I think the biggest difference in that Percy wasn't as detached from the world, the civilisation that Luke would destroy as collateral damage. He was slightly more sensitive to the wellbeing of the people around him, slightly more afraid of what the gods can do and slightly less willing to trust any other supreme being to be better than them. Yeah they are similar in a lot of ways only Percy's got an anchor, his mom then that anchor grew as he met and befriended more people. And once again, Grover is great, but he also had a lot going on at the time and couldn’t always be of greatest help. To Percy, Luke was a friend, a mentor, and an older brother. He might’ve not known Luke like Annabeth did, but he still looked up to him. He still saw him as an older brother. His betrayal still hurt. Another thing to remember, Luke was probably one of the first male figures Percy had a lot of trust in and could really look up to. Poseidon was never really there, Gabe was an asshole, his teachers hated him, and Chiron I don’t think could be considered a familial figure for Percy until much later, around book 4 or 5. Anyways, thanks for coming to this TED Talk, I like ranting. Peace, and stay safe.
i can understand why Annabeth would be upset at Percy for being mad at Luke, because Luke was practically her older brother. she, Luke and Thalia had been their own little family and that, of course, would probably be why she was so upset about his betrayal
@@eaniopd, of course I understand her point of view. I never said she was wrong to be upset, she was very justified, but I also understand Percy’s point of view. It was understandable that Annabeth was angry and upset that Percy was so sure Luke was evil. Luke practically raised her. He was her older brother, best friend, and first crush. He was the one there for her when she felt no one else was. It’s obvious she doesn’t want him to be evil and wants to save him. But Percy was right to be sad and angry too. Imagine one of your first and closest friends who you look up to as a mentor/older brother figure betrays you, tries to kill you, and is now actively trying to destroy everything you care for and love, and your best friend and crush still wants to justify and defend him _and_ you have evidence that she might choose him over you (Sea of Monsters). That’d suck, especially considering Percy already didn’t have very high self esteem in the first place. Both sides are understandable and I’m not trying to say one is more so than the other. I love Annabeth and Percy both. But I am saying that the entire thing was probably really hard on him. It was hard on both of them. Their varying views on Luke caused a lot of miscommunication on both ends and many mistakes were made so they both ended up feeling confused and hurt.
@@y.g.4441, that PAINED me. Even knowing a lot from spoilers, it still shocked me just how little Luke cared. He just did a total 180. I actually still somewhat like Luke’s character because he has complex intentions and it’s interesting looking at him and Percy as two sides of the same coin, but that scene was written so well to just absolutely crush the hearts of the fans.
I’m rewatching the part where Percy realizes that Luke is the lightning thief over and over again, because it is so good and dramatic it really makes me understand the betrayal and fear that Percy felt in that moment.
This is really good! I noticed when Luke says "So I will do anything" it shows Annabeth, foreshadowing in Titan's Curse when he kidnaps her and in Last Olympian when he breaks his promise to her. Then it shows Thalia when he says "I don't care if I hurt anyone" foreshadowing him poisoning her tree.
Man I'm in love with how you did Luke's scar! It makes so much sense to be multiple scratches since dragons would have multiple claws. This is my new favorite TLT animatic!!
3:10 i would of animated a tear in his eye to show him that he knows what hes doing is wrong but is blinded by rage to get back at the gods for treatying and their children bad, and with him in a tear drop foreshadowing his arc
This song is I think one of the saddest, because when Luke reveals his feelings you realize that these are feelings people have. When Luke sings, "I've been here since I was a kid, I've done everything they've ever asked and for what?" You realize that Luke struggles with abandonment in some ways. He came to camp when he was a kid after running away from home. He probably had hopes to meet his father and have a completely different life, but was still abandoned even after doing so much. Basically he felt betrayed by everyone and everything. Luke's emotions are real and are things that real people struggle with. I think that that aspect is the most important thing about the song.
Oh my goSH!!!! This is absolutely insane. Both the coloring, the expressions, and the art style of this animatic was perfect. You can really see the work you put into this!! My favorite part was from 2:35 - 3:38 , especially the panel at 2:35 -- the way the color scheme just /switched/ to a bunch of darker colors added to the absolute expression of betrayal on Percy's face and rage on Luke's where so cool!!! This fabulous Last Day of Summer Animatic is completely underrated. You did a fantastic job on this!!! Thanks for gracing my eyes with this animatic, I'm definitely going to recommend it to a couple of my friends who also love the Percy Jackson series & musical
THIS COMPLETELY GUTTED ME. The details in this are just immaculate! The contrasting of the colors makes the whole production really pop, grab-your-attention-and-keep-it, and the character designs!!! Percy here is rounder, more smooth, and part of that is likely because of his being only 12, but then Luke is all hard lines, straight, narrow-minded and teetering on the edges of sanity even now. It’s /brilliant/, and the sheer emotion portrayed in every movement, every expression, the angles that this story is told in...Gods BLESS, this is hands-down one of the best PJO animatics!
