Jermaine Hopkins who played Steel was in Lean On Me as the kid who got expelled but managed to convince morgan freeman to let him back in school. and then he started doing well.
Bishop popping out made me jump every time, even the second time watching the movie. I guess that's like a horror movie a little, but I agree with you it's more suspense. Good choice for Thursday!
i never thought about bishop's hair cut that way. Good attention to detail for sure. I love 2pac's line delivery. My dad used to always mimic him saying "partna”😂
I won't act like that was my theory lol I saw someone mention it somewhere and then I started looking into it more and it makes perfect sense He brought that "partna" up from his big toe! He meant that 😂😂 And your dad saying that is hilarious 😂
This is a 90s classic. It hard to believe this movie is 32 years old. This is my favorite Tupac film. Tupac pretty much owns this movie. As Bishop is a great antagonist. But anyway I hope you have a wonderful day. Stay safe, take care and stay amazing Sista Gurl on Films.
This movie came out in theaters was when I was only 15 years old at the time. And I really really really enjoy your reaction to this movie Juice a lot Sista Gurl.
Juice is one of my favorite movies. It turned into a horror film after Bishop killed old man Quil. I first saw this in theaters with my brother & cousin at the $1.50 movie. I got chills when Bishop killed old man Quil & Raheem & when he appeared at Q’s locker. Here are some fun facts: Omar Epps’ name was Quincy in this movie & in Love & Basketball. Donald Faizon auditioned for the role of Steele but was given a small part in this movie. He confronted Q at school before Bishop showed up. Q’s little brother was played by George O. Gore II (G from New York Undercover & Jr. from My Wife & Kids), Flex Alexander was the dude who was arguing with the judge at the DJ audition, Snappy Nappy Dugout was played by one hit wonder singer Oran “Juice” Jones who sung who 80s hit the rain, Yolanda was played by Cindy Herron of En Vogue & her husband played in School Daze, Do The Right Thing & The Drop Squad.
This is definitely a thriller. I love Juice and pac was balls to the wall crazy in this movie. I whip this DVD out every few years. Great review. You trying to dance to that undanceable song was hilarious 😂.
Juice is one of those movies that if someone says they have not seen it, they get the side eye from me lol I love the art form of DJ mixing but when people try to dance to it in movies, it grinds my gears! 😂😂😂
Juice is one of those forgotten movies from the early 90s it seems. Watched it over the last few years and liked it quite a lot. The music scenes were nicely done and the cast strong. They felt like real characters too.
@48:20 Actually, that hairstyle is called The Gumby. It was popular back in the late 80s and early 90s, and was made popular by the cartoon of the same name. 2pac was rocking the Gumby back in '88 if you look back at his interviews as an artschool student. Also, Omar Epps character is wearing the Gumby as well.
Im well aware of what the gumby hairstyle is. Two things can be true at the same time. He has the gumby cut, which looks completely different than the version Q has. And his hair can also be symbolic since this is a movie and whatnot
Man I wore this movie out growing up yeah Tupac's character gets overlooked the soundtrack was fire two my favorite part is the snappy nappy dugout she got😂 everybody was saying that word back in the day I got juice UC Bishop trying to get a number at the end at the party😂 he different looking forward to the next Hood movie or whatever movie you choose but keep striving homegirl peace
I dont believe I've ever the soundtrack for this movie. But 90s Def Jam was 🔥 so the soundtrack had to be good! And Bishop trying to "mack" in the middle of a deadly foot chase was insane 😂😂 Like, did no one notify the other party goers that a man had just shot a gun into a full elevator?! 😂😂 I have a few classics up my sleeve but I can't reveal all my secrets yet 😂😂
After all these years of watching this movie, I realized what Bishop's issue was. Bishop father was sexually assaulted while in prison and everyone in the boroughs knew that, thats why Radamez said what he said during the altercation with Bishop. Peep he was triggered as soon as he said that, also you could easily see Bishop's father was traumatized early in the film. So considering that happened, Bishop goes out his way to prove he's masculine and demanded respect "Juice" by any means necessary. But by him being young, he went about everything Ignorant and emotionally, basically acting out because those same demons his father is facing is somehow taking a toll on him.
