I am Christian and have dreamed of visiting Israel for 30 years. Finally visiting in May with my husband and two children. We have all enjoyed your insightful videos and ordered your tour books. Thank you for explaining how different groups approach these complex issue. It's amazing that you can make these videos about controversial issues and while you express your own opinion you still seem neutral.
I must admit: it is a great experience listening an unproganadistic lecture about Jesus. Especially when someone can intrerpret in such a good manner as Oren.
Here's my interpretation: First there was Judaism and then there were cults, or sects as we call them in Dutch. And not only Christians (and later) Muslims, but also Chabad can be classified as being a cult. What defines a cult? They have one single dogmatic leader, the followers blindly believe in the teachings of the leader and the followers are urged to spread the word. For Christians that was Paul, for Muslims it was Mohammad and Chabad has the 'Alter Rebbe'.
@@RudydeGroot Except Christians do not believe blindly and their ultimate leader is not Paul, but Jesus Himself. (Sure there are some religious Christians who blindly believe in the Church or someone's else teachings instead testing them with Jesus words, but I'm talking about sane Christians).
@@RudydeGroot Your question shows that you don‘t understand the essence of the faith. Jesus (Jèshu if you wish) never teached us to practice Judaism but to love the God with all the heart and another human as self. This is what we do. Moreover, Jesus Himsel was constantly criticized and persecuted by religious Jews (Oren mentions them in the video) who blamed Him for not following the Shabat, serving the devil, blaspheming etc, finally crucified. When the only thing He actually did was loving God the Father, the people and talking the Truth. Same happened to His disciples - their comunity was called sect/cult, they were criticized and persecuted by the same religious Jews. Funny or not, same happens today...
Oren, my friend, your presentation like all others is uniquely informative and insightful!! With folks like you, it is no wonder that the Jewish people continue to shine in all their endeavors and to kick butt, all over the world. I’m a Roman Catholic. I’m intrigued by your videos and look forward to watching them all in the next few weeks. My friend is Israeli, an IDF veteran. I have had the honor of being invited to his Seder twice. I was moved by the experience since the Mass has its roots in the Seder. Thank you for making these videos and being a voice for the truth in the Holy Land. I believe God is speaking through you.
Fun fact - The Seder also has its roots in the Mass! The Bible tells Jews to eat a meal of lamb & unleaven bread at Passover, but the Passover Haggadah that recalls the story of the Exodus wasn't part of Passover until the 2nd century AD. If was influenced by the way Christians would tell the story of Jesus at their meals to keep his memory alive & teach the young.

