For everyone wondering about the smoke: it's a common issue of EA888 (VAG 2.0) engines where the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) Valve malfunctions and sends a bit of oil into the turbo thus generating lots of smoke. Solution: install an oil catch can and carter ventilation system.

I love the Golf so much. It's small, it's fun, it's practical, it's affordable, it's super modifiable, and you can fit 4 people in it and have the time of your life at the Nurburgring!

You can definitely find Mk7’s for cheaper than that. I’m guessing you’re talking about a brand new Mk8 R? Even that price will come down eventually as well.
@@breakingcycles741 We're talking prices at the Dealer for a new car. Used car prices are all over the place, so comparing them is like comparing how wet the rain is compared to your shower.
And for an MK8 R i'll happily take a 370Z + Honda E to daily me around.

There is a big difference between Golf GTI and Golf GTI Clubsport because Clubsport in that generation has front slip diff and the regular Golf GTI doesn`t. And of course this car was in proper hands

I'm actually suprised it got up that high, these gauges always stay fixed at 90C no matter what the actual temperature is, unless the engine is legitimatly overheating.

I am curious if you care to share with TH-cam, how much damage was done, did you need just pads and fluid or discs too? What happened to them lol
@@bigt43 jfyi, stock (street) pads are always set up to offer great initial bite, but cannot take a lot of temperature and so will always fade on the racetrack. Just better pads are a great starting point, and then there's a lot you can do from there.
@@bigt43 seals perished, pads must have been low already and I didn’t realise. I purchased a used but complete upgrade while out there.

Obviously Misha knows every inch, bump and imperfection of that track but to be able to get into an unfamiliar car and calibrate your brain to it's capabilities and use all of it is very impressive, well done sir I salute you.

I had a similar brake experience with my Stg2+ Mk6 R, I run 6pot calipers now, but different pads like EBC Blues and 660c rated brake fluid in the stock brake setup will work quite well, the car even with 4 guys in it is not that heavy. The Golfs are just awesome and the diff on the Clubsport Gti is a gem.
I was more on edge watching the heat gauge than anything else 😅 I honestly thought this was going to be the engines last run, also this car is super heavy on fuel... great lap 👍🏽

Like 80% of the car guys: I need a stage 2 tune, I need bigger turbo, IC, 6-pot brake upgrade, aero pack, … as we think we run to the limits of the car, while we actually have no clue. Meanwhile Misha with nearly no brakes and literally in every car passing by every sports car …

Great drive. You wouldn't think this was only a FWD GTI based on that lap, and completely forgot about the fact you were on the opposite side of the car to usual. When you do 5000 laps of the ring I'm sure you get very familiar with everything, based on their question. I'm sure most younger people haven't done 5000 laps of their local roads here in the UK and consider they know them well so this track is something else

@Misha: Absolutely superb driving. It's a real shame that the brakes went just before the final straight as i would of loved to have seen your car at its limit. I know by your driving that you would've maxed out on the final straight, although... 10/10 for your driving skill. superb lap. Well done.