Yea the first few times watching this, I assumed Bishops father just had mental issues and Radames said that just to antagonize Bishop. But now, I agree with you that, the assaults did happen in jail and that's why his father acts that way
@@SistaGurlonFilms Exactly which is crazy because what happened to his father somehow took a toll on everybody else, that shows there's always some crazy motive behind every bad thing that happens to people
PARTNA!!!! (Spit flying and all). Pure classic. Yo I got put on by my cousins who saw this and decided to re-enact for us younger cousins who couldn’t see it. Made me wanna see it more. Plus Pac and I share a birthday so who can hate on a fellow June 16th Gemini. Let’s go!
So, I read once that Earnest Dickerson had written this script in the late 70’s/early 80’s so the dialogue needed to be updated to shoot it. I think what you’re hearing is, in some instances, them not updating it fully enough to always feel of the time. That said though, this is still one of my favorite movies of all time.
Here’s are some fun facts Earnest Dickerson did cinematography for Krush Groove & all of Spike Lee’s early movies & Def By Temptation. He directed Bullet Proof, Tales From The Crypt Demon Knight & Bones (2001).
Pac way of saying pardner was imitated a lot after this film came out on different movies and TV shows. Dunno if he originated that version of it or it came from the streets but he certainly introduced it to the movies.
baby forget thriller this movie straight up becomes HORROR towards the end 😭 Bishop was terrifying and reminded me of way too many people i knew back in the day 😅
The horror elements were there for sure!!! That jump scare with Steel, Bishop slowly coming out of the shadows behind Q, him silently standing in that elevator before trying to shoot Q. There's so much!
This is film is the definition of a good thriller one of the better ones not saying there ones that are not good is that this film really showcase that there are serial killers or crazy ass people in the neighborhoods and that gang violence or acts of violence in the neighborhoods contribute to that
Is it bad that I have "childhood" memories of this movie lol 😂 Have you seen "Trespass"? It's another good one that came out around this time. It's about two fireman that come to look for stashed gold in a gang torn neighbourhood in Chicago...Chaos ensues lol. It stars both Ice cube & Ice-T and is a pretty decent thriller!
Your talking about in the bar bliz the stickup dude being a rapper while two real Mcs are sitting at the bar (EPMD) as soon as he got racks the shotgun they pan over to them.
2pac did get the recognition in hollywerid on the strength of this film because they kept booking him into various movie roles which didnt slow down despite him getting fired and sued over menace II society and then getting shot, getting convicted etc. Just the snobby film critics who didnt and still dont give him his props.
Hey Sista. I’ve seen that movie like twice, yeah Bishop was the worst villain it’s satisfying that he died at the end bc he murdered a lot of innocent people!!! Never thought seeing 2pac as an actor and I’ve seen Poetic Justice as well. RIP 2Pac and Biggie Smalls aka The Notorious Big, I grew up listening both to their music always. Great reaction♥️♥️♥️
You must be inside my head, because why was I about to rewatch this for this gazillionth time 🤣? No, but seriously, Juice is one of my favorite movies ever. Watching this movie, you can definitely see Ernest Dickerson is a fan of the horror genre, hence why so many people call this a horror movie towards the climax of the movie i.e. where Bishop (Tupac) gets the gun. I lowkey want to interview Ernest Dickerson because I have so many questions about this movie! Especially the horror elements and some of the symbolism I see in the movie
I dont see a problem with reacting to Juice, you reacted to films on this channel that arent thrillers or horror. Where juice is concerned the director was making a modern day public enemy, the black and white gangster film that they were watching on TV and whose character was also crazy. It was meant to be a cautionary film at the time. Juice uses thriller elements to tell this cautionary tale. Who was gonna survive. Even the tag line for the movie is thriller esque.
Steel survived a point blank shot to the chest from a .38.. So he might have been scary, but he was tough; because most ain't surviving that.. This was a great reaction..
Bishop was an absolute bastard. Yes he was crazy BUT he was also a snake and the truth of it is he never really cared about any of his friends. It's always those closest to you..
To be 20 puttin on a role like this; really shows how powerful that theatre training was for Pac
Absolutely!!!
Pac did his thang, a cold and calculated villain. Great Reaction
Thank you for watching!
As many times as I’ve seen this movie, I’m just realizing that the same actor that plays Radames also plays Renny (Timo’s cousin) in Coach Carter.
You’re right I never noticed 😮
I've never seen Coach Carter 😔 don't tell nobody 😂😂

Yes an he’s in The movie empire as well with John leguizamo as his right hand man.
