I first encountered your podcast while looking for some information on Ptolemaic Egypt, and ever since I found it, I couldn't stop listening. I've pretty much fallen in love with a period of history of which I didn't know anything about and that's all thanks to you, Derek.

Credit to Alexander. In 336, conditions for the invasion of Asia Minor were not as favorable as those in 334. Surely, Philip's plan had to be sound, but fast forward 18 months and it was all but obsolete. It's likely that Alexander had to discard it and develop a new one from scratch, more or less. As for the Pixodarus affair, oh, how irritated Alexander must've been with his younger self when it became apparent that Halicarnassus wasn't gonna fold... One of rare screw-ups from the son of Zeus Ammon.

The greek word fir king is pronounced: vasilèas not vasilíos. Actually the last is just a name. E , as in yes and a, as in fast.