Jesus and the disciples were all Jews, facts are facts my friend and your video does those facts justice. I'm an Orthodox Christian and visiting Israel is our dream trip and we just LOVE your channel.
@jaleel appleseed We were called “Jews”, collectively, by 600 BCE. The second Temple kingdom was called “Medinat Yehud”, the Jewish State. The First Temple Kingdom of united Israel was led by the House of David, the Tribe of Judah. Jacob blessed Judah to be King. Rome defeated Judea, in the First Century.
@jaleel appleseed There’s nothing fictional about the existence of the Second Temple Judea and Jerusalem, which Cyrus the Great is famous for freeing the Jews to rebuild. The coins from that period are well-documented, and actually include the word “Yehud”. The Achaemenid Yehud coins are followed by the Ptolemaic Yehud coins…over 2400 years ago. I get it. Your fiction is that David was a Muslim, Right? 😂🥱
Thank you. Since childhood I have known Jesus was Jewish. Over my lifetime I have grown a bit in that knowledge and learned lots. I may never know about everything that is in that subject but I hope to continue learning. This episode is great! You affirmed a lot I have learned, taught me some things I didn't know and put some things together I hadn't considered before. It is always a joy to watch travelingisrael episodes.
Christian here with degree in Bible and Theological studies, I concur to the information you provided here. Thank U. hopefully when God allow me to visit Israel again, we can have a cup of coffee together, my treat.
As a learned Christian yourself could you explain to me where Jesus was wrong in anything He said in the application of the tenet that He didn't come to abolish Jewish law but to fulfil it?
@Bettina MN Take care Bettina in what you say. It is written - Judge not lest you be judged yourself. It is a fearful thing to fall under the judgement of The Almighty. There is only one judge and salvation belongs to Him alone.
You learned a lot of propaganda. Jesus wasn't jewish, he was Aramean and lived in Galilee not in Judea. He was from the tribe of Judah, the Judahites were Israelites the Israelites were Aramean Deuteronomy 26:5 Genesis 25:20 The Galileans spoke Aramaic. Stop spreading zionist supremacist propaganda. If you possess a book claiming it's a Bible that says otherwise, there's a 100% chance it was published by a zionist publisher that has no business editing, rewriting, and publishing false propaganda claiming it to be the Bible
Thanks for this. Today there are many Christian denominations that refuse to look at Christianity's Jewish roots and without that they miss Christianity today. Your videos are always amazing!
One of my BIGGEST wishes. To travel the land of Israel for at least months !!!!! God, hear my heart's prayer. THANK YOU FOR THIS UPLOAD AND INFORMATION. God Bless. xoxoxoxo
Plan two tours, an eight-day EXHAUSTING bus tour just to get the grand overview, and then (as I hope for myself eventually) a second tour aimed at the museums at a more sane pace. Since museums each need four hours at minimum, a bus tour will leave the academic person feeling exceedingly rushed and thus they avoid the museums. The same for active dig sites, minimum of four hours each. For first timers, skip the Dead Sea and the Galilee boat ride. These are so-so experiences when you have more time to spare. Try to spend some nights in a rural setting away from the dense cities. Oh, and for meals, enjoy the falafel and especially the shawarma!
Great content! I wish we could all just calm down enough to have a good conversation. What harm can come from talking to one another?! I wish people could read what is written in the New Testament book of Romans, chapter 11. There's a good word for all of us here! Thanks for being open about not trying to convert anyone . . . I agree. Let us all study God's Word to discover for ourselves what we believe. God bless and keep you, (Numbers 6:24-26)
Thank you for this! Trying to understand Jesus is not possible without trying to understand his time and his roots. I can't wait to come to Israel and perehaps you l could be my guide. At least for a day...toda raba
After coming across your content I’ve been binge watching all your videos and I’m so intrigued and glad you made these. What a wonderful insight to have for myself as a western Christian. I have always wanted to connect the Old Testament and ancient Israel with the Christianity we have today but never could find resources or content like yours that is so simply the facts and eloquently explained. Thank you 🙏
I agree he has great insight in this topic. I will say, I too struggled to find the true connections of our faith with the old Testament but some 15 years ago I found that connection through the very obscure branch of Christianity called Messianic Christianity. It basically sheds itself of the pagan practices the Catholic/Pentecostal churches do and connects itself to the Torah and to Grace as the first century church once did before antisemitism crept into our faith. If you are a truth seeker I would encourage you to research this some more. Jim Staley from Passion for Truth Ministries is a great resource on this topic.
I love this video man. Me and my friends started a group called Torah Time and we're doing everything we can to see the continuum of the Old Testament and New. It's been incredible and I highly highly encourage people, especially Christians, to not neglect the Old Testament.
I highly recomand R. Tovia Singer,s comentaries. It is a bit chalenging for a christian but I personaly feel more confident and close to God now after learning so much about what Jesus actually practiced instead of what was said in his name. And I started learning Torah just because I wanted to know Jesus better and the mentality of the people God choosed to let him be born..Realy, I can say now, Jesus brought me to The Father..and Rav. Tovia is such a respectfull and loving person. Try it.
I'd love for you to make more videos about this topic. My background is in both Catholicism and Protestant Christianity, however I'm currently exploring Judaism with a beautiful pluralistic congregation in Sydney, Australia which offers Reform and Masorti services. I love how you say that both groups would benefit from understanding each other better

