  • The History of the Bible, Old and NewTestament! So, how did we get the Bible? When was the Bible written? How can we trust the Bible?
How We Got Our Bible? Did we get the right canon?
Alan Watts opens up about Jesus and the religion.
    ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
The image of Jesus is owned by the church traditions and authorities. He has been moulded to fit the interests of the church patriarchs for centuries, so much so that the prevailing image of Jesus is now so far removed from what he truly represented.
Namely an energy from the future who came to earth to bring illumination and knowledge to humanity.
The reason why the Jesus/Jeshua personality came to earth was to create an opening or doorway to a different state of consciousness. He wanted to set an example of the possibilities that are available to each human being.
He wanted to hold up a mirror to human beings and remind them of their own divine origin and the dormant potentials they carried within. The potentials for peace, freedom and mastership over oneself.

Guilt becomes a virtue is one of the most profound thing I've heard in a long time. Especially having been raised in the catholic church.

Just a perfect and clear statement of the truth. BTW, the sound cuts out at the end. Blessings.

I do not require a "God" to explain the universe. Perhaps what is simply is. We as humans are too close to the question to be objective. Our perceptions are colored by the very fear of not knowing. We fill that void with all manner of superstition which eventually become codified and institutionalized as "religion". This gives comfort to many and that in itself is not a bad thing but belief does not make it so. Therefor the concept of (blind) faith was born, an invention of the same human frailties that gave us religion in the first place.

I would have argued with you about my catholic faith but now I'm not so sure your commentary is excellent my faith in the catholic church has dwindled God gave us the 10 comandments I don't know where all the other stuff has come from ✝️

Hi @patfennell6y246 thank you for sharing. The church or denomination you came from is not important. The words Christ died for are. The prophets spoke of his virgin birth, and his suffering on the cross to pay for our sins. When you study Scripture as a whole you will discover he was God in the flesh, the only begotten Son of God who lived a sinless life and paid the price for our sins on the cross.

Brother, I am a fellow Catholic, I urge you to dig in deeper into your faith and not abandon it. Everything the church does is deeply rooted in scripture and the traditions of the early church. The media loves to lie about the pope and misconstrue what he says and does though. Please do not be misled by these people.

the thora was writen already 200 BC in greek (septuaginta - by 70 jewish scolars)
the new testament writing began about 40-50 AD in greek too
the latin bible (vulgata) is just a much later (4th century AD) roman interpretation of the original scriptures

Torah was written much earlier than that it is only the first 5 books of the Old Testament. The oldest fragments found of the Torah date around 7/6 B.C

so basically Alan Watts believed there was a great apostacy, just like the mormons and the "church of Christ" denomination.

I am a Christian , have faith Jesus is the "I am", and is the lamb who took all sin for the world we have created. I do not want to press my beliefs , but in respect to Alan Watt's on the Psalm Jesus refers to "you are all gods" , this is not Jess claiming we are all sons of God. We already know this. Jesus is testing the Jews, and gods in context is "judges". God made us all judges , and we have authority. We are also spiritual beings. But this does not entail we somehow are the creator of the heavens and earth. But we do have the spirit in us, or so one could believe. This is our reason we can cite wrong from doing good.
, “I and the Father are one” (John 10:30-Jesus , who written in stories claimed to be sinless. He wasnt a person fearing preacher fearing obedient to men kinda guy, but a lion and lamb. He had no respect for the traditions of men, but did for the fear of God, and was 100% obedient to the father.

I'm willing to bet you didn't even watch the entire thing watch the entire thing I got offended and your feelings got hurt and challenged and you couldn't have that could you?
