Naturally then I immediately began addressing myself to the smoking remains of heretics and their infernal doctrines. I tell you this in order to congratulate you and thank you for giving us the finest synopsis of the Gnostic texts I have heard to date. Yes, but the Catholics are wrong: Gnosticism is just another religion, not a heresy. According to the Christians -those who claim that there is no Christ but Jesus, and that he died for us to get eternal life only if we submit to their doctrine - the Gnostics produced a cosmology which sole purpose was to provoke Christians and Jews and spite them. Instead Gnosticism is a religion that appear to have merged Middle Platonic concepts with a Samaritan variant of Israelism, or perhaps Hellenized Judaism.

I think it's worth mentioning that Jesus did not come here to start a religion. Any thoughts one may have about how man handles his relationship with God is certainly different. Why so many denominations? Your walk with Jesus is a personal one. It's so personal it's nobodies dam business but your own. What you choose to share is also personal. In the end, it's just going to be you and God. Nobody you listened to about god will be there to defend you. You need to decide what is true and what is not.

I was raised as a Catholic and it was unthinkable to question the Bible's teachings. As an adult, I have come to realize that what we know as Christianity was a political move by the Roman empire to keep people in line and repurpose pagan beliefs into Christian ones. The Catholic church gradually added more unrealistic aspects to its doctrine: Mary Magdalene was a prostitute and adulterer, Mary the mother of Jesus was not only a virgin but was conceived without original sin. These teachings have done nothing more than diminish women's roles in the Christian faith.

    • @MichaelRodriguez-jb6jg

I too was raised catholic. questioning the tenets was considered heretical. In my opinion, I believe the catholic hierarchy sees questioning as resisting control. To me that is what Catholicism is all about. The amassing of power and wealth through the control of the masses who are kept blind.

Katherine, you have leapt from one misunderstanding to another. 1) The Orthodox Christian Church of the year 150CE eventually became the Christian Church of Rome under Emperor Constantine in the year 365CE as the result of Constantine's dream in which his army was victorious in the battle that made him emperor, marching under a banner that combined the Christian cross with the image of the sun god Helios, whom Constantine worshiped. Constantine ordered the bishops of the Christian Church to present him with a formal doctrinal statement, upon which Constantine sanctioned the Church, ending State persecution and bringing the Christian Church into Roman culture. 2) The confusion of Mary Magdalene with the prostitute Jesus saved from being stoned is a confusion of the laity and not a doctrinal position of the Church. The history of the Catholic Church includes many female Saints and Doctors of The Church, among the most famous being Theresa of Avila and Katherine of Sienna. 3) The history of Christianity and all its variations and off-shoots is quite complex, worthy of years of study in both its history and theology. That would include the esoteric understandings of the Immaculate nature of Mary The Mother, and the virgin birth. As a beginning, you might examine the notions of, "You become what you do," and the transformation of being that marks a completely new person, exemplified by Saul of Tarsus changing his name to Paul the Apostle, to signify that he was no longer that other fellow. In the esoteric studies and practices of theologians, mystics and contemplatives, these notions are both deep and broad, and are within the vast realms of psychology and transcendentalism.

It could be said and has been, by some people, that the Universal mind which all humans are connected to, is "GOD". That we we create GOD as a collection of spiritually focused minds. That having so many minds now on Earth makes GOD more powerful, and our thoughts have more power to create greater positive change because their are more of them. This is why I believe non spiritual people, those trapped in the materialistic view of reality, may play a lesser role in the Universal mind than others who are intrinsically a spiritual nature, the light as it were of GOD, and it is those materialistic souls, who would prefer that there were fewer people on the planet to contribute to positive change, using directed or focused thoughts, which has a spiritual basis.

Modern christians don't understand that the dozens (or hundreds) of different types of christianity resulted from Jesus being fully happy with Judaism and never giving rules and beliefs for a new religion. So their version of christianity evolved from the easy-believism that was catholicism which focused more on the teachings of Paul than the teachings of Jesus, Gnosticism was one of the earliest forms of christianity that was for deep thinkers and truly spiritual people, not the hypocrites that gravitated towards the popular forms of christianity.

This definitely makes sense to and resonates with my ideas of spirituality. I've long held ideas about the confluence of humankind's 'spiritual' nature and modern physics. I've recently reached the conclusion that the material world is truly ephemeral. When in fact there is more space than actual matter, we are really nothing more than thought in imagined bodies. Thank you. I will be diving into gnosticism going forward.

