In the first receipe with the soaked rice it needs to be roasted over medium in a pan till it gets brownish and then blended. Also with less water. That way the taste will be much better and the consistency creamier.

That's great, thanks a lot for your suggestion - I will definitely give it a go with toasted rice! 👍

After two plus hours the brown rice sacked up all of the water. You needed more water to soak it. Also, I soak my brown rice and LOT longer, like 12 - 24 hours, and I wiz it with a smidgen of hot water first (then add hot water, sweetener and a bit of cinnamon for my liking) let sit quite a while. After, I blend it a minute or 2 (soup button on blendtec)

To be honest I have Kind of given up making great rice milk at the moment as any of my attempts were not that successful. I much prefer almond, cashew, pumpkin or sunflower seed milks 🙂 If you have found a great recipe to follow, please share with me via a Direct Message on my Health Origins FB page or a link here and I will give it a go 😉

You should make it and then ferment it a bit. You can use half a probiotic capsule (such as raw garden of life ultimate). Try doing it at room temperature in a mason jar.

An interesting suggestion, thank you 🙂

@@HealthOrigins Look up the video on fermenting hemp milk. It looks so easy with the hemp hearts and she uses just half of her probiotic capsule. Yes the capsule she swallows daily with her vitamins. It sounds crazy but looks great and she measures the ph with her little tool. It ferments quickly and then goes in the fridge. She says it should work with rice but not oats.

@cyntmacz the fermenting will change the flavour of the milk though, I suppose depends how long you do it for. If fermenting for 8 hours or longer, you will get a yogurt drink 🙂

I'm looking for recipe for rice milk made with cooked "Jasmine rice". Has anyone tried this? I have Almond cow nut milk maker. I tried making it in that. Uncooked taste like water. Any suggestions

I would say just pulverise some cooked rice (perhaps a quater cup) in a high speed blender with a tablespoon of sunflower seeds and a liter of water - that should have some taste and colour.

Okay good to know, I’d rather my kids have the one that blends more of the rice into it, feels like a waste if I dont choose that method. Thanks!
