I was born in 1957 and I thank God for it. I had the opportunity in the 70s to attend concerts, now considered timeless. I'm 66 now, diagnosed with cancer, terminal. In the few months I have left, I'm listening to these classics to bring peace to my soul.
God bless you. I am sorry that you are going through this awful disease that does not discriminate. I have lost many family members to cancer. I pray that you have comfort every day and that you can listen to this fine music throughout your journey.
I was born in 1952, The 70s was indeed great for concerts. Hope you do find peace!!!! Life can be difficult. Depends how we cope. My heart goes out to you. !!!!
You are one year older then my mom, which just broke her hip etc......and I had tough times during past 3 weeks running all this in Greece.....................I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis and wish you all the best there is............
I am an old lady now but I still feel the same every time I hear this amazing song by Charlie Rich as I did back in 1973; deep deep feelings! Thank You for having it here!
I'm sure you are just messing with me like you have all these years but you always have and always will be the only person I loved and I truly am dying inside cause that's how much I love you
Kool beans, after the Anglo Boer war (1899 to 1902) where the Boer (Afrikaner) people - see women and kids were interned in concentration camps and 'raped' ok for a chocolate or food a screw and 26000 died those days, and well so we forgave them, we the Boere (World rugby cup winners 3rd time) won't forget, why should we, its history. However the Black South Africans are making money after Apartheid so much that they destroyed the infrastructure of the country through BEEE and corruption that there is almost nothing left. So pal if you were born in Charleston in the US or here it wouldn't matter here in South Africa, black people won't vote for any white party as they now skim all the money. Black school kids over here have kids and get paid R300/kid per month per kid. No problem with black teachers screwing kids for better marks here brother.. Well I don't know what to say. At least the coloureds don't, so that over here things changed..it's Africa all over again. Well your borders are open so gone is the US
I'm a black woman who was raised in Central Florida in the '70s. As a small girl, I spent a lot of time with my grandmother who lived in a small country town no one has ever heard of (Greenville, Florida). She had a small radio that she kept on her fireplace mantel and every morning I would wake up to this song. Now, I'm 52, and today I hear this song and it brings back such good memories of much simpler times. Back then in that small town, we didn't think about black and white, or who had more than the other. We were all just country people who were trying to make a way for ourselves. We kept up our homes, worked in our gardens, canned our fruits, played in the woods, waved at strangers, and got excited the one time a week we would go to town to shop, and it was all done to the backdrop of beautiful and timeless music like this song. I'm thankful to have been born at that time. Oh, if we could just go back for a little while.
I'm a black man who grew up in Charleston, SC. I was born in 1966. I remember hearing this song played on AM radio in the early 1970's. To this very day it's one of my favorites. The politically divisive environment that exists today can not comprehend the relationship that existed between working class black and white people in the south that I remember. I just want to say that I love my white brothers and sisters of the south. We loved and supported each other. I remember the stories of my parents and grand parents of the Great Depression and World War II and how we pulled through. Southern history is often characterized as racist and intolerant. That's not the south I remember growing up in. People loved and respected one another.
heard this song first time back in 1974 very popular in my country Chile ,I was very young ...beautiful memories ....loved your touching comment ...God Bless you !!
This is such a beautiful song! I wonder how many girls have been touched on their heart with it, for sure hundreds !!! I’m one of them, if we just could hold up the time, but again it did fallow so many enchanted times, we were married at the end of ‘65 our honeymoon lasted for 51 years, that’s proof of “Life is worth living” LOVE YOUR SPOUSE AS ITS TODAY THE LAST DAY OF YOUR LIFE!
My aunt really was the most beautiful girl in the county. She was also the kindest person that I've ever known and a mighty role model for any young girl. When her husband died young of a sudden heart attack, she fought like a lion to save our 200 year-old family farm for future generations. When this song came on the radio as we were eating supper in her big farmhouse kitchen, we'd all look at her and make her blush. She and my uncle met and fell in love during WWII and I know that they are dancing to Elvis in Heaven, together again. 🎉N E 🎉
I'm a black woman and used to listen to this song with my Mom back in the seventies. We would dance together and have a lot of fun with this song. God called her a few years ago and I've been looking for an original recording. There's a rerecording, but it's not the original which I can't find anywhere. So I just turn on TH-cam and there it is. Thank You so Much!!

