Thank you Alan! Having you start The Locher Room during covid was a definite blessing being able to visit with all our “friends” from Guiding Light and everyone else! And it’s been great getting to know you. ❤ Thanks for celebrating with Grant today!

I remember the last day that Guiding Light aired i cried like a baby all day !!!! This interview with Grant made my day . As I sat here listening to this interview and reminiscing about the individual episodes that put a smile on my face. I think one of my favorite episodes was with a Lionel Richie song played at the prom.
Congratulations on the podcast's fourth anniversary! You saved us from the depths of despair, back in those pandemic shut-in days. Much appreciated. And also, great to hear from Grant once again.
He's awesome. It's true, Grant and Mikey both seemed like such great guys that we feel like they are friends whom we've grown up with. Seeing their ongoing friendship post-GL on social media is a comforting feeling, like if they're still friends, there's still some right in the world. ❤❤ My mother always laughed and said she knew my teen years might be rough on her when I was about 10 yrs old, and she saw my face when the newly casted Phillip came on our tv screen with no shirt on. 🤣🤣
Truly, outstanding fourth Year anniversary show!! Alan Grant was a perfect cohost. The joy and happiness from today’s show Has touched our inner hearts. Thank you for what you do to bring happiness into our lives.💯👏👍😊♥️💙
Mr. Locher, thank you for sharing your conversation with us! I feel as though I’m listening to two friends catching up and reminiscing about life and the pursuit of happiness! Congratulations on your 4 year anniversary. Mr. Alexander was indeed the perfect guest.
Loved hearing Grant talk about their work with animals. Special guy. Thank you, Alan, for reuniting us with these iconic players from this iconic (and best) era of soaps. It’s really so comforting.
So nice seeing Grant again, I just loved him on GL, yes there was a time he was gone, and it was sad, then when he was back,,,Oh we were so happy, and to see him and Beth get back together; they really both belonged together on G.L..., hoping like someone else mentioned, that it would be nice to see him on one of the Soaps, again!! and so happy he rescues Animals, anyone who does that truly have a big heart, so many sadly, are homeless, and need a Good Home!!! Thank You and Sherry for that. 🐅🐈🐈⬛
Grant was the perfect guest for this celebration! The 90 minutes flew by! I loved how much time he took responding to each name you threw out. So, So good. The Locher Room was such a blessing to us as we navigated the pandemic, and it is still a blessing today. Congratulations, Alan!
🎉 Anniversary greetings from coastal Mississippi. My dear friend Alan, this was one of the best episodes. Thank you for blessing us with Grant. I watched him on AMC. He will always be Phillip Granville Spaulding to me. My cafe, the Light House was packed to celebrate your anniversary and watch Springfield Illinois own son. Once again gracious 4 year anniversary. I remember a lot of those clips from your years past. May you have a blessed April. Best regards, Scott.....see you in the Locher Room ❤😂🎉
Grant Alexander has a presence too ! Remember him more on all my children. ! He is a great talent from the daytime tv world ! Amazing interview Alan Thank you
Congrats on 4 years Alan! You've created something great. You have a wonderful interview style; you know the best questions to ask to generate great stories and anecdotes and you let your guests talk. Loved the intro. And of course loved this interview with Grant, he's smart, gracious, interesting, just a joy to watch. Keep up the great work Alan.
Happy 4th Annicersary Alan and the Locher Room! You treat your guests with such kindness and respect, just a great great interviewer! Loved the intro. Always good to see Grant, hes a great talent, a humble and class act guy whose graced our TV screens for over 40 years This was a great interview and talking about all those fabulous former co stars was an added bonus!
Congrats on 4 YEARS !!! Been there with you from the beginning. I also spent my COVID lock down re=watching ATWT, GL & AMC - in order or not in order, it was great. I do catch General Hospital still today but am so happy I have You Tube and The Locher Room. Love love love Grant. ❤
Alan, as always, great to see these events you put together from ATWT and GL! Grant Aleksandr has always been one of my top three actors ever!! I don't know if Grant will see these, but back in 2009 I did a scene with you from "Remembering Springfield " in Atlanta, Georgia. It was a highlight to stand next to you on stage. I still have the picture taken of us in my house. Finally, the picture of the Four Horsemen brings back such awesome memories. Simply loved Guiding Light!!
@@TheLocherRoom Thank You Alan for replying to my comment. Keep up the great job of bringing actors and actresses from ATWT and GL to keep us connected with these people! Have a great day!
