    Thanks Cap! That was just the info I was needing to see. I had put my tender on a new battery and it spooked me because it was going up to 14.5 and I was afraid it would over charge. Thanks for affirmation that it is doing what it supposed to do.

    Very informative, I have the same for my sx190, just plug it in and forget about it, but now I know what it all means. Lol. thanks Leon.

    Another helpful video, Leon. Thanks. Question for ya... From what you know about Battery Tenders, is there really a need to remove the battery and bring it inside to put on the battery maintainer?. I've read where people leave their batteries in their boat and hook up the BT to it all winter. My boat sits on a lift. Two very heavy batteries (and a bad back!) so I'd much prefer to leave them in the boat. My only concern with doing this is whether there would be adequate ventilation with the storage cover on to prevent batteries from overheating. My 222XE batteries are under a seat cushion, so I can leave that open, but the big issue is the boat being "sealed" by the storage cover. I have the BT 800 model which is weather proof (so no worries there) and only puts out 800 milliamps. Would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks!

      I mean you mentioned my concerns with this, ventilation. Batteries that are charging need to vent. If you feel that's not an issue, and the boat will stay dry, then perhaps you can keep the batteries in the boat. Another option is to fully charge them and then let them sit all winter as they are. You can then top them off in the Spring. I'm assuming there are no gas fumes around either...lol.

      I have owned Battery Tender products for years and I would give them all 5 stars! My son even rode over one and it still works!

    Good video. I use battery tender as well. All that quality stuff, and you use a multi meter from Horrible Freight.

    What is the difference between this unit for charging a boat battery and a minn kota on board charger?

    • @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore
      @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Darrin, I'm not really familiar with the Minn Kota unit, but this unit is designed to determine the voltage and charge accordingly. You can leave it on the charger all winter long without any concerns. Thanks for watching!

    I use the Battery Tender Jr for charging my motorcycle. Can I use this on the Everstart Group 29 Wet Cell Marine battery or is it best to get the Battery Tender Plus?

    • @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore
      @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly not sure Mike, I use the Tender plus as that is what they said I needed for an AGM battery. Give the Battery Tender people a call. Thanks for watching.

      Mr. Nosek, as indicated in the video the multimeter was a Harbor Freight give away, as far as the Battery Tender goes, the link is already in the video description...lol.

    Let’s see how you attached the cables for inexperienced people, please.

    • @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore
      @CaptainLeonsBoatingandMore  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      122 Wendy, the red positive cable goes to the positive terminal, while the negative black cable goes to the negative terminal.

    • @122wendy
      @122wendy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know that part, but there was another cable in my Battery Tender kit which I wasn’t sure if I needed to hook up. Found out later it is for a hard wired hook up which I am not doing. Have boat battery detached and in garage. Instructions were a bit confusing. But I’ve got it connected now. Thanks.

      Connect the positive (red) terminal first when connecting and then the negative (black) terminal. When disconnection, do the opposite- Neg first then positive!
