Combat music track for a surprise boss added in Update 1.2.2, the Infected Broodmother. An epic theme for an epic boss. I tried to emulate the boss fight as much as possible, and initially wanted to add in a snippet of the Broodmother Theme for Phase 1 as well, but felt that it slowed down the pace of the video. I love how after you kill it the first time, its movements become less spider like, like the infection is the only thing keeping it going. The host is dead, but the infection is still alive. Also love that the mycelium grows more and more as you damage it.
I actually didn’t notice this, but it’s cool that you pointed it out. xD
It matches with actual cordyceps infections within arthropods.
First they are OK, they are fine,
Then not so much, then finally the mushroom is in full control, it's taken over the brain, and the arthropod basically takes the back seat in its own body, whilst it consumes all the nutrients of its organs, and finally ends the creatures misery
It takes 3 boss heads for 3 phases of the infected brood mother. Also nice comment.
I feel as though the first phase of the fight is so easy is because we're fighting the broodmother itself which is basically dead and we're just finishing the job the rest of the fight is against the infection
Essentially after you kill it the first and second time at that point all is left is the infection and it’s rage to kill you hence it goes RAPID on attacks
Just to clarify for our American population:
This theme indeed plays whenever we encounter a Huntsman in Australia.

My favorite thing about this update besides the actual boss fight itself is every single time people found a way to cheese (get where they cant be reached) or make it really easy (lil-fist before multiplier cap) Obsidian said "No you'll do it legit wimp" and fixed or changed it
This boss shows that the infection is no laughing matter and is genuinely a danger to the world
every anomaly is dangerous to the world.

It just doesn't feel the same without the rapidly speeding sound of parries.
The broodmother was already terrifying to me, but now it’s honestly just really disturbing, the theme is great, but I am genuinely uneasy the whole time, knowing that Wendell basically invented an invasive species of fungus and potentially started what will eventually be an apocalypse. Absolutely horrifying man

Even then we are fucked. Corn, tomatoes, melons, onions, wheat, barley, apple, orange..
NOTHING.
Only plants that rely on outside means alone, excluding bugs, will survive. Even some of those die as many of the birds, bats, and other animals starve as insects make a major part of the food web.
Hell the soil quality will worsen as worms, grubs, millipedes and centipedes die, rotting wood builds up more easily, same with detritus and waste.
Insects may be a small animal, but by no means are they not a big deal

Wendel never invented the cordyceps fungus. Of anything, we spread it, by removing the weed killer containing it.

Also side note, i always love the bosses that are hard, and when you finally beat them and think youve won, the then pull a "SIKE BITCH TIME FOR ROUND 2" make you promptly shit your pants and give you a harder fight.
I know its done to death but i still love it, like King K Rool in donkey kong country, fake credits, or the arch illager in minecrafy dungeons.
Theres something so cool about the boss lulling you into a false sense of security only to bitchslap you when you thought youve won

Guardian Ape in Sekiro was my first. Jokes on me for thinking decapitation was enough to keep that giant monkey down
After I killed it in its second phase I was so relieved since second phase was so hard, then when I walked up to the corpse to harvest it, I realized I couldn’t, then one sentence came to my mind “oh god no there’s a third phase”

I like how the theme gets faster and faster like how her attacks get ridiculously fast
I absolutely love how the music ramps up each phase of the fight! It really tells you how dire your situation is when the boss reawakens.
The raw opening with that choir on phase 3 made it feel like dark souls for a second
It’s the only moment where I felt real fear in this game. Fear that this was something that I couldn’t beat.

Omg this is freaking epic i'm for real trying not to freak out. This is 100% more epic than the original theme
This is the most fun boss fight in the entire game, and here's why. First, you're fooled into thinking it's an easy fight due to the fact that the first phase is basically the same as the regular broodmother. Second. The design, mechanics, and sound design of this boss are otherworldly. Third, the complete randomness, speed and intensity of the attacks in phase 3 will keep you on your toes. And don't even get me started on this fight in New Game+. It's a totally different beast. All of these things always have me wanting to come back for more. Thank you for coming to my TedTalk.
This should be the final boss not only its the hardest but it makes the Broodmother look cool after all these other bosses that got added.
Imagine them adding centipedes..
Maybe that could warrant a harder infected fight? Maybe not

1st phase: Normal brood mothers theme
2nd phase: brood mothers theme but faster with more beat to it
3rd phase: brood mothers theme but a lot faster and puts stress and fear into your heart

As you catch your breath after fighting the Broodmother, you turn to walk back to base when suddenly you hear a noise. You turn to see the corpse of the spider starting to move, and in no time at all, it gets back up. You quickly realize that this ain't no spider no more it a vessel for something far more dangerous. You get ready for a fight, but this time, it was not just a fight to kill it but for survival

Me and my friend play games like grounded completely blind. We found the infected broodmother thinking it would be as easy as the normal, oh how we were wrong so very wrong, We Killed it thinking that was it, We Saw it get back up and we died moments later. (Mostly just me vibing to the music.

Just tried the broodmother boss for the first time(infected) and I was almost about to beat it but it just one shot me when it had one bar left. It’s honestly not that bad if you know how to parry like a pro, also pro tip, bring a lot of healbasa’s
I’m gonna try again tomorrow and hopefully get the one shot kill on it this time. By one shot I mean first attempt
I used corporate kickback and I won
I'm not even kidding using a lil fist build is easier than actual weapons. I managed to defeat her without losing my lil fist combo

The only bosses that give the gold card first try is the assistant manager, the MANT, and Director Schmector, and this is due to the fact that you can only fight them once

Yeah, now imagine you in this situation, you have gotten shrunkend, and you have defeated everything, to the simple Weevile, to a wolf spider, bash in the assistant manager, sliced the broodmother with your spicy coaltana, clobbered the Mantis, chopped the wasp queen.
You go into the castle that is surrounded by tiger mosquitos, and find a lab, underneath the castle was doctor smector, you bash him in, you came far in this world, but there was notes for another boss, but the notes also said to seal the pesticide, you did. But once you did, you hear a terrible screeching sound, you investigate it, and the area got brighter, you placed the bug food, but you have just made the biggest mistake, ever since that encounter withe the black widow
honestly Tiger Mosquitos are a bigger threat than Schmector.

If this was hard i can't imagine the Upcoming new bosses such as the Tarantula, the Long legs etc that might require full teamwork 😂 and full armor and smoothie's
Dude tarantula would suck, but honestly I think Long Legs would be neutral, like ladybugs.
Maybe you could even ride them?
From the (admittedly little) research i've done they mostly scavenge and eat small insects, so I guess they would be tier two at least, fighting orb weavers and ladybugs, killing anything around them that doesnt put them at too low health, i'd imagine they would be a glass cannon, and easily be able to take out a whole orb weaver by themselves, but not an orb weaver jr. and an orb weaver at once.
And maybe you could make any tier two meal (ie. spider sliders), turn it into "nutritional slop" in a grinder, and tame them?
It would make fences useful for once.