It is fantastic that someone is talking about this topic. At the risk of sounding arrogant, I understand it, fully. I don't know if I will be making it to Israel soon but I would love to and would love to discuss the topic with you or anyone (even if I am not in Israel). Excellent video.
Amen, Oren!! That ties up some gaps in my history knowledge. I could spend days "picking your brain". lol! I love your ability to see the world from every perspective. I really appreciate these vids! Israel is a bucket list item for me but I need about a month to do everything I want to do...
Very informative and unbiased. As a person fitting the descriptions of the peoples discussed, I enjoyed listening to your talk. Also, props to your hand gestures!
Oren, excellent video. You remind me of our Jewish tour guide in Israel 2019. He gave us historical info from the Jewish point of view and Christianity as well. He was well versed in the Jewish Bible and Christian Bible. His knowledge about Jesus’ life and teachings was outstanding. Great video Oren!
Thank you Oren for talking about this. I look forward to a time when Jews and Christians are able to get along better. I myself have learned so much from both religions. I look forward to visiting eretz yisrael some day.
I dont understand... Jews and Christians have been getting along just fine since at least the 60's in my country. Christians give more money to Israel than the Rothschilds
In what way? If by 'not getting along' you mean Jews being persecuted and vilified by Christianity for thousands of years, and still to this day, then it's really on Christians.
Shalom Oren. Great video as always. I’m Jewish and my spouse is Lutheran. His church, on occasion would ask me to explain the connection between Judaism and Christianity. The best example I remember was, showing the the Passover Haggadah and turning to the third cup of wine where we raise the cup and ask for redemption . I pointed out, if you look at the famous painting of Jesus last supper, it shows him raising the glass. The last Supper is believed to be Passover, and Jesus raises the glass to welcome Elijah . There are many connections of course, which you mentioned in your videos.
Do you follow Judaism or Christianity? I’m Just intrigued. I know Oren isn’t a Christian but he’s the first liberal Jew I have come across which is very welcoming
I would opine that if you are married to a Lutheran than you are in fact not Jewish, except by genetics (which is really more important anyway in the long run).
@@8gomerpyle22 who cares who she's married to? As far as I know, the main reason Jews frown on marriage with non-Jews is because it is unlikely children from such unions will end up following Judaism themselves as adults. Plus, if the dad is Jewish and the mom Gentile, the kids wouldn't be recognized as being "halachically" Jewish, either. However, if the couple are middle-aged or older with no intent nor capability of having children together, then who cares?
That is so cool! My neighbor's Christian church has a passover feast each year. A rabbi from a near by synagogue officiates. It's very authentic. Your explanation just reminded me of that. I think one of the most significant connections is between the Old Testament and the Tanakh. They contain the exact same books. The Torah is the 1st 5 books of the OT, the Law of Moses. The Tenakh is the Law of Moses, prophets and psalms. Jesus Himself refers to the Tanakh in the OT, for example: Luke 24:44: And Jesus said unto them, "These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the *Law of Moses, and in the Prophets, and in the Psalms,* concerning me." Jesus is clearly referring to the Tanakh (which is divided into those 3 sections. After listening to Oren's insightful videos, the last words, "concerning me" became clear. He was referring to all the prophecies concerning himself, but especially those such as in Isaiah, that predicted his crucifixion. Those last words "concerning me" were directed at His Jewish audience, that "had rejected their own." Also prophesied. Oren is right, knowing culture and politics of those times really does deepen your understanding.
I am agnostic with a great love for the story of Jesus. I respect everyone’s belief. The ability to show grace and love is everything. Israel looks beautiful, the colour of those stones With the geraniums are so lovely. Thankyou for your videos.
It's still my dream that rabbinic Judaism and Christianity can come together. It will take a lot of work and a lot of uncomfortable growth for both but I believe it's possible. If not worshipping together, then at least respecting one another, learning each others' traditions, and engaging together in humility.

I went to a Catholic school as a child. When I was eight the teacher brought some matzo and grape juice (no wine, darn-it) and told us that tonight was going to be the start of Passover. She explained the story of Passover from Exodus, and said that Jesus was Jewish and his family would have observed Passover for eight days. So, for the next eight days (well, six school days) we all had a small piece of matzo and a little cup of grape juice every afternoon.

