Russell, you are doggone amazing. I copied your haircut. For me it's amazing how Jelly Roll had such a crystallized playing, that he is better than everybody in this contest IN EVERY ASPECT - Russell is the only one which approaches much of his playing traits. Will Perkins almost got the bounce, Russell is closest in general phrasing and styling. Swanson the most technically commanding but he plays an altogether different kind of music. But Swanson's right hand dynamics is the best.
Good playing! Sounds like he listened to Morton's recording quite often. I would call this Ragtime not Jazz because though the original is Jazz (because Morton repeated each section with original improvisations and vocabulary) Wilson simply played what Morton recorded and didn't extend the ideas any further. BUT, it doesn't take away from this great and authentic sounding rendition. Respect!
This is outstanding!
Not bad.
Just kidding. This is amazing. One of my favorite piano songs, and he really captures the sound and era of history.
Morton would love it!
Well done - I kept expecting Alan Lomax to break in with a question.
absolutely
tnx x this
Morton, la jonction entre le jazz et le ragtime.

Ragtime never has pervasive tresillo rhythm, which Mamanita has. So this is not ragtime; it is Latin music.
Amazing! his fingers know exactly where to go.
tripped on this again today ...
THATS MY CUZ!!!
AWESOME!!!
oh god....made of awesetons.....(fundamental particle of awesome)
You're the king! The reincarnation of JR! OMG!!!
Great !!
perfect :))!!
he has perfect rhythm here which is hard to convey using the printed score as Morton stretched the rhythms a bit...
Do you know where can I buy RUSSELL WILSON CDs?
@agostinopelliti
I don't think, jelly as well as being an excellent pianist was also very vain, however, excellent execution :)
This has calypso rythm
This completely lacks the delicacy of Morton´s own recording.
Lol