I was 12 when this came out. For our achool Christmas party we got to make a list of what we wanted to give to the kid who drew our name. I wanted this song and "Heartbeat Its A Love Beat" by The Defranco Family. I was SO EXCITED to receive the two 45s and couldn't WAIT to get home to listen! It was a cold dark dreary day, as my Mother drove us home from the last day of school before our Christmas break. I remember driving under an old oak tree that stretched it's branches across the street and my Mother pointing out a cluster of mistletoe that was left behind, clinging to the naked tree branch. Once at home I grabbed my little record player and sat down next to the ceramic tiled floor heater, next to my Mother's old player piano and listened to these songs OVER & OVER. Christmas time holds my best childhood memories and when I need to relive them on hard days, I come to the music that filled my heart with such peace and joy. Music is SUCH a POWERFUL force!❤🎶🎵❤

You were blessed to have a father that was loving and kind to you. My father treated us like we were soldiers in the military He was a marine...my mom wasn't nice either We didn't grow up in a loving environment
I was born in 1969 lost my daddy in 1984 He use to sing this song to me all the time as far back as I can remember! It still brings tears to my eyes and fills my heart with love and makes me miss him even more! I Once was Daddy's lil Angel, Now he is mine! Thank you Mr. Charlie Rich as I know your spirit is reading this message... because of you I have had the most beautiful memory of how much My Daddy did love me cause he sang it to me nearly everyday! Lots of Love & Light
Awwh, so truely sorry that you had to go through that & grow into a young woman left to felt so unprotected, however I'm certain that he's been whitness the entirety of your full lifes journey & smiling with imense pride as he done so. As his most beautiful girl fliurished before his very eyes no daddy could feel such powerful love and pride. This I believed heart & soul when my own had to leave me barely nine & he just 32 the night before 1980, so when I came upon you words while lying here it begun to play so began reading the comments there was the one stuck out so true to myself, just needed to respond to ensure that you might know hiw the words you'd post simply sweet to me, thank you. 😊
I cried listening to this song. It brings back lots of memories. I used to listen to it when I was a teenager. How time flies. Life was good back then.
I am with you 100%. Our forefathers fought so hard and died for our freedom. Now a days they do not care if we have a country or not. You are a blessing to our country and I wish we had millions of you. You are a breath of fresh air. Thank you for your sentiments and who you as a proud loving American. God Bless you and the rest of my brothers & sisters in the USA. Much Love ❤️
I'm not a country fan, But when it comes to a classic like this, Then I guess I am after all. These words will not be found in your average song,Listen, and appreciate this classic.

I lost my girlfriend in l lost my girl friend in the late 70s, in a tragic accident, change my life , that I can not find the words to express it , everytime I hear this song , I think about her, it brings back good and hard times we went through, more good times I still think about her every November (that's when I lost her) ,when I hear this song, I can’t hold back the tears (I know the song has a different meaning )but it just tears me apart Iove and Miss you!! Rip SANDY❤😢
Ah! Johnny Tillotson. Memories of listening to him, Ricky Nelson, Booby Vee etc on my wee tinny transistor radio. Where do the years (and the good singers) go?!
I'm from Berlin, lived and worked back then when the Wall was still in place in old West Berlin. At the construction site we always listened to the allied broadcaster AFN and so did Charlie Rich with this song. I fondly remember that time. Thanks to the USA for the persistent protection of West Berlin
Our grandson sang this to his Mama on stage when he was four years old...for her birthday. She loved Charlie Rich and was thrilled to see him at Houston Fat Stock Show and Rodeo as a youngster.
Charlie Rich sang Mohair Sam - the song Elvis had on repeat the whole time he and the Beatles met! Elvis loved the song. Which brought me here and to discover the phenomenal Charlie Rich. ❤️
I may have listened to this song for the last time . It is one of my precious moms favorite songs. Im with her next to her bed at the home . just played it for her . She’s 94, and will probably with god before the weekend . I sang along , not too bad either . Lol. I just wanted to type this to commemorate the moment , or something . This brings back memories of my childhood at my dad’s house listening to AM radio. I asked my dad what his favorite songs were- this was one of them. He’s been gone 40 years ago- thank goodness for that memory:)))
Singer had such a sensual voice. He died at 62- that’s way too young. Reading how his songs (him) struggled for success(?) we, fans never know the hard times talent is not appreciated. His voice is almost unforgettable- to me.

This song was a huge hit in 1974 and very special for a man who lost his girlfriend Prudence Pratt during the aircrash of the DC10 in Ermenonville, France. This I read in a book about the crash...