OMG…I stumbled upon this and was floored. I have missed these shows and Guiding Light was my favorite. I graduated high school the same time the four musketeers did and the show helped me through some hard times. I got to visit the set in 89 and unfortunately no Grant. This was during a time when Beth was locked in an asylum so I have a picture standing next to that bed. But I did get a picture with Maeve Kincaid and the incomparable Michael Zaslow. After 9/11 I read somewhere that Grant and his lovely wife helped rescue animals from places where people never came home. I wrote him a few years ago and never got an answer, but I always wanted to say as I have become a cat lady in my later years, how much I remember this and how much it still means that somebody thought to do that. I sure do wish that they would have old episodes available on streaming. How awesome it would be to relive some of that youth.
I’m sorry that I missed this. But glad I’m seeing it now. I would have loved to have asked a Grant if it’s true that after Guiding Light ended that he tried to get it back on the air. I wish he would have been able too do that. I stayed with a Guiding Light since I was a kid watching Bert and Papa Bauer And Burt. It ended way too soon. So many people still miss it, including me. It was better than any of the soaps that remain on today. Thanks for having Grant on today Alan.
my parents pulled me out of 'public' schools, too! i was having WAY too good a time, & mr popular; F grades in classes i should have passed. i was xferred into private schools immediately . . . great & informative interview!
This was great! What a way to celebrate with a class act. I still believe strongly that GL could come back in a half hour format and be fantastic. I had this vision of writing the show and it opens up with Clarissa Marler getting married to an abusive husband. Perhaps some day! Great seeing Grant and hearing his stories
Congratulations on four years and a great interview Alan. Having left “Baltimore Adjacent” (Port Deposit, Maryland) 50 years ago I was surprised to hear that Grant’s model friend was Ted Marchibroda Jr, the son of the late Colt head coach. I was especially pleased to hear Grant’s take on the saintly people that shelter and comfort our precious animals.
Thanks Alan for a wonderful interview..I couldn't help but have a tear or two for all the ppl/actors we've lost..And thanks to Grant as well..What a wonderful storyteller..I could actually see these characters in my mind's eye..I miss GL..❤❤
Congratulations on 4 yrs. It has been such a joy to watch. Grant gas always been one of my favorites. I love these videos to catch up on what he's doing. He mentioned hearing someone at the Oscar's talk about their teachers. That was Billie Eilish whose father Patrick O'Connell played Neil Everest on GL.
What a wonderful in-depth interview. Shout out Beasty Feast, my dog also loves it there! So many parallels. I was even named after Grant Aleksander. Happy Anniversary Alan! ❤
I freaking miss Guiding Light so much. I was so sad when it was cancelled. Actually I was pissed. They should've cancelled Y&R instead. That is a terrible soap opera.
@cynthiak2955 Would have to be a continuation a reboot is when different actors play the exact same characters. Wouldn't want to see someone else playing Phillip in 2024
Thanks Alan such a great 4 th anniversary celebration with grant. And just what I needed after earlier today having to deal with the cesspool of you tube and responding to a video on the so called unstriped evh fender frankenstrat style guitars that fender wants to charge people 2 grand for missing the whole spirit of Eddie van Halen which was you dont need to spend 2 grand for a guitar and if they don't make what you want build it yourself . And of course people were commenting I want Eddie's tone but don't want the stripes so me bieng me I said you don't need to spend 2 grand to do that I was like go on Amazon and order a basswood body for less than 60 dollars and either spend 300 dollars for a genuine fender neck or you can spend 60 on a fender style Chinese knockoff guitar neck and just do what Eddie did and put your ow guitar together even if you need an axe and chisel because you have not learned to use a router yet. and if you want the beat up reliicked look you can always attach chains to the guitar and drag it through a parking lot like Eddie did to stress test the guitar. And maybe I was bieng a little too much of a smart Alec but I was trying to make a point. And yes there are exceptions but not in this case where paying over a thousand dollars or more is worth it for a guitar such as as jason beckers charity auction to help raise money for his continued expenses advcare from als and Jason has the rare kind of als more like what Stephen hawking had where you can live with it fur a long time even years. And Alan the same concepts apply to daytime and creativity and yes maybe I miss the big remotes and the bigger budgets but when soaps had them they were often wasteful. Anyway another thing occurred to me over the weekend after watching old as the world turns 1987 episodes of as the world turns and then thinking of grant and the Beth Bradley Raines storyline I think Douglas wrote too and then relized that's a lot like the lily slater storyline done at loving and after reading comments on how stubidly the women of oakdale must have been to have fallen for James Stenbeck but then I remembered with Douglas rapists always died so did viliians eventually and how ahead of his time Doug Marland was but other writers years before the me too movement even existed and even daytime in general because they dealt with incest domestic voilence real life issues too like Phillip struggling with not wanting to be bad like his adopted father Alan even though he was really a marler. I remember seeing a promo for the old X-men cartoon from the 90# coming back known as X-men 97. I think there should be a guiding light return promo showing Phillip reading Alan’s will and pondering about Spaulding and it can also show shayne and Marina about to get married
Grant still looks the same 😍 I never realized before that he and Mark Grossman kinda resemble each other in their features I think it's the cheek bones, hair and smile. They're both so handsome ♥️ I LOVE the Cast of Guiding Light ♥️ They are missed 😔
I watched GL from about 1982 till until its end. My father was actually the one who got me hooked on it. He was an older parent and was retired when I was in college. I'd be working on projects at the dining table and I'd hear the GL dialogue as my dad sat on the couch watching it. I'd think, "What the hell is going on?" and have to go in there and see. I then became a regular viewer, scheduling everything around GL's time slot. I felt as though I grew up with Phillip, Rick, Beth and Mindy. To this day, I dream about the characters, notably Phillip, even though I didn't have a crush on him. (My crushes through the years were Tony Reardon, Lujack/Nick, Gus, and Jonathan.) It's heartening to see Grant looking great and basically the same as he did on GL. I've always admired his dedication to animals.