Jews wear Tefflin/Muslim have a giant Tefflin aka the Kaaba stone. Jews and Muslims practice kosher/halaal. Jews and Muslim have 3/5 mandated prayers plus specific prayers for certain days and holidays. Christians cannot be prayed with because they practice trinity aka paganism in the idea of Jesus and holy ghost plus the father, that concept is paganism period. @@andreaWBW @Andrea Baum-Weber Jews do not "reject" Jesus, for rejection implies something bad. For a Jew, the idea that any human can be God or his son, born on earth to a human mother, elevated to a postion of a trinity, is simply beyond their comprehension. You are not Irish
Jesus and the disciples were all Jews, facts are facts my friend and your video does those facts justice. I'm an Orthodox Christian and visiting Israel is our dream trip and we just LOVE your channel.
You’re not a descendant of that Jewish movement. You’re a follower of Paul’s anti-Jesus and antisemitic movement.
@jaleel appleseed
We were called “Jews”, collectively, by 600 BCE. The second Temple kingdom was called “Medinat Yehud”, the Jewish State. The First Temple Kingdom of united Israel was led by the House of David, the Tribe of Judah. Jacob blessed Judah to be King. Rome defeated Judea, in the First Century.
@jaleel appleseed
Another troll…🙄
@jaleel appleseed
There’s nothing fictional about the existence of the Second Temple Judea and Jerusalem, which Cyrus the Great is famous for freeing the Jews to rebuild. The coins from that period are well-documented, and actually include the word “Yehud”. The Achaemenid Yehud coins are followed by the Ptolemaic Yehud coins…over 2400 years ago. I get it. Your fiction is that David was a Muslim, Right? 😂🥱
@jaleel appleseed
Lmao at your channel. Get help. You’re not the first person to become obsessed with antisemitism.
@Bettina MN Answer the question Bettina or refrain from comment. For the record I'm a confirmed member of the Church of England.
@Bettina MN Inside your brain is nothing. However love thy neighbour as thyself..I will try.
I'll come and listen :-)
@Bettina MN Take care Bettina in what you say. It is written - Judge not lest you be judged yourself. It is a fearful thing to fall under the judgement of The Almighty. There is only one judge and salvation belongs to Him alone.
Man I am from India and I am not Christian or Jew but wow just wow your way of explaining was simply marvellous. I learned a lot.
Thank you
You learned a lot of propaganda. Jesus wasn't jewish, he was Aramean and lived in Galilee not in Judea. He was from the tribe of Judah, the Judahites were Israelites the Israelites were Aramean Deuteronomy 26:5 Genesis 25:20
The Galileans spoke Aramaic. Stop spreading zionist supremacist propaganda. If you possess a book claiming it's a Bible that says otherwise, there's a 100% chance it was published by a zionist publisher that has no business editing, rewriting, and publishing false propaganda claiming it to be the Bible

Mine too! Maybe we’ll meet there one day God willing! Amin!

Try it.
You have a good sense of humor my friend 😊 good content as always.

JEWS ARE WAY OFF LOOK AT MY STATEMENT ABOVE...
@@8gomerpyle22 I am "in fact" 100% Ashkenzi Jew.. that's my DNA , not my or yours opinion!
Jesus Himself refers to the Tanakh in the OT, for example: Luke 24:44: And Jesus said unto them, "These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the *Law of Moses, and in the Prophets, and in the Psalms,* concerning me."
Jesus is clearly referring to the Tanakh (which is divided into those 3 sections.
I pray for Israel, and love your videos so much.I really live your honesty and oray everyone excepts your beliefs.❤❤❤❤❤

Except nothing he said is real. Jews can pray in a Muslim Mosque (or vice versa) but NEVER in a church. Why? Christians use idols aka crosses and window murals. Jews have Talmud Muslim have hadith aka oral law. Jews have nothing in common with Christians Islam is our closest religion