A year ago, I went through a heartbreaking breakup with the love of my life! Out of the blue today, I thought of this song by Charlie Rich. I just listened to it three times! I know how Charlie feels!
My grandfather used to sing this song to my mother in her crib and as a baby. Tonight I played this for my 3 day old daughter and filmed it to send to my mother and when I was done I realized i couldn't send it because it was literally too much. I'll save it for one day down the line.

As a girl who was born in the 2000's, this is one of those songs that my mom and grandma used to listen to when I was a child. I totally forgot about it, but suddenly, one day I heard it again and it magically made me go back to those days and also brought back a lot of beautiful memories. It's a delicate and yet such an amazing song. They just don't create music like this anymore.

YOU ARE SO RIGHT MY FRIEND
So so true !
My dad had this record and would play this *every* time we had disagreements! He was the best dad I could have ever had! It’s such a cuuuute memory now that he has passed away! 💯❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I miss his singing! Music means so much to me because of him! I have so many memories tired to music…and I love it! 🎁 I’m so blessed!
Hey how are you doing today?😊
Really!!!! My Dad also did with me an my sister! Like Everytime Id asked to drive an depending on where we would go sometimes i Couldent an I would get all mad in the car and he would knock me in the head and start singing this!! He passed away when I was 16 unexpectedly.. He was my best friend!...
Ohh- this song reminds me of my Dad too. He's still here, and I love him so much!!!!!
You were blessed to have a father that was loving and kind to you.
My father treated us like we were soldiers in the military
He was a marine...my mom wasn't nice either
We didn't grow up in a loving environment
It reminds me of my Dad too!!
I am crying. My dad would sing this to me. I miss him so much. Rest in paradise daddy 🙏🏻💙

Time does not make this song old, it makes it more and more unforgettably beautiful.

Hello how are you doing
I'm not a country fan, But when it comes to a classic like this, Then I guess I am after all. These words will not be found in your average song,Listen, and appreciate this classic.
I feel I have to come back and just say another time, that this song is, like a marriage vow between two loving couples, its a life time song.
Oh Yes
Ummm, time to wake up and realize how ignorant these lyrics are, or just stay in your trance, best to ya
Thank you. My Dad was one of the three writers on this song. Rory Bourke. They wrote the words and the melody in 1973.

Hello Karen 👋 How are you? So sorry for the infringe on your
privacy. Beautiful song
Ah! Johnny Tillotson. Memories of listening to him, Ricky Nelson, Booby Vee etc on my wee tinny transistor radio. Where do the years (and the good singers) go?!
Charlie Rich! The Silver Fox!! I remember this song back in the 1970s! R.I.P.
Hello Suzan, How are you doing?
The silver fox. we loved him
Charlie Rich sang Mohair Sam - the song Elvis had on repeat the whole time he and the Beatles met! Elvis loved the song. Which brought me here and to discover the phenomenal Charlie Rich. ❤️
RIP Charlie Rich the silver fox may be gone but sure not forgotten
I may have listened to this song for the last time . It is one of my precious moms favorite songs. Im with her next to her bed at the home . just played it for her . She’s 94, and will probably with god before the weekend . I sang along , not too bad either . Lol. I just wanted to type this to commemorate the moment , or something . I’ve known a few , but she IS the most beautiful girl in the world to me . Catherine Skivers . Mom , blind advocate , best friend .

Hello 👋 Bertha. How are you doing? Hope you’re fine. I am Mark Clifford and am from Denver Colorado. Where are you from? You seem like a real country girl.
Oh no I don't know Charlie Rind passed away young

This song was a huge hit in 1974 and very special for a man who lost his girlfriend Prudence Pratt during the aircrash of the DC10 in Ermenonville, France. This I read in a book about the crash...
Number 1 on the charts on December 15th, 1972. A county star had a major hit.

Soul and beautiful music has no race color 😊
Omg, this song feels as good as it did in the 70s. I melt when I hear it…
This was a #1 hit song in1973! I remember hearing it a lot when I was a kid.

*this music makes me happy i grew up with it, it takes me back to childhood when the world wasnt so crazy*
This was my mom's most favorite song. She'd play the entire album over and over while sewing for her grand babies. It makes me happy to remember her like that when hearing this beautiful song.
For over 18 months (Spring 1973-Fall 1974), this man dominated the Country albums market. Call me weird, but I like this A LOT more than Behind Closed Doors.
😅
This is the song that won him a Grammy, not Behind Closed Doors. I guess we react more to heartache...
