    Shine on you crazy diamond! I came for the elden ring, subbed for armored core, and stayed for the breadth of games you've done longer story telling videos on.
    So I'm here for the long haul and so are a lot of the others, I'd imagine.

      Thanks! Yeah I just like doing this. You sit there and watch TH-cam after TH-cam and you usually agree with half of what they say and disagree with the other half, and you just want to talk about it. At most you can get maybe a reddit thread going, or a few comments about what you think. Maybe talk with a friend, and you both agree but that's it. This channel allows me to say the dumbest craziest shit and hear what hundreds of other people think and that's just the best.

    Thanks for the feedback man. Watched your Elden Ring video. I’m still holding out on what I fully think on the story but your theory is amazing and well put together. Whatever you decide to do with your channel… you should succeed. You got an awesome way of sharing your opinion regardless of controversy over that opinion. Good luck man. Hope to watch more!

    Let's go! I'm excited to see your theories. I'd also be interested in a retrospective/opinion pieces of games you are personally interested. I'm so stoked you are into Strangers in Paradise. As a kid I thought Squall was so cool, and that games feels like it just wants to be "cool" in the same idgaf way.

      Yeah, I feel like edgy characters were ridiculed out of the industry, but they are so good when done right.

    Came to your channel because you got the thumbnail, title, and video length to attract me. Watched your entire diable retrospective and absolutely loved it. Here past your 6000 subs, but I'm happy to be here for your journey. Even loved this vid and actually watched the entire thing. Thanks man, enjoying your content and can't wait to see more in the far future!

    Your theory of the player actually being Miquella in Elden Ring is one of my favorite theories for Elden Ring. Even if it’s proven false it will still be my head canon from now on.

    Glad you got the push to start pulling ad revenue. Kind of excited to see what you got coming in the future and even more excited to see how well you do it. Kind of like being one of Summoning Salts original 1000 subscribers. Your single take audio really helps it feel more personal. Feels like I'm listening to one of my DnD friends discuss the games they enjoy and the lore behind them. You have a real genuine quality to how you talk and explain things. I don't watch a lot of TH-camrs but ill be checking your channel for new videos for sure dude. Keep on keeping on

      Thank you! I appreciate the confidence! When I started I just wanted to talk about games, but like I said I'm not really anyone special. Who knows what kind of inflated ego I'll have in a years time, but my hope is I never think I know more than any one of my subscribers. That I don't have a better or worse opinion than any single one of you guys. I just happen to post it on TH-cam.

    • @AngelOfThePast
      @AngelOfThePast  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'll keep you in mind! Like I said I'm not at that phase yet. I also really need to understand how best to record my videos before I move to that phase. Right now I just sit down in the morning, put a towel over my monitors and record everything at once. It works but it's a pain to edit, and I'd like it to be easier for me to edit before I get someone else to edit it. (also I need channel money flow, because idc if you offered to do it for free I'd still demand to pay you)

    • @Aeonbarr
      @Aeonbarr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@AngelOfThePast I find recording the whole thing at once like that is great for getting that natural sort of feel to your recording but recording in segments based on topic makes it easier to edit and organize, just gotta cut em all together at the end, which is usually pretty easy.
      If you're worried about your set up, I'd recommend some sound proofing foam at the corners of your recording space. It's usually about $12 on amazon for like 6-8 drcent sized patches. From there itll be more about your mic's sensitivity and noise cancelling settings

    • @AngelOfThePast
      @AngelOfThePast  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah when I move I plan on buying a bunch of those, right now I don't want to set it up just to have to take it down in a month. I'm really excited to see how well it works out. I'd like to record it in segments, but whenever I stop the recording mid session the audio quality changes drastically.

    • @Aeonbarr
      @Aeonbarr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AngelOfThePast what programs are you using? Or do you think its more of like accidental micro-adjustment to your set up between segments?

    • @AngelOfThePast
      @AngelOfThePast  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Aeonbarr Lol what programs. So first I used windows voice recorder. That was terrible, but had the most consistency. (It was consistently terrible though). I used WavePad Sound editor to edit the audio though.
      Then I thought, why don't I just use it to record? This was the worst offender. I use a messaging software for work called teams, and I was reading it causes some bad audio discrepancies (and it does) so I started closing that before recording. That worked for a while, but my voice has a lot of base in it. Even in great conditions I can manage the microphone still has so much base.
      This led me to find Audacity. This helped recording quality like this immensely, with their easy to use EQ (and significantly larger youtube tutorial community.) I still edit in Wavepad but I use audacity. I still get the differences in recording, I think that the cause is probably just background noise. I record at night or first thing in the morning with my tower PC off, as well as the heat so it's as quite as possible in my apartment, and that usually helps it. But that was a revelation in Elden Ring and this 1000 sub video, so it's so far fairly untested. (So is audacity that was only in these two videos as well.)

  • @RuslanLagashkin
    @RuslanLagashkin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    First of all, congrats!
    Secondly, a bit of feedback about the process: finding an exact video fragment or an in-game item description sounds like a very wasteful process and it seems from the tone of your voice that you are not enjoying this routine that much. At the same time, there are item descriptions and all dialogs of all characters already collected in wiki pages. Personally, I wouldn't mind if, instead of screenshots from an actual gameplay, the wiki descriptions of items and dialogs would be used.
    In any case, thank you for the videos which are among the best from the intellectual perspective that TH-cam has to offer.

      @@AngelOfThePast Ah, I see. Looks like I've misunderstood. Sorry!

    • @AngelOfThePast
      @AngelOfThePast  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No no not at all, if anything I'm sorry! I actually sent that before it was done and just now saw that I did. Sorry!
      Yeah I just meant it's hard to respond genuinely to comments that ask me to explain something about a topic I made a video about. It's also not that I don't like responding to them, most of the time I love it, it's just that it takes a long time. In a perfect world I'd love to give every comment and sub the time it needs, but it can be very very time consuming.
      Also as a side note (in case you're interested) I and others in the lore sniffing community routinely find contradictory information in the wiki as opposed to what happened in the game. So it's dangerous for me to rely on things that aren't item descriptions or dialog pulled directly from the game.

    • @RuslanLagashkin
      @RuslanLagashkin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AngelOfThePast Indeed, that is a good point about the wiki not being always right outside of a narrow spectrum of things. A bit tangentially, I could perhaps even go as far as claiming that that is an interesting signature of our time that deeper discussions moved from forums and wikis to thematic chats or videos, which actually makes the information harder to find and preserve over time. "All these memories will be lost, like tears in rain" kind of situation.
      In any case, let me thank you once more for the golden content in the videos. Somehow you manage to pull out the very underlying essence of things and expose it in a sensible manner.
