- Installing the RPW Axe exhaust system, a full 2-1 replacement for the stock exhaust on my Indian Scout.
Pardon the poor audio and haphazard editing. I had to edit this on my phone due to technical difficulties with my computer.
Like and subscribe, there are more upgrades coming!
I couldn't decide when you sat on the bike and fired it up and sat there reactionless wether you were overwhelmed or underwhelmed 😂
Just an FYI, I just put a 2 into 1 on my Bobber, and I bought the exhaust gaskets through Harley Davidson, Part #17048-98, and they fit well. $12.00 for both.I used a little grease on them to have them stick until I got the pipe on properly.
Gahdamn that roars like Lion
Very mean sound 👍
I upgraded to the Maverick crushers love the sound to death, however I miss the look of the original stock exhaust, so before you change the exhaust pipe, check into a modification of the stock exhaust they sound great and you keep that original look of the scout. If I had known I would have modified my stock exhaust instead of getting The Crushers even though I love them I want to go back to the original look of the bike
jarocla66 I hate hate hated the look of the stock exhaust. I cringe when I look at pictures of the bike before the change. This exhaust is sooo perfect for the bike. The stock exhaust is too long and the black end caps clash sooo hard.
unaclocker hate hate hated, LMAO, yeah I'm opposite I like the look but I hate hate hated the sound of that stock exhaust, now that exhaust on your bike looks awesome
Are you having fun ? LoL woman are all the same at times right. That has to be the best looking and sounding exhaust for the scout I have seen, the price tag pushed me away and I just beat the first baffle out of my stock exhaust. . maybe next year , good job on the video.
Muscle!
Need to upgrade my exhaust as well lol.
Dude, that sounds bad ASS. Scout definitely my next bike, and you have just put this exhaust high on my list! Did you do air filter and remap? I will probably do PV-CX for remap when the time comes. That or the Dobeck EJK, still deciding. Congrats and good luck with that beast.
Thanks! Yeah, I listened to a bunch of clips of various exhausts. RPW sells a wide selection, and chose this one due to the sound as much as the looks.
I had done an intake a few months prior to this. That really woke up the bike, and gave an unearthly roar from the gas tank at full throttle. I went with the Arlen Ness intake. Very happy with it.
I picked up a PowerVision CX at the same time as the muffler. I loaded one of the tunes that was similar to my setup while the exhaust was off. I have an appointment with a dyno tuner next weekend. Possibly the most reknowned tuner in the PNW, Nels at 2WheelDynoworks. He’ll fine tune the calibration and driveability. Looking forward to seeing my numbers.
For sure, post your results! I bet that pipe makes really good power with that intake, especially with a specifically tuned map! How are you liking the Scout otherwise? Honestly I can't think of a bike I'd rather own at this point.
I really love this bike. Even stock, the power level is amazing. Toss my girlfriend on it with me and I can’t even tell a difference. I can’t go a day without someone coming up and complimenting the bike. I’ve even had tourists from out of the country (judging by Swedish accents) ask if they could take pictures of it at a gas station. I’ve had to make some changes to make it more comfortable - suspension, seat, floorboards, bars/grips. But I’d do that with about any bike.
I love that sound from those pipes. What is that high pitched whine I keep hearing. I was told it's the fuel injector. Did the Arlen Ness intake help with the performance?
Cheryelle Crane Yes, the Arlen Ness intake did as much for performance as the exhaust did. It was a pretty profound difference.
As for the whine: www.indianmotorcycles.net/threads/history-of-the-gear-driven-primary-whats-that-whine.219776/
Wow, I can't tell you how much I nerded out on that history lesson. I'm going to smile now, everytime I hear my Scout whine. Thank you for that! That was an awesome read! What do you think of the Radiant Cycle GP shorty slip ons? I was looking at those, mainly because of the cost.
Cheryelle Crane I felt the same way when I read that. 😊
Not familiar with that slip-on. Some of the ones I’ve seen sound really good and look excellent.
I got the Radiant Cycle GP Shortys put on my Scout 60. Wow, It's very loud and throaty. Sounds good. I have to wear ear plugs but it's exactly what I wanted to sound like.
RPW exhaust has a reputation for being very loud. How loud is it at highway speeds? Do you have to wear earplugs to prevent hearing loss?
David Banaszak Definitely need earplugs with this one. I even made sure I had the best earplugs I could buy because it’s still too loud with them. It’s got a sweet sound, so I’m sticking with it. I am very glad the exhaust ends as far back as it does, any closer and I probably would have to find another solution.
I have the Brave system by them. Was a motherfucker to put together, but man do I love the sound!
InvictvsNox Yeah, your video got me into looking into RPW. Their sound clip of this Axe System is what sold me on this one over the Brave. Sounds exactly like I expected it to. Like some kind of muscle car, maybe mixed with a little Ferrari. Heh. Definitely gets a lot of compliments. Maybe a bit louder than I’d like but I wouldn’t mess with it because of how amazing it sounds. The price was a rough pill to swallow, but that’s in the past now too. Heh.
My thoughts exactly. It's the loudest bike I've owned, but earplugs are cheap. Enjoy! :)
The pipes that you took off looked very blue, something wrong with your bikes tuning, to rich to lean?
Paul Waldecker shrug. Hadn’t tuned it till after this.
Paul Waldecker stock bikes are very lean thanks to the senseless demands of the EPA
when doing a full exhaust on a bike you need a fuel tuner and those don't need the o2 sensors so those are just plugged up. that that problem is no longer a problem. sounds extremely bad a**.
Draeger355 Some of the piggyback fuel tuners don’t use the oxygen sensors. I went with the Dynojet PowerVision CX. It reflashes the ECM and retains the oxygen sensors.
