The Sega CD version is actually the one I played as a kid (and was, like, one of two Sega CD games I got an opportunity to play regularly) since my neighbor had a Sega CD (and not an SNES). And man, was it a BLAST to play.
Love these videos The Sega CD version was prob one the reasons I was happy to be an early adopter. I used to play it all the time. The jump from the SNES was huge. And I still play the OST from time to time. Especially that first track. The base is crazy loud.
Fun facts: There is a Game Boy Advance version of Final Fight 1 called "Final Fight One" and it is a remake of the original arcade version. The GBA version was developed by Sun-Tec and was released in 2001. In the GBA version of the game, you can play as Guy, Cody, Haggar, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Cody and Street Fighter Alpha 3 Guy, you can play in 2-player mode via link cable and vice versa.
Just to add to this a bit. The original Super Famicom release of Final Fight has the blood intact, unlike the Snes release. Roxy and Poison are also present, unlike the Snes release, and in their skimpy clothes, unlike the Sega CD release. The statues with breast exposed are uncensored on the last stage, unlike the Snes release. Damnd and Sodom retain their original names, unlike the Snes release. "OH MY GOD!" was kept in the bonus stage, unlike the Snes release. The darker colored skin characters in the game are intact and not white washed, unlike the Snes release. Belger's chair remains the same as the arcade, unlike the Snes release. Stage 3 stays a bar, instead of a "club", unlike the Snes release. Music timing in scenes is correct, unlike the Snes release. There are probably a couple other minor things too, but in general, if you must play Final Fight on Snes, buy the SFC cart instead. Mega CD wise blood is restored also, and Poison and Roxy have skimpy clothes again. Basically the lesson here is that both the Sega CD and Snes releases are missing stuff. If you want the best releases, you need to buy the uncensored Japanese versions on either system. Also, the timing of the animations is off on the Sega CD and Mega CD game. This affects the dial combos some when you convert them into throws and the over all speed of the game because the animations for the attacks are slightly slower then they should be. The Snes/SFC versions do not suffer this issue.
This Final Fight game was awesome. Terminator was another one with great music and sound effects. I was a fan of that system for the short time it lived. Even with the loading I preferred to play games like Mortal Kombat on Sega CD too.
Another great video, I love Final Fight and played the SNES a lot when I was a kid. I knew of the Mega CD version but never played it, I wish I would have had it when I was younger, would have been amazing playing 2 player with friends.
My brother and I found Final Fight CD at Toys R Us for $9.99 when we bought our Sega CDX on clearance. It was an awesome weekend for sure. I think it was 1995.
Best Beat'em Ups for 16-bit are as follow: 1st place: SNES - TMNT: Turtles In Time 2nd place: Genesis - Streets of Rage 2 3rd place: Sega CD - Final FIght
This a welcomed edition and a new format, but I have to say although it's a lot of work, you guys shine when your working off each other Infront of the camera, keep up the good work.
I own Final Fight CD, have had my original copy from new, got it back in 1993 (Dual case version PAL MEGA CD) as I am from the UK.. The Music is fantastic.. Is a must own for any 16 BIT system..
I TOTALLY enjoyed your video. Since this is my introduction of your channel. Looks like I'm gonna have to binge watch today & subscribe, which is fine by THIS guy. Keep up the awesome work, Boss
The SNES version of Final Fight was almost certainly a rush job to get it out in time for the Super Famicom launch window. Final Fight 2 is proof that the SNES would've been capable of a more proper port of the original game.
