    Just my results from the first day of the beta.
    I'm a fan of doing Spear CS first but I know some others have been doing Sword cs first with good results.
    Cemox has a 43.2k already so I think 44k might be possible with more optimization
    Spear is overall a really interesting weapon that has a nice flow to it.
    Some tidbits:
    * Spear autos are currently the best auto-attacks on mesmer with a slight win over autos
    * Phantasmal Lancer phantasms grant you Fencer's Finesse stacks
    * You can enter CS during Mind the Gap's (Spear 2) aftercast similar to what I used on Dagger 2
    I might update this description later.

    Mesmer Spreadsheet 3.1:
    tiny.cc/MesmerSpreadsheet
    New in 3.1
    Rewrote the entire spreadsheet to be more easily adjustable and to support new features.
    You can now save gear setups and load them quickly in the spreadsheet.
    Added a boon calculator.
    Added more skills, like conjure skills from Elementalist conjures and all mesmer utility skills.
    Added relics backend.
    Added a simple confusion calculator.

    Really cool! been struggling with getting over 38k dps. So it's nice to see the little optimizations being made. Can't wait to see what power mirage dps looks like.

    Is it better to reset the phantasm for sword than the spear?

      The Spear Phantasm is quite weak even when empowered by Clarity, but all your other spear skills are really good.
      So yes, outside of the opener you want to reset sword.

      I'm gonna focus on Power Chronomancer and Boon Power Chronomancer this beta.
      But if I have enough time by Sunday I will look into it briefly.
      I don't think it will look that good though compared to Chronomancer and Virtuoso just a heads up.

    How do you go about finding the optimal rotation?

    • @blubbblubber4342

      For the most part power Mesmer rotations follow the formula of "Phantasm -> filler -> Phantasm -> weapon swap -> repeat" and always F1 with 3 clones.
      Generally speaking, you look for what skill does the most damage per cast time and use it as often as possible, filling the cooldown gap with the next best available skill etc.
      When it then comes to extra resources (like clones), temporary modifiers or other class mechanics with limited access, things can get a bit more complicated. There in depth knowledge of the class may be needed to properly optimize around the above pronciple.

      @@blubbblubber4342 I'm thinking more technical and general as in how do you figure out which skills are worth doing, in what order etc. for any class.

      @@Jmvars As I said, "damage per cast time" (which is essentially the 'Damage per Second', or 'DPS' during the moment you press the button) of an ability is the most important metric to look at here. It's a stat you can check for every source of damage within DPS logs like the one OP linked in the description. In the given case, Split Second is best for not having any cast time at all (as do Rewinder and Power Spike), followed in order by Unstable Bladestorm, Bladecall, Well of Calamity, Mind the Gap, and so on.
      Generally speaking, among currently available actions, whatever has the highest value applying this formula should be used first. If a skill ends up with less DPS than the sum of an auto attack chain, skip it in the rotation loop.
      Next to consider is the weapon swap timer. Since staying on the same weapon for a prolonged time causes you auto attack a lot while waiting for cooldowns (and auto chains generally being mediocre to bad in terms of DPS), you'll want to constantly replace your 1-5 with fresh ones, having them recharge in the background without forcing you into downtime. It thus makes sence to structure rotations around that 10 second timer into a ~20 second loop. Any attack with ~6 to 10 second cooldown can be used twice in such a loop (once when you enter the weapon set and once when you leave it). Respectively, those with ~4 to 5 seconds cooldown can be used thrice (once at the start, once at the middle, once at the end). The closer they are to the high recharge time numbers here, the sooner you want to use them in order to gain the maximum amount of casts in without having to delay the weapon swap further than necessary.
      For example: A simplified weapon has the following abilities: [1] with 10k dps and no cooldown, [2] with 30k and 5 second cooldown, [3] with 5k dps and 7 second cooldown, [4] with 40k dps and 9 second cooldown and [5] with 35k dps and 20 second cooldown.
      in this case, you'd want your 'half rotation' to look like this:
      weapon swap -> 2, 4, 5, 2, 4, 2 -> weapon swap (filling gaps with 1; skipping 3)
      Now, as I too have mentioned, in practice it gets a bit more complicated due to
      - temporary damage boosts (like "Sic 'Em!" on Soulbeat or Death Percesption on Reaper) rewarding to fit their strongest hits inside that burst window
      - potentially permanent damage boosts (like Inspiring Virtues on power Guardians or Attacker's Insight on Spellbreaker) demanding otherwise inefficient actions to upkeep the buff
      - abilities that consume profession specific resources (like Energy on Revenants or Energy on Catalysts) limiting access to powerful moves and giving value to otherwise inefficient actions that build those resources up
      - attacks that are only available under specific conditions (like Stealth Attacks on Thieves or Ambushes on Mirage) looking for ways to enable them regularly
      and more. At that point you just have to understand how the intricacies of whatever build you're looking at weave together to finesse optimization.

      A lot of it is just intuition and experience from playing Mesmer over the past 10 years.
      I also leverage a spreadsheet that I have linked in the description to do various calculations such as:
      * Damage per cast
      * Damage contribution
      * Damage priority
      * DPS per skill
      * Some others.
      Even with all the math I do, I find it requires a human touch, unless you model the rotation in an AI perfectly (we don't really have the tech), so I also do a lot of experimenting too.
