- ISAAC ALBÉNIZ (1860 - 1909) composed CÓRDOBA (Op. 232, No. 4) as the 4th movement of 'Chants d'Espagne' for piano solo.
It is perhaps best known in the arrangement for Spanish guitar by Miguel Llobet and since then it has become one of the most
loved Spanish works of classical (guitar) music.
It is believed that Albéniz was inspired by the Great Mosque of Córdoba in Córdoba, Andalusia. Some say that the "beauty and romance, together with the particular charm of the city of Cordoba, inspired this composition.
In this video you can here this wonderful composition in the arrangement for Mandolin Chamber Orchestra by the conductor
performed by the Dutch Mandolin Chamber orchestra
HET CONSORT conducted by Alex Timmerman.
The video was made during the
Int. Edinburgh Festival Fringe
at the orchestra's concert
on the 23rd of August, 2017, in the
St. Andrew's and St. George's West Church,
Edinburgh, Scotland.
Many thanks go to Aafke Zijlstra-Bakker
and Herman Verbruggen for filming
and to Alex Timmerman for editing
and the finalisation of the video.