Love these videos, Mate. Also this video and your batman comparison video have made me search up their sega cd osts. Thank you for bringing these amazing soundtracks to my attention.
I got my Sega CD version of final fight back in 1995 for only 20.00 and still have it to this day. Nice that it was added to ps3 along with magic sword a few years back
The Sega CD should have really promoted games that go beyond what a standard 16 bit game. Release the ultimate home versions of games. I have a Sega CD and it could have been so much greater than it was!
in Mega-CD (japan version of sega cd) poison and roxy no contain censure, and in the version japanese of snes (SFC) the game contain poison and roxy instead the sid and billy punks...
Same here. That strange racing game where Sonic was seen for the same time, the infamous first person Dragon Ball Z game, Tekken 3, Sega Rally, House of Dead, Point Blank, etc. They were all in Japanese but fun was always there with friends.
It's hard to choose between the arcade and the Sega CD versions. The arcade has slightly better graphics and (depending on the region) it has no censorship, however the music is so much better on Sega CD. I'd say it would be great if you can go for both versions, but ignore the Snes one at all cost.
Also I really loved the Andore fighter, the big guy who looks like Andre the Giant. He was a epic BAD guy. Back then these fighting/side scrolling 2D adventure games were so good, so unique, and so much fun. Streets of Rage on the Genesis was another one. But this one on the Sega💿CD💿 was probably the best of the side scrollers. Good graphics, cool levels, great bosses, and a awesome soundtrack. This is easily a 9 or 9.5/10.
Hey, please change your cables for Genesis/ mega drive and sega cd. Try RGB scart cables. Picture looks way too washed out in your videos. Maybe your console have some problems? It lacks contrast.
There is so many differences between the two that I don't think a four and a half minute video will cover it. Everything from the ability to select all three characters from the arcade, better graphics, bigger sprites (I think), no censorship, music, voice work, Sega CD has all levels...it's a pretty huge gulf. Damn.. man, I stand corrected. Good job!
Well done! I have the Sega CD version and love it! Just makes me so sad Capcom and Sega did not use this game engine for Captain Commando for the Sega Cd :(
Great episode! Looking forward to the next one. Maybe sonic cd vs genesis sonic and/or master system sonic? Then again that might not work as well. Just a thought.
glad I chose UN Squadron over Final Fight when they first came out on the SNES. Later bought a Sega CD and could finally get the better version! I was hoping you and greg would do final fight as a console wars episode. it'd be a Dan sweep!
edmanr2010 I have Double Impact on 360 and CCC Vol. 1 on PS2, and I still prefer the Sega CD version even to those arcade ports. 2 reasons: I like the remixes music on the Sega CD version better than Double Impact’s, and I feel that the difficulty is balanced better. The Sega CD version has fewer enemies on screen at once than arcade (but more than SNES)
I have Double Impact on PS4 and I find the challenges annoying as crap keeps popping up on the screen every 5 minutes, it puts me off.. I also have the fantastic Final Fight CD on MEGA CD, a fantastic port. What I do like about Double impact is the other game :)
Same here when I was a kid back in the 90's but I really hated the fact it was only 1 player, I owned a genesis and my cousin too while my neighbor a snes so we traded in the summer and my cousin came over but we could only play per lives. So we ended up playing Streets of Rage 1 or 2 more often than not.

