Generally the board isn’t bad, it’s just a component or a short of an open line causing whatever issue. That being said your iCloud is on that board. If you put another board in your iCloud won’t be on that board. Obviously make sure that the board you are installing doesn’t have a lock iCloud or otherwise

Does the board swap affect the camera functionality
There are 3 paired parts on the 1. The screen the battery and the Face ID assembly. If you have a donor phone and all you do is drop a logic board in you’ll end up with a screen message a battery message (and no battery health data) and Face ID will not be functional
@@repaironwheelsso what you‘re saying is, that keeping the original old parts (screen, Id-camera & Accu) will also lead to all these false parts messages, even if or although you have original parts in your phone ? So these 3 parts are in every individually single (newer) iPhone straight connected with each other ?

You’ll have to elaborate on what you mean by crashed. Assuming the board in it crashed iphone is fine and the parts in that iCloud locked phone are fine, go for it. I do motherboard swaps all the time

iCloud lock is specific to each motherboard so yes. As long as the board you are replacing it with doesn’t have an iCloud lock than you are good to go. Hopefully you find a board with all of the matching components (Face ID, ear speaker, screen, battery, camera, rear camera)

I am for a minimum profit, obviously more if I can get away with it. There are times I will sell the same model/spec for different prices depending on how much I have into one vs the other. Or how impatient I am

This is a great example of a perfect use of a parts phone. Drop the logic board of the unlocked device into the carrier locked/iCloud locked device and you’re good to go

Would it work for say... An IPhone 5S or a 4S since those usually lack any form of software locks.. 5S boards come with the matching home button (*i think*)
Unfortunately not. iOS 7 introduced activation lock. And pretty much every device is on 7 or newer 😔

Face ID is paired to the device. In order to retain it you need their front camera assembly (all models) and the ear speaker flex (12 series and older). As long as you have that component and it’s mot damaged Face ID should work

There are holes in the board that you secure down with a stand off screw. They are literally in different places from one to the other. The sim tray is in a different spot. The camera flex would come up too short. As would the power/volume flex and the charging port flex

You can drop the motherboard from one 13 into the housing of another 13. If all you have is the motherboard, you will have 3 unknown part messages and no Face ID

In order to retain Face ID you need to transfer front camera assembly + ear speaker flex along with the board

Face ID is paired to the original logic board. So using a new board with the oled Face ID wouldn’t work.

Face ID should work as long as it’s the original that was paired to the device, the person that disassembled the device didn’t damage it, same goes for you installing it.

how do i get the glass off without cracking it? & is passfab unlocker a scam? i already paid for it & spent over 20 hours trying to get into this locked phone, im not versed in ITsoftware but i im a pretty good tinker ,so i figured i can put this puzzle togyher n swap all yhe pieces except the frame n front/back glass. would i still have to plug it into the computer or should it power on with my passcode & lock screen. id love that but it sounds too good to be true. if i had it id pay anybody else to do it.
i was given recently the exact same iphone 11pro like i had cracked (still functional at about 10% visual capacity) & same color only issues i think are that its in spanish and idk how to remove the glass on these models and if the motherboard n speaker are the only things i need to swap bc of the found one being locked & spanish?
It’s definitely not locked to Spanish. You can change the language. I have a full tear down on the 11 pro max which is almost identical to the 11 pro That should help you get an idea on how to swap the logic board from phone to phone

iCloud status is specific to each board. Assuming the board you are replacing it with isn’t iCloud locked and doesn’t have any issues than yes you should be fine. Same goes for software update

The passcode/iCloud/etc is attached to the motherboard. As long as the board you are replacing it with doesn’t have a passcode you’re good

The bare necessity for your repair is a logic board that’s not iCloud activation locked. Ideally a board with comes with the front camera and ear speaker so you can retain Face ID functionality. Even more ideal is: front camera + ear speaker + rear camera + battery so you can avoid apples stupid ‘unknown part’ messages.

To retain Face ID in a 12 you need not only the front camera but the ear speaker flex as well. On top of that if you don’t have the original screen, rear camera or battery, you will have an ‘Unknown’ part message for each component l. Those features will still work, you’ll just have an annoying message in settings

You lose True Tone with a new screen eve if it’s oem Apple (unless you buy the $100 programmer). You’ll also lose battery health in settings unless you spot weld the daughter board to the new battery. I’ve done many repairs exactly like this and the vast majority of customers aren’t bothered by it if there is a decent amount of savings to justify the loss of those two functionalities.

You would need to use the original parts that the device was paired with. Or at a minimum transfer what you can: battery bms, screen ic. Or live with the original part messages.

@RaoSahabIPS there isn’t a solution, sell it for parts. Or find a non locked board and drop it and deal with the messages. Or transfer the screen ic and battery bms or pay someone. Those are pretty much your only options

Customers I ask at the during the repair, offerup/Craigslist/Facebook, or Facebook groups. Also whenever I list something on offerup I leave a comment at the bottom saying I buy phones, on the back of my car I have a decal. Just to name a few

Most newer models have the liquid damage sticker next to the sim. Pop out the tray and flip the phone over and there’s a little slot

iCloud is a server based lock and specific to each motherboard. As long as you have a known good board without an iCloud activation lock, you’re good to go. But there are far too many downsides which is why I suggest not doing so in the video

Ebay is the first place I would suggest. Just make sure to read the description and ask questions if something isn’t immediately obvious. Also pay with a credit card or PayPal so you have recourse if something happens

You can buy an entire iPhone 11 for around 200 or less. Generally the pros don’t outweigh the cons with buying motherboards. That was the entire point to the video

Apple shows those messages if any part other than the one that was originally paired from the factory is installed. So your parts may very well be genuine but thanks to apples anti repair practices you are stuck with those messages

Im in a Facebook group for other repair shop owners which is how I found that one. Generally I suggest eBay so that you have some recourse if the board is bad

I’d cut your losses if you have any. It’s far too easy to scam someone by selling them a board that you have no way of verifying it’s good or not until it’s in the phone. Also: if I had a clean board I would put it into another phone and sell that phone faster and easier than I could board only

What cellphone repair shop/person sells a logicboard that is not icloud locked for $50. He could do the same thing you're doing. Either you are straight lying or you bought a sus phone and swapped the board.
I’m in a Facebook group with a bunch of other cell phone repair shop owners, which is where I got the board from.
The point of the video was to highlight all the reasons why regular people out there shouldn’t go looking for boards because there are far too many ways for them to get screwed. Cuz i get that question all the time from customers calling into my shop
