Haters gonna hate. But I love everything about the EF600, the Amp, the DAC; the sound. I tried an Hifiman Serenade, it lacked that awesome rumbly dynamic and very extended subbass. Sends chills down my spine whenever i hear my caldera, charybdis, and LCD 4 run through this thing. Very good synergy between its DAC and Amp too, which is praise on to itself imo.
I tried to demo this at London Canjam at the weekend . The unit had no volume when I commented the guy said it looks like the volume control has died. And I would have to come back while they swap it out. Good to see you there too Zeos
At CanJam London you came to the Astell and Kern stand, I was sitting there listening to the SP3000. You came over, and picked up my DC Elite thinking it's CanJam's product. You didn't say anything to me, just picked up the Elite and said "oh this is a persons individual unit" then put it back down. I was like thats Zeos, but you never even noticed me. So I didnt say hi. 😂

But in some small way I know you have to miss your old place where you built that badass tv on hydraulic arms that went up to the ceiling when you weren’t using it and of course I miss seeing Chewbacca in the background. Call me sentimental, but I watched you review so many speakers in that apartment or condo. Whatever it was I remember the walls being made of concrete weren’t they anyway I’m glad you’re still doing this!
I miss the simple times. It was a cute little place. But renting forever is a bad move. Covid made me do it and I regret nothing. Also that hundred 104-inch screen that used to go up became 150-inch screen that still goes up just manually

@@spamcan9208 not going to defend the cheap wobbly connection, but I will defend a rectangle knob in general because you are less likely to accidentally have it set to high unknowingly and blow your eardrums out.
That headphone must be ridiculous if you can't get full volume. They made that Dac to go with the Susvara too, which is one of the hardest to drive out there. It did drive my Susvara with enough volume but not with full quality. My EF600 was junk and I sent it back. The distortion rate of the Dac side of it was high. But the Amp side was great. Maybe mine was defective, but I couldn't get past the loose knob either. Disappointing.
Damn that's sad to hear. And yes the tungsten's are the hardest headphones on Earth to drive. You need a amplifier that has extremely high gain biased towards voltage

Great video and mouse pad zeos. But I suggest you should stop using EHA-5, there are some serious defect in EHA-5 circuit design may burn your electrostatic headphones.
I don’t buy anything that does not lay flat, it is just how my OCD works. I have the EF400 and EF5, I do love their products but no more upgrading with them until they make lay flat units again.
In all probability IF you've heard a difference between the NOS and the proper DAC configuration, it's the stupidly high amount of ultrasonics a (usually filter-less) NOS DAC lets through, which can create audible amounts of intermodulation distortion down in the audible band via aliasing. Or it could be an early-rolloff in the highs on the NOS, the other type of anti-fidelity that analogophiles really like.
This is a contrast to Josh valors of this unit which was kinda meh. So I will watch for more reviews. I believe arilic (same manufavters of Vega dac ) made a class a amp dac and headphone amp that was 2 watts of power out of ts xlr but was $2,000 new back in the day. Thanks for entertainment!

If most of these "reviewers` happen to align with options (which is rare) than that's just more data points for me if weather the hype is real or so done shilling product. So many shillers on you tube to get clicks, followers and a check rolling in make it another source of income. I have no issue with it. You just have to be able to sort the hype out from the shillers and try it for yourself.

The New Balance one was the only other amplifier at canjam New York that I actually took a notice to the sound doing something better. Compared to this
My initial reaction to hearing them at New York canjam was that they wanted to add bass to the original design but instead of adding more bass they simply took away the mids and highs and it sounds lame
Did not like the DAC sound of the EF600. Where the EF400 had such warm magic and engagement, the EF600 was lacking in warmth, dynamics, and sounded kinda honky and papery. It had sparkly detail and soundstage but overall I preferred the tonality of the EF400.

Can you connect the EF600's preouts to the SMSL VMV A1 (class A) power amplifier? The VMV A1 has a volume knob, so you can regulate volume, and as I understand the EF600 has no volume control on the outputs. Would it be possible to connect those two?
Here a copy of my comment on another first look at the EF600: Just my $.02: I have Arya v2 (non stealth) and 2020 Sundara headphones. I had the EF400 and traded it in for the EF600 about a month ago. All are well burned in. The EF600 has two R2R DACs, a separate one for each fully balanced channel. I think the volume pot is the same one from the EF400, feels similarly loose and has a slight channel imbalance the first couple of degrees 0-3, like the 400. The less than premium feel is Not a functional issue tho and the bar style knob is easy to see where it's set. The other function switch is solid. I always use the balanced HP connectors but did try the SE front out which doesn't connect solidly with my Hart SE 1/4" cable...jiggle to get both channels...again Not an issue for me but is a ridiculous fail given the hi quality overall. Sound: Very immersive and beautiful...the Arya V2 does not ever put out that "over the top highs" it's noted for. Depending on the input (all via USBa, IMac, ripped CD's and up to 24/192 AIFF files) I use which ever Hi gain, Lo gain, OS, and NOS sounds best. I could be end game with the Arya right here, but... My reference system is the Arya on a MB AIR, or OPPO 83, I2s, Pontus 2, Jot 2 stack. This adds more air, separation, $$$'s, and nuance to the sound, but with the very occasional over-the-top treble. There are several more capabilities still to test on the EF600 but I'm very happy with it so far! And kudos to HiFiMan fro doing the trade up.
With all of the tech friends you reference, how come you can't manage to master Windows? Windows 7 is a nightmare for managing multiple sound sources. You have claimed many times to still be running this grossly out of date OS. Windows 10 stably runs multiple instances of ASIO. I've 10 ASIO sources and USB DAC's. I have headaches numbered in the zero's. It's just not that tough.
Sure, if you air gap it. Holding on to a grossly out of date Window's is like breast feeding, until you are 13, and still clinging to Mommy's saggy knockers.

He doodles around and keeps going off track, and more off trac into total irrelevance.Just really annoying. He should play back some of his videos and listen to what he does; and they also should be way shortened. Annoying to the nth degree. I am interested in headphones but just can't take it with this guy.

Can the EF600 be used as a preamplifier for e.g. SMSL VMV A1 class A power amplifier? (which I own). And what headphone amplifier is better, the A1 or the EF600 ?