Genesis version is tougher to run the ball, or the defense is relentless! I have both and prefer Segas, the snes ports are to easy. Would like to see Tecmo 3final addition as well
Hey guys, I thought up a great idea. How about thunder force 3 vs thunder spirit's? They are the same game but thunder force is on the Genesis, and thunder spirit's is on the SNES.
I'm pretty sure the programmers thought the super Nintendo couldn't handle all the stuff they cut out of the first game but by the time the second one came out, they included all those cut things, I'm sure if they would have re released the first game after the second one got released, it would include everything that was cut in the original release. also if i remember correctly, poison and Roxy wear the sexy clothes in the super famicom version

The SegaCD music was a complete remix of the arcade music. Another game reprogrammed by Sega. And, like most Sega CD games, while digital music, not compressed one (quality is awesome!). For me, the best Final Fight version, and at the side of Sonic CD, the best game of the console.

The Sega CD doesn't sound like the Arcade. It sounds way better than the Arcade.
Shinespark I was thinking the same. Sega CD basically had a soundtrack.
Yep
The arcade sounds like regular Genesis chip music.
I agree. I was thinking the same thing.
Agreed, it's a shame we didn't get the CD mix as a music option for the capcom beat em up bundle
The Sega CD version is actually the one I played as a kid (and was, like, one of two Sega CD games I got an opportunity to play regularly) since my neighbor had a Sega CD (and not an SNES). And man, was it a BLAST to play.
That CD quality kills that snes chip tunes. Wow. Great soundtrack for the CD version!
The Sega CD version was not developed by Capcom. Sega licensed it from Capcom and ported it themselves.
Love these videos

Yeah I basically lived in Final Fight One for a month straight when I got it. Such a fun game!
The Japanese version of Final Fight for the Sega CD did not censor any characters and cut scenes.
Yeap. Same with Super Famicom.
Just to add to this a bit. The original Super Famicom release of Final Fight has the blood intact, unlike the Snes release. smart guy
Final Fight CD, was one of the main reasons why I got the Sega CD. Moreover, got it at clearance at toys r us for $9.99 during 1995 or 1996.
This Final Fight game was awesome. Terminator was another one with great music and sound effects. I was a fan of that system for the short time it lived. Even with the loading I preferred to play games like Mortal Kombat on Sega CD too.

"Sega CD sounds...MOSTLY like the arcade"
Well I admit that track sounds a LOT better than it did on Double Impact for the 360/PS3.
SNARCast Productions sega cd sounds better than the arcade
My brother and I found Final Fight CD at Toys R Us for $9.99 when we bought our Sega CDX on clearance. It was an awesome weekend for sure. I think it was 1995.
Me too.
But the SNES soundtrack of Final Fight is pure 16-bit cheesy chiptune. So many hours listening to that while playing the game over and over again.
Sega CD version has a Rapid Punch "Cheat" On the Options screen, highlight Exit, and press Right + A + B + Start.

SOHGuy Awesome. I’m all about spreading the word for awesome video game music.
Final fight cd in Japan doesn't have censorship. Just to add
The Snes music while not as good as the Sega Cd's still had good tunes.
Nice one Dan. I'm really enjoying these comparison videos! Keep up the great work.

equinoxfan82 Thanks Derek!
Final Fight was developed by Capcom but ported by Sega for the SEGA CD.
Couldn't find that. Good to know!
Similar to what they did to Capcom's other games pre-SF2SCE, namely Forgotten Worlds, Strider, Ghouls 'N Ghosts and my personal favorite, Mercs.
@@SNARC15 The Mega Drive port of Mercs is better than the arcade IMO, thanks to that great extra mode.
@@dudinacas So true.
I dont think you mentioned that in your coverage of final fight?!
Anyone looking to play Final Fight CD should check check out Pyron's Colour hack. It makes Final Fight CD look much closer to the arcade.
I have both and definitely recommend SCD version. Its fun!

Mega-CD is cheap and no censoring . Best of bunch for these consoles .
cheap?!! £60-£100
@@sb6482 the market value when I made the comment 3 years ago was different than today. Nothing's cheap now 😉

Fantastic video dude! I'm a sucker for anything Final Fight. I'd say that Final Fight CD is even better than the arcade version, especially the music.

I believe the games color palette also lacks contrast and vibrancy, so that also doesn't help.
Retro Soul It looks better than this in person. In this video characters and backgrounds blurry together, that’s not the case in reality.
HDRetrovision also makes component cables which make Genesis games look pixel perfect.
You guys should do a console wars on the Spider-Man Animated series game for snes and Genesis

As an SNES kid.. Final Fight CD is what I wish the SNES was.

Sega CD takes a massive dump on the SNES. Not surprised!
In this game but most of the time the SNES smacks it's manhood on the Sega CD and 32X's forehead.

yea man, i got used to Final Fight SNES for so many years but i knew that Guy was also on it and that u could make it 3 player