@@TheLocherRoom You are very welcome! It's wonderful to find others out there who loved "Guiding." I was saddened to hear Jerry VerDorn passed away a couple of years ago. He was kind of the glue that held the denizens of Springfield together. (I didn't see the days when Ross was a shady character.) I just discovered your channel and I truly appreciate your devotion to the GL actors. It's fun seeing what they are doing today. They're like family members I haven't seen in a long time.
Great interview. And, you even threw in AMC & Capitol (which I watched but did not have on Bingo card) too. That said, when you showed Phillip at the Springfield Country Club I wanted you to play it full volume & for you & Grant to be quiet. LOL!!! I started watching GL around 1978. Great memories. Keep up the good work.
Just watching this. So Grant A. had an apartment right around the corner from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts on 30th & Madison. There were a lot of ummmmm working girls in that area in the early 80s.
My mom's mom died of lung cancer and never smoked a day in her life. My grandpa's second wife (who was always my grandma) smoked her whole life and never had a cancer scare. I think some people are predisposed to it.
I really enjoyed this interview. His differentiation of a "star of show" and a "heart of a show" was quite interesting, especially a show like "Guiding Light" where a "heart of the show" was integral. I do really like Kim Zimmer as an actress, but I do believe that Reva Shayne's presence on GL did contribute to GL drifting from possessing a moral center/"star" of the show. Now that I really look back at it, especially after Maureen Bauer's death, Michelle Bauer and her father Ed should have remained the heart of the series with those other characters' lives revolving around them. Jerry verDorn did deservedly become that much needed "heart of the show" with time and a fabulous actor he was indeed. Now that I look back at it, as beautiful, charismatic, charming, and talented as she is, I believe that too much focus on Reva really hurt "Guiding Light" and was not really as needed. With the right actress, I would have made Michelle Bauer a doctor or nurse and focused the series more centered around her...with the right actress in the role. I would have preferred maybe Tamara Braun, Joie Lenz, Rebecca Budig, or Natalia Livingston in the part of Michelle for example. Regarding Michelle's mother, I would have had Maureen's heart go to Annie Dutton back then. Perhaps, since Michelle's biological mother Claire Ramsey was mischievous enough, the writers didn't feel that it would be good to have Michelle deal with both Claire and Annie.
Grant does not age. Such a nice man. Wonderful actor. Still miss seeing him on my screen all the time.
Agreed, Sharon!

Love this story, Elizabeth. Thank you for sharing that with me.
I'm sorry we started speaking. Thank you for tuning-in.
All good. You’re allowed to speak. It’s like …….your show. LOL!!! GL & ATWT were my jam. They were best shows. It was basically Broadway every day.
Excelent Happy For You Many More ❤💐🫂🥂💯👍🎭 Hugs From Sangre de Cristo, New Mexico 🎉

Is that a portrait of Philip behind Grant? I'm half-kidding but great interview!
It is Grant - - from his wedding.
Grant has not aged.
Right? 😍😍
Interesting story on the portrait. I would've thought it was something he got to take home from GL.
Right? 😍😍
Just watching this. So Grant A. had an apartment right around the corner from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts on 30th & Madison. There were a lot of ummmmm working girls in that area in the early 80s.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Beverly was the true Baraness in fact her picture should appear in the dictionary under Baraness
YES!
My mom's mom died of lung cancer and never smoked a day in her life. My grandpa's second wife (who was always my grandma) smoked her whole life and never had a cancer scare. I think some people are predisposed to it.
I agree, Brett. It sucks either way.
Loved Mary Kay Adams.
I'm glad you enjoyed the interview. I appreciate your take on Guiding Light.
I hear that they are talking about creating 2 new soap operas for day time. Instead of creating they need to bring back GL and One Life to Live.
