Thanks for sharing this beautiful painting. I am currently working on a series of negative paintings and really enjoying this technique which gives such depth.
You know what ? I've been struggling with negative painting and of all the videos I've watched, yours actually made something in my brain finally click ! Thanks a bunch !!
Found you today. My lucky day. I love your accent, I’m in the Pacific Northwest now but originally from Oklahoma and I suspect you’re from somewhere nearby. I’m excited to follow you.
Lovely painting. I’m self-taught as far as watercolor goes so I really appreciate your taking the time to do this negative painting with a voiceover. It was much easier to understand the way you explained it. Thank you again. Subbing
You did a great explanation in this video, it inspired me to have a go, i created a plesent enough picture but need to practice...Thanks for sharing..love from the U.K
oooh my gosh!!! I have only watched 3 of your videos so far and I am ADDICTED!! Love how you explain things, and I can actually keep up with you! You are the bomb girl!!!! hugs, Gina B
I have been watching watercolor videos for a couple of years and I just discovered your channel .a huge thank you! You have explained techniques like brush load and negative painting so that I truly have had aha ! Moments ! Thank you so much I have tol all my watercolor friends about you , I hope you have 1000 subscribers soon
+tattoolane1 lol it's just plastics cling wrap that you use in the kitchen. I think in the U.S. there is just a brand of it called Saran so that's what a lot of people call it.
+Rita Gjefle I really like them a lot. They aren't as hard to rewet as some other brands, they are bright and vivid, flow gorgeously, and all their colors are LF. However, it takes a bit to get used to the way they flow and control it because it is a bit different, especially if your used to brands or colors that aren't high flow. If you like painting. G loosely a day working g with what the paint does on its own, these are great to work with. And they work well with other brands as well.
Terrific process video! Who makes Moonglow? Sure seems like it would be a great staple for our watercolors. Thanks for taking the time to show us negative painting. Negative painting makes for an interesting painting.
I am thoroughly confused by this painting...I saw you sketch 3 leaves, but then all of these other leaves appeared. I understand the salt and saran wrap part, but how did you get all of those leaves on your paper, and how to paint around them? Am I the only one who isn't getting this? lol
I sketched the leaves like I did the first time but if the stencil went over a leaf I already painted then I didn’t draw on that. Then I painted around everything that was drawn again. I’ll do another demonstration soon for the green leaf painting because a lot of people have asked for it. Hopefully that will make it clearer 😊
+ArtinArt that would be great. Email me @ Thehomegrownartist@gmail.com for what you have in mind. You are way more skilled at drawing than me lol. I tend to do loose paintings but I'm working on doing more drawings that I paint so I think we can help each other grow
I enjoyed your video, am painting fall leaves and loving it. Your template idea is helpful and your colours and textures are effective. Thank you.

Excellent! I noticed you used QOR paints. How would you compare them to other paints you have used?
+Rita Gjefle I really like them a lot. They aren't as hard to rewet as some other brands, they are bright and vivid, flow gorgeously, and all their colors are LF. Daniel Smith. And it’s a great staple! I use it all the time as a shadow color
what water soluable pencil did you use?
I used the Derwent Aquarelle graphite pencils
