But why are the spectators standig so near the road, do they have a deathwish? They will be kill instantly if they get hit by a car that have lost its controll for a reason...

Are these cars all racing on the course at the same time ? If so, then wouldn't it be an impossibility for one car to overtake the other and hence bring about an element of randomness and anxiousness to the race ? Because otherwise it would suck cause the first position would stay in that position throughout the race.
They are but start at different times. It's not about where you are when you cross the finish but based on time.
2 min intervals for the first cars in WRC, national rallies usually 1 min. Some in Ireland even 30 sec

These guys really really amaze me and all the credit goes to nascar or f1 drivers but these guys going 5 ft of the ground and keep it stable
It's easy to do a corner a 100 times compared to 10.000 corners once!

Funny how they seem to apply different safety standards for each WRC event. You can't even get within 50m of the "Gina" jump on the Baumholder stage in Germany. Here they're right next to it
+tommy9927 No trees or banks to hide behind at the Gina jump and much more unpredictable cars on tarmac when jumping, i think one guy got killed there in 2014 by a Historic car.
Are there no safety regulations for the WRC when it comes to spectators? They line the outside of every corner it seems. Here in the US, and I know, in the grand scheme of things, Rally America isn't on the same level as the WRC, we have very strict regulations for where spectators can stand and watch from. Just curious..
JoeyandLindsay There are but you always got the odd ones taking big risks, not saying I'm not an risk taker but i try to limit the risk, hopefully got some experience from more than a 100 rallies! Yeah i know, the rules in US are silly strict though! Can't be much fun with everyone packed up in junctions...

Do you know on which stage and maybe even know which part of the stage? i am visiting rally sweden this year and would love to know this spot, can you help? i mean the section on minute 17.26 in your video
+Jeroen van der Heiden Thanks! 17:26 is the same as the opening clip in Fredriksberg, but that stage runs the other direction but there should still be some jumps, search for Gigi Galli Sweden 2006 to find the onboard in that direction. +Tor Andre Børresen Wow thanks for your quick response! i know that they run this year the stage in other directions, we have visited the rally last year also, for a Dutch men its dificult to find the good spots outside the crowdy spectator points ;)!
+Jeroen van der Heiden No problem! Use the onboards on WRC+ from last year, makes it easy to find the good spots and entry roads since it has GPS maps on most stages :)

hukocka To get the studs through the loose snow and down to the grippy ice, they used to be even narrower but they are wider now so they can use the gravel rims and save costs.