I'm thinking this is why the Gnostics spoke unfavorably about 'matter', not that there really is such a thing as hard, inert, solid objects. They probably realized it's spirit or consciousness that's been made to sink low on the vibrational scale, which is an imprisonment for it just as it is for us in these bodies.

Check out "The Hidden Gospel of Thomas". by William G. Duffy. He uses Coptic and Gnostic texts. There is a difference in his interpretations in his commentary. He believes Jesus' quotes should be interpreted from a non-dualistic perspective and makes excellent observations in his research and comments. I'm about 3/4 through the book and it is by far the best book on Jesus' teachings or any spiritual teachings I have read. I've been reading books about spirituality for a good 50 years.

I come across the gnostic gospels a few years ago after I was already trying to dissolve the lower consciousness, simply because I became sensitive of the pain that’s caused by Time terms concepts conditions, and trying to make life better instead of laying it down. The hermetic principles apply to the mechanics of the natural world where nothing is constant and everything is filtered through the central nervous system people who believe that they have a handle on reality or dying on the. Carnal perception, not realizing how narrow it is. We do not even proceed a half percent of the electromagnetic spectrum. Earth is a plane.-t of frequency. I don’t just visit this view here and there I live it every day I’ve overcome addiction to morphine/heroin and benzodiazepines. I haven’t mastered emotions or anything like that yet although I do not react the way I used to. I’ve endured the loss of two very close family members this year and I was trying to reconcile everything instead of laying it all down and turning away from it. The strange thing is I’ve been having very hyper realistic, symbolic dreams that really made sense of everything, but I also keep getting these nostalgic memories of when I was a small child or maybe beforebirth. I don’t know, but things are happening for sure.

This made sense to me based on what I already knew before watching the video. The Gnostics are the true torchbearers of Jesus real teachings. The original Christians would refer to those who have created today's Christian religion by the appellative 'Adversaries.' The adversaries of genuine Christianity, which was a school of thought and not a religion, have betrayed Jesus and his message from the inception of the today's Christian church. The main reason why that happen was that Jesus was teaching actually against religion. In the Gnostic churches women were receiving the same consideration med did. They were very active in the debates, and as even Paul acknowledges in one of the texts included in the Bible, with him too being a Gnostic, women were often leaders of the community, respected teachers.

    • @jonathanlr4167
      @jonathanlr4167 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

@sorellman this view is not historically supportable. Gnosticism arose later when Christianity came into contact with Greek culture. Gnosticism was an ahistorical appropriation of Jesus christ by people whose worldview was based on neoplatonic philosophy. They just superimposed their existing beliefs onto Jesus. Paul's gospel creed in 1 corinthians 15:1-5, is acknowledged even by critical atheist Bible scholars as dating from within a decade of Jesus' death, probably within a couple of years. This creed verifies early belief in the atoning death and physical resurrection of christ, proving that this was the earliest and original Christian belief. The full teaching that biblical Christianity is based on was in writing before 70 Ad. By comparison there's no evidence that any gnostic " Christian " writings existed before the middle of the 2nd century. Academic consensus agrees on gnostic gospels as pseudopigraphical , dating to 2nd ,3rd and 4th century. The new testament writings are the earliest and most widely attested witness to the life and eachings of Jesus. This isn't in dispute. There's a lot of misinformation on this subject.

Christian doctrine is known as Pauline theology. Saul/Paul never met Jesus and admitted that he had no clue what he taught. That's why he just made stuff up. Jesus' disciples were so incensed at Saul/Pauls lies that they angrily confronted him to cease and desist. [This is why he fled to Greece]
Saul/Paul was called out as a liar so often that he leaped to his own defense by saying 'How can my lies be a sin if it furthers the glory of God?' [Rom 3:7] Lying for the Lord is seen as perfectly acceptable by far too many Christians over the years.

    • @sorellman
      @sorellman 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@paulgrey8028 Paul was not a church theologist. Most everyone knows today he was a Gnostic, and that when he abandoned Judaism, he abandoned religion all together. Jesus too was teaching agains religion, and despised the sacerdotal class.
You have no idea what the verse quoted by you is saying and why is there. Paul makes the case agains the very thing you try to pin on him. This is the complete quote:
"Someone might argue, “If my falsehood enhances God’s truthfulness and so increases his glory, why am I still condemned as a sinner?” 8 Why not say-as some slanderously claim that we say-“Let us do evil that good may result”? Their condemnation is just!"
He makes a point by proposing a hypothetic situation, and his argument is, that even if your lie "enhances God's truthfulness," it is justified to condemn that: "Their condemnation is just!"
The emerging church, also know as the church of the Adversaries of genuine Christianity, the church of the "holy lying", which is precisely what Paul is criticizing here, hated Paul with a passion, the same way he hated Jesus and Mary Magdalene's message, for exposing their corruption and their ignorance.
Other than that, Paul did not flee to Greece, as you claim. He went three times to Greece to do missionary work on behalf of the Gnostic school.
You must be a Catholic, or someone who is running his own religious scheme. Your comment is a collection of vile lies.