I just reamber the time in sea of monster when there on the the princess andromeda and Luke was trying to get annabeth on his side and he was like we need your smart and annabeth was like “BECAUSE YOU HAVE NONE OF YOUR OWN” like so much for the guy you liked
DUDE, THIS LOOKS EPIC!!! the expressions, the colours, the poses are so incredible, and the constant change between the frames is so good, it makes it so dynamic!!! ALSO, UGH, THE EXPRESSION ON LUKE'S FACE AND THE REALISATION IN PERCY'S AHHHHH- and when luke's eyes are just staring at the empire state and he slashes it *chef's kiss * THIS IS AMAZING, I HOPE YOU GET MORE VIEWS BECAUSE THIS IS JUST INCREDIBLE, IT DERIOUSLY GAVE ME THE CHILLS!
I figured it’s objectively Kronos but since we’re in Luke’s head those evil overlords may as well be the Gods scratching up and leaving the Earth their kids are on to bleed all for a laugh.
I love the addition at 2:06 of Percy saying Luke's name in concern, it's a very small detail but it would make the dialogue feel so much more natural for Percy in this moment because Luke is saying some *very* *_concerning_* *things* and it's only natural for him to try and show that concern.
Things I love so much about this animatic: The flashbacks to the quest itself- the ichor on Ares' leg, the fire sunglasses, the scissors!!! THE CUTTING OF THE STRING!!!, the apparition of luke behind percy, how annabeth is taller than percy, everything about dionysus, luke having multiple scratches down his eye instead of just one (it has CLAWS there would be more than one scar), annabeth ruffling percy's hair, the creepiness of the conversation he has with luke, how shocked percy looks .... God. This is so good
“I’ll do anything, I don’t care if I hurt anyone” combined with the flashback of Thalia actually physically hurt me )): you did a great job with this!!
luke's part honestly is the best. like when i read the book (TLT), before i got to the part where luke was a traitor, i really liked him. he was nice and cool. i guess when i figured out he was the traitor i kinda just accepted that, but in the last olympian book, when luke sacrificed himself i really understood that he was really just a disturbed and ignored kid. honestly if i was in luke's shoes, i'd probably betray the gods too.
You smell that? That... Familiar smell.... Oh I just realized. THE SMELL OF AN UNDERATTED ARTIST FR THIS IS LEGENDARY I LOVE THE Expressions. How sometimes you just show certain parts of the characters. Like when look said he came back changed you only showed the scar on his face. And just the flashback to Annabeth and Thalia BOI DID IT GIVE ME THE CHILLS OF MY LIFE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS MASTERPIECE GAME ME CHILLS!!!!!
Hdhsshhshd I'm really glad someone noticed me drawing only the side of luke's face that had his scar when he said that line because that was VERY much intentional!! It makes me really happy to know people enjoy my stuff .
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh that flashback to annabeth and thalia and thalia having the eyes blanked out aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa so good aaaaaaaaaa the expressions are all so awesome aaaaaaaaa how is this so good what how and then the silent dialogue at the end how dare you make me feel emotions
yknow what i have so many more thoughts here we go the beginning twenty seconds or so that have so much going on in the background and so much motion, but never gets too muddled the incredible level of detail on everything from Percy and Annabeth's height difference to the Stoll brothers having different numbers of beads on their necklaces because Travis is older so! much! color! love it so much! most animatics don't have much color and this just blows them out of the water "is he always like this?" "pretty much" i love them so much your expressions are so freaking good i can't- the arena!!! the cinematic shot of Percy looking at the destruction Luke has wrought, Luke's expression changing as he hears Percy's voice, Luke turning towards him scar-first, amazing everything with Luke is just. fucking amazing. the reflection in the water, the droplets of blood on the grass, that DRAGON?!? it's there for a second at most but it's so goddamn cool and detailed. the color palette turning gold (foreshadowing?) and then blood red, Percy standing up, "Luke?" Hermes in the background, faceless and behind Luke, and then- AND THEN THAT SINGLE MOMENT OF REALIZATION ON PERCY'S FACE. you can see the EXACT second where everything clicks. Luke's FACE a second after that, no mouth, scar prominent and eyes icy blue to contrast the blood red of his sillhouette, Percy's look of hopelessness and confusion and utter betrayal in the background, and then Luke turns toward him scar-first again and the other half of his face is in shadow, percy's HORROR as he realizes what this means, the desperation as he asks "WHY?", and the Luke TOWERING over Percy, emphasizing his height, his age, his experience, over him, leaning down into his face like he's a terrified little boy- and compared to Luke, older, stringer and so much more bitter, he is- and then the utter deranged look on Luke's face as he cries "Good!" the next few shots keep emphasizing Luke's height and power over Percy, that divided panel between their eyes at 3:00, the golden eyes and the dragon claws slashing over Olympus, Luke's reflection in his blade, faceless but with so much rage, panning up to Percy on the ground as if he scrambled backwards and fell, "I don't care if i hurt anyone" with Annabeth and then Thalia with her eyes covered, Luke ripping off his camp necklace and tossing it away before summoning the scorpion, lifting his sword to the sky as he says "so i think it's time we watch them fall", Luke just disappearing as he says "soon there'll be no gods at all" and then the silent text at the end, Percy waking up panicked and then Annabeth in tears asking "where's Luke?" aaaaaaaaa i love this so much i can't even
So good! Every time Luke remembered Talhia I was ready to cry. Anabeth being slightly taller than Percy is very cute and drives home the fact they are still young kids! And the background behind characters being used as storytelling tool is very unique.
