I feel sorry for the Greek scribes, who had to work in cold damp and poorly lit dingy rooms. They had to translate and copy Aramaic and different languages ( there were many different versions ) to create the message of the Bible. Of course, only to have it torn apart and remolded by the Bishops. Who, unfortunately, decided to focus on the message of Paul instead of Jesus followers, lead by James, brother of Jesus.
As Watts notes, a small difference in the translation from the original Greek brought about the 'Emasculation' of the Good News in the Gospel. "There is the whole thing in a nutshell. Because if you read the King James Bible - that descended with the angel - you will see in italic in front of these words “Son of God,” “the Son of God,” “because I said I am the Son of God”. And most people think the italics are for emphasis, but they are not. The italics indicate words interpolated by the translators, you will not find that in the Greek. In the Greek [it] says “a son of God.” So it seems to me here perfectly plain that Jesus has got it in the back of his mind and that this is not something peculiar to himself. So when he says, “I am the way. No man comes to the Father but by me”, this “I am,” this “me,” is the divine in us, which in Hebrew would be called the Ruah Adonai. A great deal is made of this by the esoteric Jews, the Cabalists and the Hasidim. The ruah is the breath, which God breathed into the nostrils of Adam. It is different from the soul, the individual soul in Hebraism is called nefesh. So we translate the ruah into the Greek [penafma], and the nefesh in to psike or psyche, the spirit. And you ask the theologians what’s the difference between the soul and the spirit and he won’t be able to tell you. But it’s very clear in Saint Paul’s writings. So the point is that the ruah is the divine in the creature by virtue of which we are ‘sons of’ or ‘of the nature’ of God. Manifestations of the divine. This discovery is the gospel that is the good news."
Jesus was sent to deliver the children of Israel from the judgment of the Law, and the spiritual death it brought them. He fulfilled the Law & took away the sins of the world. What are sins? Sins, Apostle Paul explained, were transgressions of the Law. Where there is no law, there is no transgression. Jesus said on the cross, "It is finished". The Law, and the judgement and death it pronounced on those who were under it, was finished. Everyone born after that was born into freedom from judgement. We are free. We are Spirit (having a body/egoic experience). As Spirit, Children of God, we are perfect and without sin, without need of forgiveness or a savior. I love Alan's talks, and I realize that he is using mythological examples, but he talks like Jesus, Buddha, etc. were actual people. With absolutely no evidence that they were any more real than Superman, in fact, very akin to Superman in the way that their legends grew over time as people added new versions and 'powers' to their stories. He did not ever suggest that he experienced enlightenment, but rather used philosophical thinking to 'understand' such things. Enlightenment may very well be the ability to realize that people are bullshit artists and that theology and metaphysics are all based on wild claims that have never once been supported by actual evidence. But I do love to hear him talk.
Jesus lived. It’s ignorant to say that he is a mystical figure as it was only 2000 years ago. Even your atheist historian will not and cannot deny that. Jews do not accept Jesus as the Messiah from the Old Testament, but they recognize that Jesus lived. Did He rise from the dead? That’s what you should focus on.
…ok so where are you getting that take from? There are evidences to suggest both existed. Just on general principle, the broad census of scholars agree that they were both real people. Both could have very well been exploited, though I’d argue Christianity is probably the largest exploitation in religious history. I think Alan may well have hit the nail on the head, Jesus is far more a person who seems to have understood enlightenment and then cunning people saw their opportunity to exploit his life.

I'm gone too much music
@@HandsOnTechLabjesus ia a metaphor for the sun ☀️ now ask yourself if jesus was a real person why would his crucifiction and reseruction revolve around celestial objects and not dates in history? Easter falls on a different day every year. Fyi most every scripture in the bible is a metaphor. Good luck!
@@zakmay5197 I don’t need luck. You can actually do your research. It’s not something to debate about.

Music is awful
It's all delusion
He made a mistake in the dating of the compiling of the new testament it was compiled the first century BC not AD.
No, it was AD
@@Benjamine578
No, what he said was 100% accurate the new testament was compiled in the 2nd half of the 1st century AD.
It's definitively, provably false. Your god doesn't exist. Sorry, folks.
Proving something does not exist is difficult, hence the persistence of religions.
@@Garrison169the burden of proof doesn’t fall on something that doesn’t exist. Do you have to prove that Bigfoot, leprechauns and unicorns don’t exist?
@@coolguy1127 No one can prove that Bigfoot, leprechauns, unicorns and gods don't exist.
@@Garrison169 if there is zero evidence to support the 4 mentioned, one would have to come to the conclusion they all don’t exist.
THe A.I. imaging makes the narrative repulsive to watch
I love listening to Watts.
But, the problem with agnosticism and atheism Et All is: you’re literally creating another religion.
@@Remmy750 How is the absence of religion creating another religion?
Atheists don't worship Fables? We seek the Truth and Knowledge! Big difference!
The lack of a belief in a creator is not a religion. There’s no meetings there’s no one telling other there not good enough. It’s common sense and my own mortality that guide me. If an invisible being cursing you to eternal suffering is the only reason you’re good maybe you need more than religion to help your issues.
The Bible is the inerrant Word of Our Gracious Lord YHWH
The weird video game music at best, mildly distracts, at worst, it completely destroys the credibility of the subject matter. Try again please.

Jesus is Lord, Son of God, The Lion and the Lamb, the Word made flesh, The way, the truth and the life!
There is no salvation in any other name. Repent from your sins and find forgiveness and life in Him ❤️
This guy is making stuff up just like every interpretation of the Bible. But he doesn’t even claim Holy Spirit told him so, why listen to him ?
Alan Watts is not an expert on this subject
