      You should get FishBrain (not a sponser ) it a pretty good app. Nice shovel nose shark. I usually ride to my fishing spots so I don't have a big rod. I'll have to go with dad with big rods and catch one for myself.

    Loving your videos thanks for making and sharing them, the young fella will remember that fish forever :) I’ve just moved to Redland Bay and taken up fishing again I’m land based no boat any spots around here you could recommend I’ve been hitting the jetty and breakwater rocks next to the passenger ferries caught a few small shovels and released them but not much else, I’m keen as to learn thanks mate.

      Big Willie FPV plenty of spots. Suggest you target bream to begin with. Just a hook no weight at all. Anywhere near structure. Chicken Brest for bait. When it cools off a little then chase squid.

    • @joshuajamesfergobruv5330
      @joshuajamesfergobruv5330 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha, I use to believe the only thing you caught down there were stingrays and fights with the local dbr (don't exist no more). But when you spend the time mapping and learning the bay you can and will find some good places for fishing and crabbing, believe it or not the biggest fish (flathead, bream whiting), crabs and squid I have ever caught has been in the bay. Even know a few good places to fish on the beach at high tide that produces the odd triple tail. I've always found mullet and squid to be the best bait you can use in the bay, but you can never ever go past trawler fresh bait, fish go nuts for 1-6 hour old bay prawns

      North over the Hornibrook bridge towards Clontarf. As you exit the bridge take the very first left. Park at the end and the banks are exposed for the bottom 5 hours of the tide.

    Im 30 years old and have been fishing redcliffe since I was a kid. This channel can produce good fish. Good video and I realize your trying to get your boy a big catch, but the first mistake you made was using bait(no matter how fresh it is)you will only catch shovel noses, sting rays, catfish, bream and baby bull sharks(all the shit I try and avoid) lol. Years and years of redcliffe fishing have taught me plastics are the go or even better live bait. Live poddy mullet go off at that spot. The best spot for them is the drain that runs alongside pcyc at kippa ring. A few throws on the rising tide and you'll have dozens. Put them In a bucket with an airrator and go back to Hayes inlet, we've caught hundreds of flathead there, my biggest there and pb was 98cm, thought it was a shovel nose lol, then you have the mulloway that come through in schools. They're a bit picky but again live mullet are just too irresistible for them. There's also good size mangrove jack further up that creek🤫 but it's a green zone now,other species I've caught there include queen fish cod and Taylor. We also pump yabbies at that spot but can be a bit tiring. Most people walk out there at dead low tide and the tide starts coming back in straight away.you have too walk out there in waste deep water and fish the last of the runout tide. Watch the stingrays lol. It was good when they had the channel markers there so you knew how far to go out, anyway mate sorry for rambling on.,its just good to see a local fishing video. Have a good one and happy fishing.
    Ps. Another good tip for that spot is to have a big rod ready and if you catch a bream (big or small) put it on your big rod live. The huge flatty love them.

    • @Wayne.Groomes.Fishing
      @Wayne.Groomes.Fishing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aussie Pride Ricky that’s great advice thanks. I’m a big fan of live bait and plastics as well. I’ve also used the same drain beside the PCYC for herring. You certainly sound like you have the peninsula sorted. Thanks again.