I always wondered why this song hit me so hard. I think I get it now "I'll do anything / I don't care if I hurt anyone" Luke is trying to convince himself just as much as he's trying to get to Percy. He DOES care. He doesn't WANT to hurt anyone he cares about. He sees it as the only way to get justice - a necessary evil.
That's okay. Me using a lot of colors in this animatic was basically me just exploring with color and trying to convey or show emotion with it. It also just felt really boring to me if I just used one color and one month into the making of this video I was pretty much just ready to die so I used colors to motivate myself into actually finishing it.
This was very enjoyable to watch, I think my only criticism is timing. Some frames went by very fast, and I couldn’t quite grasp what was happening on a first viewing unless I paused. But as I said it was very fun to watch, this song hits different every time I listen to it.
i like how every animatic for percy jackson has some hint from the books i've only read the first one but i stiil enjoyed the subtle reference of the scorpian
I don't know why this doesn't have more likes, this is one of the greatest animatics I've ever seen! Thank you for sharing your talent with us, we are not worthy!!!
The fact their stories are so similar that this is like a good kid reprise. Its just that percy finally got his dad god like actually there to guide him in at least one quest so far here. But like for luke he resents his dad because his dad did not care for the dude and even put him in danger. Yeah hermes knew about luke’s faith going to this direction but like there couldve been another way to stop this somehow. Unless you cant change faith at all despite being being a literal god. But its sad knowing luke will end up like this anyways since his dad knew his faith.
I KNOW THIS IS AN OLD VIDEO BUT THIS IS GEN ONE OF THE BEST ANIMATICS I'VE EVER SEEN 😍😍 i LOVE the book references in this animatic!! i can't believe how little subscribers you have, your art is incredible!
Luke betrayed Percy hardcore dude. I don't remember much of the book since I read it when I was 12 but i'm pretty sure Luke was tricked. Percy seen him as a big brother and it was unexpected to see Luke be a villain by the end. Defiantly a good twist though. Edit: I had read the book after a while (to my little bro mainly) and Luke was a pretty good character in book one. Sucked to see him become the antagonist by the end of book one.
You're so expressive, you're a master of the color wheel and character design is so good! Percy looks like the same person frame by frame, if that makes any sense.
this is incredible!! such a labour of love and the attention to detail is spectacular. i can see the events of the book all through this and UGH i can't get enough
I'm about to have freaking breakdown. The end was so freaking awesome! I love how you incorporated the scorpion, and the whole little scene after the music ended sjvhfjeucvjfnesiibngnr I'm dying
This is the best animatic of this song I've ever seen! I love the vibrant colors, the fluidity, the emotion, litterally everything leves me speechless!
I LIKE HOW PERCY IS SEA GREEN NOT JUST GREEN OR BLUE AND ANNABETH IS THE PERFECT SHADE OF GRAY AND ANNABETH IS TALLER THAN PERCY THANK YOU EVERYONE JUST SEEMS TO FORGET THAT-
The only reason I remember percy's eyes being sea green is because I remember them once being described as being so sea green to the point they looked fake and I thought that was fucking hilarious

Ah yes writing an essay in a TH-cam comment compared to doing the actual essay needed to be done. Noice 👌
@@novastorm8416, story of my life man
@@y.g.4441, that PAINED me.
