Thank you great tips I am 81 years old still loving playing golf. Still shoot low 80sh high 70. I picked up a couple tips in today's video, one is strategies your shots, two play your strength. Love to see more of your videos. Thanks
Great idea and good content. Small tip: for us regular golfers there are 2 things that help. Explaining tactics for shorter hitters (like 220 or 240 driver and like 140 or 160 7i) and for people who are likely playing their miss more often. Ex on your approach to 18. For a right-hander who plays fade and misses is a slice or fat, play left and go for 2-putts to give you a chance or for a leftie who slices or fats it, you got it rough ... Play for the hole if you can handle bunkers but if not then there's no shame in bailing out ... Saving strokes is what it's about and sometimes a bogey is a good score (for the shorter or inconsistent hitters) Love these videos - I'm short but I learned some things still. Do more strategy around the green ... Tips to save yourself when you are not GIR!
I like the blend of conversational discussions with live reactions to actual results, culminating in presenting a solid Tip to drive home the point. A couple of typos in the Tip boxes that can be cleaned up for a bit of professionalism, the Grint overlay on the video looked really sharp. RR's personality works quite well for this format.
Something I thought about later is doing a recap (post production probably) of the tips, where you can cleanly lay them out and add context. That can help to smooth out the ideas, succinctly describe them, and categorize what parts of the game they address.
Loved everything you speak on. I think that for even the Elite AM the type of shots that should be changed or varied are shot trajectories rather than flights from right to left or left to right etc. Most Elite players should be working the ball primarily one direction to best tighten their dispersion pattern. Much easier to control up and down v.s left and right IMO when it comes to precision. Other than that, your insight is great. Been loving what you have posted this year. I hope you continue documenting in 2025 especially your tournaments. Tournament golf>>>>>
This was so helpful. I’ve always wanted to take a playing lesson and it’s insightful to learn these on course tips. It would be awesome to see how you approach your practice (range, short game, putting). Keep the content coming! Haven’t seen anything on YT like this!
The point about having one stressful shot per hole is a great way to approach your selection as well as managing the mental part of the game as well. Will definitely start to think this way on the course and will benefit great from it too.
I gotta try to think and talk about course management the whole time during my next round. It’s actually probably one of the worst parts of my game. Really appreciate this type of video. Just let me know when we’re going to go out and have a course management lesson. 👍
@@RyanRuffelsGolf I'm looking for a reason to get to Palm Springs (from CO!). LOL. Pick me. Pick me!!! Wifey's GOTTA let me go if it's lessons with RUFF!!!
This is amazing insight. I think most amateurs are starting to appreciate the mental toughness of a pro golfer, but this shows the level of pre-thought that goes into and the commitment it takes. Great work Ryan I appreciate your content!
I never comment on things, but this sort of content is awesome and I would love to see a lot more of it. I think this helps golfers at all levels and I hope you keep doing a lot of videos like this
Thanks Ryan. I really appreciate these types of videos. I do tend to start the ball at the trouble off the tee and around it on approach and that was a bit confirming info. The bit at the on 18 about the angle of the green is new and really good to know. Thanks again.
If that’s coming home in an ambulance I need more wreckage in my game too. Well done tutorial Ryan. Now that Gabbie’s season is winding down we need more brother/sister matches. Don’t forget the Korda’s matchup you mentioned also. It would be a barn burner.
Nice video and good commentary. I think a video about playing in windy conditions would be helpful as I struggle quite a bit with making decisions when the wind is howling.
Sweeet video. I’m subscribing to watch more. Love the tip on the “stressful” shot. It’s true. When I’m faced with a tough decision I tell myself the same thing but in my own words. I ask myself, Do I want to battle now? Or on the next shot?
Honestly, that was great information that most casual golfers like myself need - awesome video! Unrelated - You're letting some random American Rs slip through without the accent. Next thing you know, you're going to have your sister's accent! 🤣🤣 For real though, how old were you when you moved to America? My sister moved to England for about 4-5 years, & her oldest kid didn't really develop a thick accent, but the younger two literally sounded like they were straight out of Harry Potter! When they moved back to America, they lost their British accents within about 3 months, even my niece that was just starting to speak when they moved to England lost her accent that quickly, it was wild! Holy shit I just rambled on forever...
Please make this same video again and hit both tee shots you mention. On every hole you gave a tournament option versus and causal round shot. Great video Ryan thanks man
Love your stuff. Maybe instead of showing perfect shots, move the ball to areas that would be more probable for 99% of players viewing this guide. Give us MORE thoughts about where to miss or where to bail.
" Let me just start with a 290 yard drive that most people won't ever hit in their life without a 50mph tail wind" (including me) 😂😂😂 Not to mention following it up with a perfect 3w onto the green 😅 (What a beauty btw)
I really like the video. One possibility for a future video might be the Swing drills you use to maintain your swing. Like when things get a little out of whack, what are your thoughts and drills to correct the dysfunction?
I have one of my swing drills I practice everyday if that interests you. But when I’m on course I try not to make too many adjustments and just try to hit shapes
Loved this video mate 👍 With putts and some chips I guess, are you always looking to hole it? Or are there scenarios where you're just looking to minimise the damage?
Love the video! Can you do a video on transitioning from top of the backswing to the downswing through impact? You have my favorite swing on TH-cam and I'd love to replicate that move.
Hey Ryan, Great video! I am currently struggling with long par 3s 230+ yard. Do you have any suggestions or mindset ideas for a long par 3? I’ll hit the 4 iron amazing all day then I’ll get to this par3 and I blow it….
I signed up for a 2-day amateur tournament at Sea Island Resort in Jan. I like to walk when playing golf but only allowed to walk the course with a club caddie. Is it worth the e tra cost to have the caddie? I'd say i don't lose in tournaments due to bad course management but rather two many swing thought from the go or from nervous manipulation of the swing when in the lead down the stretch. 🤷 i guess at the least a caddie could carry the bottle of whiskey to keep me relaxed 😌
I think a good note is instead of trying to crush the same yardages you’re hitting and carries just move up a tee box or three 😂 less stressful #notapro
When I play in a tournament and have a good round going all I can think about is to where to not hit the ball is there anything specific to think about to get my mind off of the ob
@17:09 @LukeKwonGolf Take some notes. Stop putting short. Okeh! I would like to see the basic fundamental technique’s of hitting the ball with an iron (ball first & then divot) & controlling back spin. I mean, hitting the ball is one thing, but hitting it for ball placement on the fairway or by the pin is another thing.

Thoughts on working the ball both ways vs having one predominant shot shape?
What are you trying to feel when you reach for the left hand low, pre putt and go back to the normal grip?
I think a good note is instead of trying to crush the same yardages you’re hitting and carries just move up a tee box or three 😂 less stressful #notapro
I couldn’t agree more actually. Not many people should be playing the tips
