This is real good stuff. Mindful eating is the only solution to weight problems. Slowing down, asking yourself WHY and HOW do I want to eat instead of WHAT, and changing your entire relationship with food. Thumbs up for this video.

I just left a nutritionist who once again was telling me to do something that I had tried before that didn't work. I came home and told my husband that I was sick of listening to everyone but my body. I am focusing on unprocessed and walking (something that I enjoy and love) and finding things to do for fun that move my body. I might not drop a ton of weight fast but I need to practice more self love and trusting myself.

Since I gave up cholesterol and most oil I have lost 65 pounds since May. I am thrilled. This is a very sustainable diet. All cholesterol is not healthy. Your body does not need added cholesterol. I feel great and my lab work is fantastic. My doctor is impressed. This has worked for me. I hope it helps someone else.

I love the idea of asking what feels most like love! For food and for other things! Great idea.
A gentleman in my Weight Watchers group shared that he eats until he's not hungry. For some reason that resonated with me much more than 'eat until you're satisfied' or any other guage I've heard. This helps me so much at meal time.
It also helps me when I'm in the mood for a snack. At those times I'm probably not having real hunger. So checking in with myself at that time, and eating until I'm not hungry, results in eating much less of a snack than I normally would. Hope this helps someone.
I love your videos Dani. Looking forward to that soup!

  • @missmayflower

Thanks so much for your helpful insights, Dani. This is so, so true. I never dieted yet was always thin. Now I'm obese. This little talk has helped me to see that the difference is that I was always tuned in to my body and my needs. Once the kids left, and we were no longer doing the focussed, social family mealtimes, I just gradually started 'zoning out' and losing touch. It has come to the point where my husband and I will just eat in front of the TV or at the table with our iPads! The problem is the totally mindless eating and relying on external cues. I had never thought about the idea of external cues before. I had a vague idea about this, but you crystallized the idea in my mind. Now I know what has to happen in 2017.

Thank you for this video! I'm 21 and have always been very very slim and active but that changed when I started university and I gained 21lbs in my first 2 years. Thank you for the reminder! I've just found your channel today and have binge watched non stop x

The most important tool I use to stay lean is.... high impact/ high intensity workouts 5-6 days in a row. When I do that, I naturally start craving low fat, healthier foods. If I go even a single day without exercise, I start craving junk food a lot more.

Hi Dani, first of all happy new year to you and your family. The trouble with maintaining a diet is that people have it in their head than the word " diet " is toxic, in a sense it is cause the word "die" in diet scares many people off. When they think of dieting, people get scared and can't maintain the lifestyle for long because it becomes emotionally and mentally draining. The main problem with diets is that they don't work long-term. People often find that they can't stick with a diet for a long period of time. It's likely due to the fact that many diets aren't realistic, too restrictive, too expensive, too complicated, or too inconvenient to maintain, so they give up. Instead I think a healthier lifestyle if switching out foods that we know aren't " healthy for us " to eat and replacing them with fresh wholesome foods. Just doing that and eating " when hungry " will make a big change in anyone's lifestyle.

Dani I've got a question for you. When I try to clean up my diet and listen to my body I end up thinking about food all day. When do I have to eat next, what am I going to eat, how much time do I need to prepare it, was that enough food, should I add in another snack or alter my next meal because the last one was too big, do I have enough ingredients for tomorrow if I make an extra snack today and on and on and on. How do you listen to your body, eat a diet that's mostly unprocessed and not feel exhausted at the end of the day because all you've done is think about food? I think this, more than anything, has steered me off track so any input you have is really appreciated.

Sandy G 323 Hello, I have had the same exact experience in the past and im not sure about you but it does indeed steer me into utter exhaustion and i chuck everything good and bad in hopes of some clarity. The top advice i gan give is to try and see what makes you feel good and forget about all the videos or articles of how and what you should eat. Try everything meaning a way of life try whatever interest you such as paleo, keto, macro counting, intuitive eating, vegan, vegetarian, raw till 4, low carb high fat, 21 day fix etc. see what makes you feel best, what makes you less stressed what you can do long term. All these suggestions are based purely on whole foods but in different ways and hopefully you will find what works for you

Sadly, most often if we're out and about, it seems like a waste to not eat everything on our plate because we paid for it. Now, if we are heading home after, packing up leftovers is fine. However, what if we're going somewhere else? Once again, it's such a waste if we have to leave food out in the car or something.

This is Lori Bach. The word diet, to me, is the word die with a "t" on the end. Now, this is a tool I highly recommend but it takes a very open mind and involves astrology. Right now we are in a Mercury retrograde. The planet Mercury is responsible for our thinking and judgment and right now the world at large is "not firing on all cylinders". When anything new is started during a Mercury retrograde it will fail and this leads to disappointment. The best day to begin anything new regarding a lifestyle program this month is Wednesday, 1/11, the day before the full moon, as Mercury will be direct. Until then enjoy the party!
