I use a 4” roller to back roll my cuts as I do them. Do 4’, roll with the roller as close to the wall as I can get, then do another 4’ and repeat. It comes out way better imo
I also smash right into the 2” tape on the base. I’ll roll 4-6” up from it, work my paint out, and then when my nap isn’t sopping wet I’ll work some of it down to the tape. It works like a charm

I know this is 5 months old... but that roller cover is fine. I wouldn't have swung the full roller over the floor, but besides that the drops are in a good spot and everything is covered.
The video is still deceiving though, as all the prep work that went into it was not as fast as this. He should probably slow down a little to avoid splatter on the crown, but again this won't wear out a roller.

You hear that rough sound ?
    That the roller “dry rolling”
As he rolls up and down he’s creating “holidays” where paint has been taken back off with the roller. You know why?
    Because paint is a glue
Is an adhesive with pigment and unless you dip it back into the paint, is gonna start doing what is design for and start “sticking “ back onto whatever you pass over it

  • @bengerman9648

The wall is going to have uneven sheen. Heavy coat in the beginning and he's pushing really hard to get the same coverage at the end of the wall. This is why we get so many painters saying that the paint doesn't touch up when they have to go back and touch up half the house. Yeah, I work at a paint store and see it often.

I like the thinking on this. Because he's painting each wall quickly, he can move on to the next wall after putting his first coat on. This means, once he puts the first coat on each wall, the first wall will be ready to paint again. And while he definitely isn't using a lot of paint on each wall, he's still saving a MASSIVE amount of time painting, meaning he can over each wall plenty of times.

You need two coats on EVERY wall. No exceptions. This is probably 4

3 coats minimum. He's not applying the material properly. Ideally, you would like it to be solid in 2. But unfortunately, he's not applying enough material. Also, the material he has applied is actually decreasing. Meaning he's taking it all back off when he runs a dry roller back over the surface areas he has just covered.

I have problem when i paint my wall. All the lines at the outlets, top of the walls that I painted firstly are always showing the different color with the rest of the walls. In the video, my husband told me one is wet and one is dry but i believe when the walls are dry, they will show the lines clearly. How to avoid it? Thanks

Lol,it might be fast but the wall will be rough. This may be ok for priming because you sand afterwards, but not for finishing coats.

  • @bobbydellamano2869

Only thing is, is you can only do that with primer, or a flat white, I guess. The amount of splatter that would hit the ceiling and trim if you had colored walls wouldn't be worth it. If it's too dry you're doing it 2-3 times or leaving holidays everywhere. I'm guessing this isn't a finish coat.