Dam, that's deep
Everyone talks about the inclusion of Good Kid but I personally really like how they slipped in "Put You in Your Place," whether on accident or not
@@kobyrne6634
"It's time to make the world our own
Time someone put them in their place"
Thus why I put "whether on accident or not" /not mad
DUUUUDDE THIS LOOKS REALLY GREAT THE THREE MONTHS REALLY PAID OFF
Man I'm in love with how you did Luke's scar! It makes so much sense to be multiple scratches since dragons would have multiple claws.
This is my new favorite TLT animatic!!
“Percy Jackson.”
“Betrayed by a friend,”
“Right at summer’s end.”
3:10 i would of animated a tear in his eye to show him that he knows what hes doing is wrong but is blinded by rage to get back at the gods for treatying and their children bad, and with him in a tear drop foreshadowing his arc
I love how you added the bead necklaces! First animatic I’ve seen that has done that. Oh my gosh and Thalia!
“Family Luke, you promised.”
Ok you guys can all cry now. I’ll do the same 🥲
I love Luke's face when Percy realizes at 2:35 it's AMAZING!
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch my work! 💕
That “Good!” really was delivered well. I just can’t put my finger on it. It’s my favorite part.
lukes rendition of Good Kid will always be my favorite part of this. He was a villain forced down a path he never thought he would take.
Look at that, a full animatic of *Last days of Summer* that wasn't half-assed! You sir deserve much praise. 👍👍👍
I just reamber the time in sea of monster when there on the the princess andromeda and Luke was trying to get annabeth on his side and he was like we need your smart and annabeth was like “BECAUSE YOU HAVE NONE OF YOUR OWN” like so much for the guy you liked
When you realize Luke had good reasons to take down the gods just cam about it the wrong way
ikr. i totally understand why he want do to that
@@nyunnya9303 me too
Yep
Things I love so much about this animatic:
The flashbacks to the quest itself- the ichor on Ares' leg, the fire sunglasses, the scissors!!!
This song shows the struggle Percy went through deciding whether to stay or go better then the books did
luke's part honestly is the best. like when i read the book (TLT), before i got to the part where luke was a traitor, i really liked him. he was nice and cool. i guess when i figured out he was the traitor i kinda just accepted that, but in the last olympian book, when luke sacrificed himself i really understood that he was really just a disturbed and ignored kid. honestly if i was in luke's shoes, i'd probably betray the gods too.
You smell that?
That... Familiar smell....
Oh I just realized.
THE SMELL OF AN UNDERATTED ARTIST FR THIS IS LEGENDARY
I LOVE THE Expressions. How sometimes you just show certain parts of the characters.
Like when look said he came back changed you only showed the scar on his face. And just the flashback to Annabeth and Thalia BOI DID IT GIVE ME THE CHILLS OF MY LIFE
EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS MASTERPIECE GAME ME CHILLS!!!!!
Hdhsshhshd I'm really glad someone noticed me drawing only the side of luke's face that had his scar when he said that line because that was VERY much intentional!! It makes me really happy to know people enjoy my stuff .
@@scarletsarttrash3193 this is honestly just amazing! Keep it up
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh that flashback to annabeth and thalia and thalia having the eyes blanked out aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa so good aaaaaaaaaa the expressions are all so awesome aaaaaaaaa how is this so good what how and then the silent dialogue at the end how dare you make me feel emotions
It looked like the words of the actual book being pulled straight into this animatic and I love it
I love it when people draw their age difference, cause Percy is only 12, while Luke is 16
@@meatymaggot Luke was actually 19, not 16
yknow what i have so many more thoughts here we go
the beginning twenty seconds or so that have so much going on in the background and so much motion, but never gets too muddled
the incredible level of detail on everything from Percy and Annabeth's height difference to the Stoll brothers having different numbers of beads on their necklaces because Travis is older
so! much! color! love it so much! most animatics don't have much color and this just blows them out of the water
"is he always like this?" "pretty much" i love them so much
your expressions are so freaking good i can't-
the arena!!! the cinematic shot of Percy looking at the destruction Luke has wrought, Luke's expression changing as he hears Percy's voice, Luke turning towards him scar-first, amazing
everything with Luke is just. fucking amazing. the reflection in the water, the droplets of blood on the grass, that DRAGON?!? it's there for a second at most but it's so goddamn cool and detailed. the color palette turning gold (foreshadowing?) and then blood red, Percy standing up, "Luke?" Hermes in the background, faceless and behind Luke, and then- AND THEN
THAT SINGLE MOMENT OF REALIZATION ON PERCY'S FACE. you can see the EXACT second where everything clicks. Luke's FACE a second after that, no mouth, scar prominent and eyes icy blue to contrast the blood red of his sillhouette, Percy's look of hopelessness and confusion and utter betrayal in the background, and then Luke turns toward him scar-first again and the other half of his face is in shadow, percy's HORROR as he realizes what this means, the desperation as he asks "WHY?", and the Luke TOWERING over Percy, emphasizing his height, his age, his experience, over him, leaning down into his face like he's a terrified little boy- and compared to Luke, older, stringer and so much more bitter, he is- and then the utter deranged look on Luke's face as he cries "Good!" the next few shots keep emphasizing Luke's height and power over Percy, that divided panel between their eyes at 3:00, the golden eyes and the dragon claws slashing over Olympus, Luke's reflection in his blade, faceless but with so much rage, panning up to Percy on the ground as if he scrambled backwards and fell, "I don't care if i hurt anyone" with Annabeth and then Thalia with her eyes covered,
Luke ripping off his camp necklace and tossing it away before summoning the scorpion, lifting his sword to the sky as he says "so i think it's time we watch them fall", Luke just disappearing as he says "soon there'll be no gods at all" and then the silent text at the end, Percy waking up panicked and then Annabeth in tears asking "where's Luke?"
