difference so I switched back to my retional cream and moisturizer. I’ll definitely use your recommendations.
Bio oil has been in South Africa for a looooong time, I have used it after roaccutane , i used this and then vitamin E cream, does wonders

I've been using it for a few years now. I love the smell (I'm not a fan of fragrance but this one isn't that strong) and how soft my skin feels after applying it. From my experience it works pretty good as long as you're constant but not when the stretch marks are old and get really dark. The ones on my breast disappeared but the ones on my hips seemed to be too much work for bio-oil lol. This week I'll start using BABE on my hips we'll see how it goes.

For the past two months I have been diligently using the equate skincare oil. It has and is continuing to make my stretch marks less visible.
I've had stretch marks since I was 10 years old! And they are not just 2 line,it's TONS of lines on my thighs,my knees and even on my back! I went to a dermatologist and gave me some creams but they didn't work!😫, they are so bad I literally feel like I don't even want to look at them, I searched online if anyone got marks when they are really young but I couldn't find any,so I don't what's the safe solution for them or even how to reduce their appearance,if anyone has experience or a solution plz share it
Hello, I've had stretch marks since I was 10-11 years too. I have a lot of them. Maybe with time they will fade, but you have to learn to love your body as it is right know. Love your body, love your skin, exercise, moisturize and be the best version of yourself.
I've used bio oil for like 2 months now and i've seen improvement. I had tons of stretch marks and i were very insecure about them. But now they're so much more invisible. Since i've only used it for two months they're ofc not gone yet. I really recommend bio oil. But it does work different for others, and this was just my experience. But if you want them gone, you should definitely try it out!

I have been debating for years buying bio oil, but I can NEVER Justify the price. Most of the ingredients that they use are so cheap yet they charge so much for something so simple. But because everyone always has such amazing things to say it’s still makes me wanna buy it. Wondering if there’s actually a way that I could just make my own versioning this.
Just buy vitamin e pills. Snip off the top and massage in. It's more sticky than bio oil.

I'm glad to see some more body skincare recommendations! I feel like I don't really know where to start with it. I do sometimes use my DE retinol on my stretch marks as well (not that it was too harsh for my face though), but now I'll try out the chemical exfoliants as well. Thanks!
I love bio oil been using it for about 3 years as a moisturizer, but it hasn't even slightly helped my scars.
Did nothing for me either.
I bought it because nurses recomended it to fade the surgery mark. Well i am not a kind of person that religiously using it, so it still have a lot in the bottle.
I have a combination skin, that sometimes my skin feel dry. So one afternoon, i apply bio oil on my face. Well i feel my skin much better, and hydrated, so that particular afternoon I am not applying moisturizer.
And I have feeling that the fragrance is calming.
For me, using on face may be, but not everyday only when I feel my skin super dry.
After watching ur video, so it not good to be use during day time.
So i might be repeat to purchase because of the calming effect but not using on my face, but other part of body.

I do hate the strong smell. They should have come with a fragrance free option for pregnant women who (many of them) can't stand any smells :)

I had a minor scar from stitches above my eyebrow from around age 8. When I was in my late teens, I poked a hole in Vitamin E pills, a few applications of that once in a while over a month or two and the scar was gone. If all you have is something less severe to work on, could try that. 🤷♀️

Vitamin E or tocopherol as it is also called is mainly in almost all compounds as a preservative... so the product does not go rancid in a heartbeat.

I tried bio oil for 30 days barely lasted that! I compared the ingredients to the equate compare to bio oil. Its about 90% the same! Bio pills $27 for a tiny amount and the equate

My last pregnancy I used bio-oil and decided not to use it for this current one for these reasons. Now I'm using Belli Elasticity Oil you recommended in one of your previous videos. Would you still recommend that to minimize severity of stretch marks (bc I know if it's genetic, it's genetic)?
Do you need to work up to stronger strength retinol on the body like you do with your face? Should you start at a lower strength and build tolerance first on your body as well?

I have new purple stretch marks after I gained weight. I use an entire bottle of bio oil... it did NOTHING. Vitamin E oil help a little bit, but I still have them. Not sur what product will work best for stretch marks. Any suggestion?

Usually strech markes start blackich red then turn into white engravings in body (for me at least 6years after 1st pregnancy)
It’s more prevention and healing. If they’re old you’re probably going to want to do something like laser or microneedling if you want a proper before and after effect

I'm a dude, does that affect what skin care I should be using? I always seen skin care marketed towards either men or woman , and I just don't get it.
As far as I know, it really doesn't matter. Most of the skincare is targeted to women because we are the ones who buy most of the skincare. Some men don't want to buy 'girly' skincare (as a way to say it) so brands make specific products to target to men. I've never read the ingredients list of one of these products, but I doubt they change more than the fragrance and the packaging. Just use what you think might suit your skin, regardless if it's for women or men.