Along with thus being the more intellectual satisfying 'grown-up' version of what we know, aspects of Gnosticism tantalise with a spiritual appeal which integrity leaves me no choice but to explore further despite the fact that I have, up to now, been pretty comfortable in my own skin in this regard.

When I deal and read about the holy, I do not believe everything I've learned. I think of things in possibilities, it's possible. Just because I may not believe it, I rule nothing out. Because I didn't live thousands of years ago, so I don't know exactly what went on back then. I'm 68 years old, turning my life over to God In 2014. I've had many miracles in my life since that I cannot explain. I have been plagued with disorders since I was a kid. I do not have seizures anymore, I am not bipolar with severe deprssion any more. I beat diabetes! My mood is always steady, I am not moody. I'm in control of my emotions! I can tell because my dogs and cats respond to me well. They are happy animals because I am happy. I am much better with animals! We walk 7 days a week, and I do a variety of other exercises. My doctor says I am in phenominal health for my age. I'm probably her star patient! I do not follow man's religion, I follow God. I observe the Lord's sabbath day which is Saturday. And it all seems to be working out well for me so far. I feel good! The only thing that depresses me is what is happening in our country, America at the present. And you all know what I am talking about. I think we are witnessing the battle between good and evil. Anyway, good video! I'm always up for learning new ways of thinking. I have an open mind! But I am not easily deceived! May many blessings fall upon you all.😇

We approach gnostic christianity in the same way as the authoritarian catholic model, that is, how should we THINK about it? What is the model? What are the characteristics?
The revolutionary gnostic approach is to look in a different place, not looking primarily in THOUGHT or BELIEF, but WITHIN. Looking within generally requires some type of meditation just in order to still the busy mind and emotions so that the underlying substratum may be revealed.
Whatever is said about it will always be limited just because conceptual language can not adequately express subjective reality. This is apparent with love. Love is subtler than the thinking mind, poets write about love for eons, but everything said about love is a limited abstraction.

Made very much sense to me. THANK YOU for SHARING ! Studied the gnostic texts myself and found them CONFIRMED in my own life experience … NOW making even deeper sense to me, as I became a trained medium, having contact with the spirit world, confirming even more. Much needed information today … as Yeshua said: "My people get lost because of lack of knowledge." Appreciate bringing this out, again. Blessings, love & light of THE ONE infinite creator to YOU & ALL

I'm a rare stone collector in Brantford Ontario Canada, some stones are transparent quartz. You illuminate them with a flashlight 🔦 and they reveal Inscriptions and images no one knew were there. Basically they took the natural form of the "CRYST" and changed the image of God. The Art itself is disguised by nature's original style.

The flaw was in Sophia wanting to create life without the approval of god and a male angel. She conceived without both. She then gave birth to demiurge which was a flawed being and casted her child into a realm by himself because this being was alone it believed that it was the only thing to exist. The demiurge felt lonely which gave birth to material world, Adam & eve and so on

Yes and this is where we've been manipulated for centuries in getting us all arguing about which religion is
'the one true path to god'.. when there are many paths.
Although gnostic texts were deliberately suppressed for thousands of years.. People over the centuries worked very hard to keep the truth from being destroyed and they were executed for it. We honour them as their sacrifice was not in vain.

There is only one Universe. The word Universe is specifically defined as “everything.” It is boundless, meaning no one knows of any boundaries for the Universe ~ it continues indefinitely ~ infinitely.
It is like the Tao Te Ching…it is beyond description, yet everything in it does exist…whether describable or indescribable.
Apostle Paul claimed to have visited the “third” heaven. He was there. Yet, what he experienced while there was impossible to translate into descriptive terminology.
Let the universe be the great vastness externality of what it is. Don’t say there’s twelve ~ that would no longer be descriptive of the Universe…but some human made construct of limitation.

Gnosticism is not Christianity in any way. It is separate cult that seeks to “improve “ on Christianity. It takes a small amount of scripture and runs wild with speculation and imagination. These writings were “marginalized “ because they a false, not Christian belief. Gnosticism has much more in common with Hinduism.