aaaaaaaaa i love this so much i can't even
Love your art style and the animatic! You're an underrated artist. Keep it up!
So good! Every time Luke remembered Talhia I was ready to cry. Anabeth being slightly taller than Percy is very cute and drives home the fact they are still young kids! And the background behind characters being used as storytelling tool is very unique.
*That moment when you realize that Dionysus could’ve saved Luke’s mom from being insane like he saved Chris in the 4th book*
ÙnÚ
I always wondered why this song hit me so hard. I think I get it now
"I'll do anything / I don't care if I hurt anyone"
Luke is trying to convince himself just as much as he's trying to get to Percy.
He DOES care. He doesn't WANT to hurt anyone he cares about. He sees it as the only way to get justice - a necessary evil.
So many bright colors, animatics are usually like one color, I'm not used to this-
That's okay.
Ah thank you so much for the feedback! I'll keep the timing in mind for in need of improvement!
ScarletsArtTrash Of course, good luck with your work in the future. :)
I kinda liked it tbh, like the days till the end of summer were coming closer, and faster idk
Why doesn’t this have 500,000 views
i like how every animatic for percy jackson has some hint from the books i've only read the first one but i stiil enjoyed the subtle reference of the scorpian
this is offcially my favourite ''last day of summer'' animatic!
Luke: HAHAHA!! I'm evil, and no can can beat me!
Legit every demigod and plus me: Bet
I am absolutely floored by how good this. The colouring, the expression, the drawings itself, Luke's emotions everything is just amazing!
Mr. D's eyes make him kinda look scary-
And I mean he is the god of madness so-
This is so good! I like your style and I love all the details!
My favorite lyric has to be "So I'll do anything, I don't care if I hurt anyone." cause it just- HuRts
But he doesn't care if it hurts💔
I don't know why this doesn't have more likes, this is one of the greatest animatics I've ever seen! Thank you for sharing your talent with us, we are not worthy!!!
Why is Luke's reprise of Good Kid so fricking relatable...?
2:41 you can see the sheer terror and betrayal in his eyes and that’s a hard thing to do
The fact their stories are so similar that this is like a good kid reprise.
This is a masterpiece i can't stop watching it xd you illustrated so much emotion I can't help but feel for Luke
after 1:38 and the key changes to something more ominus is a good detail ngl
You have no idea how amazing this is, liking the video isn't enough. This is more precious then the precious things Hazel summons.
OMG IT'S SO COLORFUL, SO DETAILED, SO EXPRESSIVE
I love how dynamic and powerful your coloring gets sometimes!
I KNOW THIS IS AN OLD VIDEO BUT THIS IS GEN ONE OF THE BEST ANIMATICS I'VE EVER SEEN 😍😍
i LOVE the book references in this animatic!! i can't believe how little subscribers you have, your art is incredible!

I’ve watched this so many times,
I need to learn the melody for Luke’s reprise
Sense I got casted as him at my local theatre
Luke : * having a mental break down and telling his evil plan *
Percy : 👁️👄👁️
Your art is one of the best I've seen in an animatic, I love it so much and I love how you drew Luke, he looks exactly like I imagined him
I got literal chills when Luke tore off his bead necklace
This and pick a side are my two favorite songs from the musical just because of how well they portray Luke like you hate him but also see his point
