My dude. This is good. Keep it up. I particularly loved the piano example overlay stuff to illustrate what you’re saying about melodies and chord progressions. That’s brilliant 👏🏻
Is an unbelievable album from the boys they are my favourite band for a reason. Its such a shame we will never hear Ryan playing guitar ever again really going to leave a big hole in the band. Really liked your analysis of the album mate non bias good to hear!
It’ll be interesting to see the direction the band takes moving forward. They tend to use real-life experiences and themes in their music, and Jamie especially channels a lot of real pain and anger into his vocals. We might see some dark, heavy stuff from them on their next album.
Polaris in my opinion, take the modern metalcore formula and make it as best as it can be, great reaction btw, gives a lot of insight into each song and songwriting.
Thank you for your solid reaction. It's one of my aoty. What particularly captivated me about this album was basically the message and lyrical layer. I just love what Polaris delivers. I understand it and I find my own experiences in it. Fantastic music to me. "Inhumane" is like a galloping horse 👍
just a great vid man. One of my top 5 bands oat, went to Vienna this March to see them, but they had to cancel because Dan (drummer) got sick... Loved the reaction too, and i like how you explain your criticism, instead of just saying "bad". Keep it up!
I'm a HUGE Polaris fan... and even with the cons you mentioned, I still loved this review. You were honest with educational background and understanding, but you weren't a tool about it. I really respect and appreciate that!
This album has grown on me a ton since my first listen! I'm planning on doing a monthly "podcast" where I talk about how my opinions have changed on all the music I listened to so I'll be talking about Polaris in that first video for sure
One of the best reactions I’ve seen. Easily my favorite band, would love to see you react to their other albums. Loved how you explained your criticism. New subscriber.
Thanks for checking it out! I've got plenty more coming! A little bit later today, I'm uploading a video analyzing both måsstaden albums from vildhjarta if you're into them
Polaris is like my favorite metal band, but I feel so validated finally hearing someone else mention the thing about metalcore bands beating the 5th to death lmao
Parasites is by far my favourite. I wasn’t sure why but I never got on board with the choruses in many of the songs you had a problem with, involving the sticking to the 5ths. I put it down to them sounding a little too “pop-y” and common for me, but now I know the real reason. I call Parasites the Hypermania of the Fatalism album because it sticks out to me as a much more interesting and intense song compared to the others
this is old obviously but i will say my personal experience with Polaris has always been that they're an earworm kind of band, i've followed them for over a decade and almost all their albums/songs are good on the first listen but grow on you even more after repeat listens, hope they do/did for you even if your initial thoughts were already positive, glad you liked them.
For me, this band is one of the greatest foundations of Australian modern metal for me, alongside Northlane. I really am a fan of your analysis, and I like to see you react to Northlane's "Alien" album, they somewhat bent the genre of modern metal, influenced by those dark, techno, electronic touch.
Thanks for giving an honest review till the end! Polaris is my favorite band and tbh this album wasn’t for me when it first came out, but over time it’s become one of my favorite to return to almost every day. Songs are weird like that lol
I don't know if you've seen any of my other videos where I've mentioned it, but this album really grew on me over time. It made it into my top albums of the year video
Love and hate your opinions 🤟. And that’s what’s great about this music. Hits us all different. I enjoy some cliche same old same old as long as it’s perfected. Don’t want it to dissipate 😉
I've been listening to this record a lot over the past few days and it's really grown on me, especially With Regards. That's probably my favorite song now
@@coreyclip1 Almost every song on the album has grown on me, especially Parasites. Part of it is just how great some of the lyrics are. Also, really agree with your example about staying around the 5th, always bugs me too. However for some reason that didn't bother me at all in Dissipate. I think I just really liked the guitar/drums with the chorus that the whole thing felt better. Rather than the other examples you gave where the choruses felt a lot more reliant on the vocals.
@@pancakes_35 I always listen to the music the first time around and check out the lyrics on subsequent listens. I have to take it all in in doses to really enjoy it. The lyrics are amazing now that I've given them a proper listen
@@coreyclip1I feel one of the great things about Polaris is that their songs are growers. Eventually you come to love most of their music over time 😊 Dissipate is my favorite off the album 😁
So glad I found this video, love your reaction style! Edit: Completely different genre, but if you haven't heard of Caligula's Horse, I would love to see a full album reaction of In Contact. It's a journey you won't forget!
I was lucky enough to see Polaris live a few weeks back, these boys are even better live! Jamie is the perfect front man and Jake backs him up perfectly. I had the privilege of chatting to Jake for a bit, such a down to earth dude. If you get the chance, you have to go see these guys, they do not disappoint.
Appreciate your Reaction and technical analyzis, I would really like you to react to their previous Album (The death of me) Tapy stuff are very common in Polaris, I love it
immediate 3 you should consider doing a vid for (if you haven't heard): Loathe - I Let It in & It Took Everything Invent Animate - Heavner ERRA - (self-titled) enjoy.
So ive waited to watch this because i was worried my views would change about this album which i believe is my top for the year. And some of it is true but you helped me understand things throughout the songs i wouldnt know otherwise. Regardless of the chorus in Dissipate hanging on that 5th note, the lyrics hit me hard making it my top song for 2023. Thanks for your input!
@@coreyclip1 Just like you mentioned at the end of the video, everyone likes different things and listens to music in their own ways. Currently starting to watch 'The Death of Me' Album reaction. Find me over there lol ✌️
Judging by what you've said during this reaction (Great reaction btw) I think you'd really enjoy Fromjoy's self-titled from this year. They are different than a lot of other "modern" bands in the genre. The big thing is they don't do the chord progression peeve you have with choruses. I think it happens in one verse thats sang by a feature and not in any of the choruses on the record.
Ooh cool, I'm interested in different stuff! I'll add it to my huge list of stuff to check out, but if you want me to react to it instantly you can request it on my Patreon (link in description). Just if you want to ;)
I'm bored with this kind of metalcore as well (the clean/higher pitched chorus thing with the heavier sound), but this album is amazing, great melodies, riffs and songwriting. Guess I'm not the only one! :-)
enjoyed your reaction and genuine thoughts, have you ever heard northlane? their album alien or obsidian are both excellent albums imo, i do enjoy most of the choruses like the chorus for Inhumane but each to their own
Can't wait for the new Silent Planet album review! Also, I'm sure you've already listened to all of Poilaris' stuff, but Masochist might have my favorite melody ever.
As someone who absolutely loves all of Polaris’ work prior to this album I found myself fairly disappointed and even bored during the choruses specifically. Love pretty much everything else but couldn’t figure out why those choruses sounded so generic so I really appreciate you demonstrating how the writing affects that. Subbed😁
One of the best reactions I’ve watched man great stuff, I don’t know if you’ve ever checked out imminence but their newest song “heaven shall burn” is up there for my song of the year, would like to hear your thoughts

10 minutes into the reaction and I gotta say I love your reaction style! If you want to have your mind blown by a metalcore album from this year - "Heavener" by Invent Animate is a bliss 🤩🤩
@@coreyclip1 Sorry dude, I am on the mission to spread the word about Invent wherever I go:D But it's fine that not everyone can appreciate them. It actually took me 2 albums to start doing it properly. However, now I have arrived at Heaven :)

I respect your opinion. But i love alot of the choruses on the album. Dissipate is one of my favorite of the year.
I agree with Dissipate being #1
Dissipate is track of the year, and Fatalism is album of the year
